Welcome to Amazon KDP Compendium . This isn’t a textbook, and it’s not another hyped-up “get rich on Amazon” ebook. It’s something far more a living collection of real notes, blog posts, trainings, and coaching sessions refined into a single playbook.

Over the years, I’ve shared hundreds of strategies with aspiring authors and publishers—through newsletters, online communities, coaching calls, and countless late-night notes after testing a new launch. What you’re holding now is the best of it. No filler, no theory, no gatekeeping. Just the raw, tactical steps that have consistently worked for me and my students inside the Amazon KDP marketplace.

Think of this as your reference manual. You don’t need to read it cover to cover. Each chapter stands on its own and delivers actionable strategies—from niche validation to keyword research, from launching your first book to scaling a publishing system that works. Open any section, apply the steps, and you’ll move forward.

This book is for the scrappy publisher, the frustrated beginner, or the experienced creator who knows there has to be a better way. It’s for people who are done chasing fluff and ready to treat self-publishing like the business it is. If that’s you—welcome. You’ve found the compendium that will change how you publish forever.

Author Jack CaldwellJack Caldwell is a California-born publisher, educator, and strategist with a passion for both storytelling and marketing. He studied Marketing and Comparative Literature at UCLA, where he learned to blend data-driven thinking with a love for words and narratives. That combination eventually led him to Amazon KDP, where he built a sustainable publishing business from the ground up.

Over the years, Jack has coached hundreds of aspiring authors and shared his insights through newsletters, blog posts, and private trainings. Known for his straightforward, no-fluff style, he pulls back the curtain on what really works in self-publishing—cutting through the noise and delivering actionable tactics anyone can use.

When he’s not analyzing keywords or outlining his next project, Jack enjoys exploring California’s coastlines, reading modern fiction, and helping new entrepreneurs unlock their potential. His mission is no more gatekeeping—just real strategies that help real people publish books that sell.

Jack Caldwell, born and raised in the Bayou County of Louisiana, is an author, amateur historian, professional economic developer, playwright, and like many Cajuns, a darn good cook.

His nickname -- The Cajun Cheesehead -- came from his devotion to his two favorite NFL teams: the New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers. (Every now and then, Jack has to play the DVD again to make sure the Saints really won in 2010.)

Always a history buff, Jack found and fell in love with Jane Austen in his twenties, struck by her innate understanding of the human condition. Jack uses his work to share his knowledge of history. Through his characters, he hopes the reader gains a better understanding of what went on before, developing an appreciation for our ancestors' trials and tribulations.

When not writing or traveling with Barbara, Jack attempts to play golf. A devout convert to Roman Catholicism, Jack is married with three grown sons.

Jack's blog postings -- The Cajun Cheesehead Chronicles -- appear regularly at Austen Variations.
