One word – Fabulastic!!!!

This is the PERFECT fantasy book for family reads or middle schoolers that are interested or hoping to dive into a new adventure!

Lyck Liss brings so much into this whimsical tale from loveable characters, stories converging, riveting adventure with terrifying twists, legends, and so much more. I loved how the author was able to bring such an intricate world building so that readers can feel like they are along for the ride with Blue, Dee, and the whole crew while also seamlessly adding in important lessons from courage and faith to family and teamwork! The map of Frieland and illustrations throughout are also phenomenal and only add more to the experience of reading this gem.

All in all, this book only left me wanting two things – more adventures with the crew, and to try the most delicious ice cream globe wide! My nephews (and myself) cannot wait for book 2 and any more novels from this author that we can get. Highly recommend, 5/5!

A Fast-Paced Fantasy Perfect for Young Dreamers...

It all begins with a dream—the kind that changes everything. One day, two perfectly ordinary kids, Blue and Dee, find themselves swept into worlds of breathtaking magic and hidden danger. But wonder has its shadow: the terrifying Count Daark and his followers are everywhere, hunting not just for a powerful secret, but for a special little puppy and everyone the children hold dear.

This beautiful tale, spun by Lyck Liss, is one that will have your heart pounding one moment and melting the next. It’s a thrilling ride, but at its core, it’s a story brimming with hope. As the first book in a trilogy perfect for sharing, it comes alive with illustrations so vivid they seem to leap right off the page. Most of all, it’s a gentle reminder that sometimes, the world doesn’t need a giant hero. It just needs a couple of brave kids to prove that even the smallest of us can change everything. Highly recommend.

The only reason I finished The Count’s Dark Threat was because I received it for free via Goodreads. It is a children’s book that has science fiction aspects and fantasy aspects. It promotes ethical farming and animal welfare. I did not connect with any of the characters. At times I would notice how one character was speaking similarly to another, and wonder to myself whether the author even tried to develop different personalities for the characters beyond telling you what each person was like when introducing them. However, other times they did seem to act and speak with some distinctive traits. In general, I think the story lacks world and character development.

Children who like stories with animals will probably like those elements. The story is full of action. The good and evil is straightforward.

It didn’t appeal to me, so I would rate it 2 to 2 1/2 stars.

This a beautifully crafted middle-grade fantasy adventure that captivates from the very first page. The author delivers an enchanting and heartwarming story about bravery, teamwork and the extraordinary things ordinary kids can do. The characters are relatable heroes who embark on a thrilling quest filled with dangerous challenges and magical places. The inclusion of beautifully illustrated pages add a special touch that makes this story a joy to read. It's perfect for fans of Percy Jackson and Chronicles of Narnia and is a great book for families who love to read together.
