The cosms are at war.

As he departs all he’s ever known with only his squad to accompany him, he meets Colt, a guard captain out of his depth, Sweet, an ex-Legionary mercenary leader, and Y’baan, an ancient warlord. Together, they fight against an ancient evil for the city of Ryggrad's fate, and the fate of every world. A mysterious man with shattered eyes and unknown intentions moves through the chaos, for he knows that the heroes of old are long dead, and there are few worthy to replace them.

Loved the fast pace, storyline and cast of characters in this book, set in a fantastical world, or rather worlds.
The level of detail on ancient weaponry and magic is rivaled only by the manner in which they are implemented.
I am definitely hoping there is a sequel... and those kaleidoscope eyes are definitely mesmerizing.
