Inferno's Silence

Rate this book
Welcome to a world where monsters walk among mortals, gods pull strings from the shadows and heroes fall to their own obsessions.

Ehrkon, a former militia turned fugitive, seeks vengeance after his family are executed in a brutal purge. Hunted by the regime he once served, he is granted the power of fire by a righteous goddess and drawn into a rebellion alongside unlikely allies.

Ynka was raised for obedience in a bleak northern city and prepared for a life she never chose. When a terrifying transformation reveals a hidden power, she is betrayed and cast into the abyss. Forced to survive, Ynka must uncover the truth of what she has become and reclaim control over her fate.

Tren is a fearless, sharp-tongued thief who thrives in the ruthless slums of Khurmal’s Fifth Sector. He takes on increasingly dangerous jobs that escalate into full-scale rebellion against the ruling elite. Marked by ancient powers and manipulated by those who know more than they reveal, Tren begins to unravel the legacy of a god, created to contain someone far more vicious.

Inferno’s Silence is a dark fantasy of survival, vengeance and uprising, where the line between hero and villain is a matter of perspective.

Came for the fantasy, stayed for the horror.

This is an action packed horror laced fantasy with multi POV. I enjoyed following each characters' story as they clawed their way through their worlds. I really, really liked all the different horrific creatures. That is what set the entire vibe for me.

Had the pleasure of getting to read this off of netgallery and what a can say is, it had an amazing start, the chapter lengths were a task which I am used to anyway as like a mixture of short and long chapters.
Loved the characters you met throughout the books journey.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere the author created throughout the book.
Can't wait to read more.

It's rare to feel so excited after finishing a book, but this one left me genuinely happy. The ending was powerful for each of the main characters, and although not everyone got a happily-ever-after, each one got something satisfying and fitting to their stories. Tren’s chapters were my favorite. His POV was all chaos and constant movement, mixed with dark humor that kept the underlying social commentary from ever feeling heavy-handed or preachy.

Ehrkon’s storyline was a brilliant exploration of revolution as revenge and, for me, was where the book truly shined. And of course, the Ezh! I absolutely love that creature! What was especially funny was how Ehrkon couldn’t stand the Ezh’s constant warnings in singing form :D It was hilarious most of the time, and a good contrast to the more serious tone of Ehrkon's storyline.

Ynka was also a standout character. She’s not the typical girl-boss; she’s a flawed, complicated young woman who isn’t universally loved and doesn’t get a free pass. Most notably, she doesn’t end up with the boy, which feels like a refreshing change. I appreciate that the story gave her claws (both literally and metaphorically) and allowed her to be tragic, dangerous, flawed, and, at times, downright evil.

“Some people just don’t know they’re not wanted in this world” says the guy who burns everything down for revenge. Sure, Erkon, you’re the perfect judge of character…But also, what a ride this book has been - it really packs what feels like multiple books into one. There’s no breather - the action just keeps going and the stakes keep getting higher until the very end. It kept me entertained and guessing what would happen next throughout. There are a lot of characters and povs, but each section had enough length to be immersive and felt satisfying on it’s own. Most importantly, this book never got boring or repetitive. I especially liked that there were many regions of this world to explore. The only thing that confused me at first was the timeline between the different pov characters but at some point I got it and it made sense. I’ll probably reread this book, so overall, I really enjoyed it.
