How do I put into words my love for this story? I guess I'll simply say this: If you could put all of my favorite aspects into a book, that's what Inevitable is.
The found family between Felix, Silas, and Anka is so heartwarming. I found myself laughing, heart pounding, and yes, even some tears. All three of them have had past life experiences that are devastating in their own ways. Yet each of them found their way to one another.
This curse Felix finds himself wrapped up in is tricky in the best ways. Seraphina really makes him jump through hoops to find himself. Honestly something I love about Loren's writing is her ability to make me endeared towards side characters. I'm always drawn to them and their stories. And in this book, there are quite a few I can't wait to get more on in book 2!
And the spice? 🥵 WHEW CHILE. I couldn't get enough of the chemistry between the mains, and quite frankly, a certain characters dirty mouth with anyone he came across! There's something to say about plot to spice balance and I fear Loren always hits that mark for me. 🤌🏼
If you're looking for a book with urban paranormal aspects, why choose love, and banter that will have you kicking your feet giggling, you HAVE to pick up Inevitable! Easily one of my favorite reads this year!
This is an ARC review I am leaving voluntarily and all thoughts are my own.
My Rating: 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Like solid 4 Series Status: Book 1 ended with a soft “fuck you” cliffhanger that felt personal.
We Have: ✅ Paranormal smut with demons, witches, and cursed bat boys ✅ Filthy-mouthed MMC with weaponized dirty talk ✅ Bi awakening and “oh shit” sexual discovery ✅ Found family energy that actually hits ✅ Banter that made you laugh out loud ✅ Communication kink… yes that is a real thing here ✅ Emotional damage wrapped in horny chaos ✅ Plot twists that actually surprised you ✅ Cliffhanger that chose violence
This is one of those books that sneaks up on you. It starts off quietly like it’s just setting the table and then three chapters later you’re fucked up emotionally compromised it’s 2 am absolutely and you’re unwilling to put the fucker down. You don’t even realize when the shift happens but suddenly you are in deep AF and caring about these people like they are real but also wanting to sit on Felix’s face while crying about it. (I mean - I can’t be alone in this right?)
Felix is the obvious standout… that man’s mouth is a biological hazard. His dirty talk is so unapologetically filthy that it somehow loops back around to being funny charming, and ridiculously hot all at once. My highlights alone read like a fucking shrine to his chaos. One minute he’s saying something unhinged and sexy the next minute he’s breaking your heart in a dirty alley, and somehow both land just as hard. He is vulnerable, devastating, and horny in equal measure, which is basically catnip for readers like me.
Silas was a surprise in the best way. He shows up feeling like he might just be a certain type of character and then keeps quietly swerving into something much more interesting. His confidence, timing, and the way he slides into the dynamic without forcing it felt intentional and hot. When he finally lets loose it hits so much harder because of all that restraint. Not to mention he he had a wonderful surprise in store which is one of my favorite fucking tropes EVERRRRRR 🫦🫦🫦
Anka was a damn delight. Smart, funny, self-aware, horny - in a very relatable way - and emotionally open without being annoying about it. Her internal monologue and her reactions grounded the whole book, even when things went off the paranormal rails.
Fuck -aaaaaand Kyle… listen. I’ll just say. Every time he “popped” up it felt like the book giving a little serotonin treat.
What really made this book for me was the muthafuckin communication. Bayyyybeeeeee these people actually talk. They ask fucking questions …they admit when they’re confused, scared, horny, or catching feelings. There’s something ridiculously sexy about adults having emotionally literate conversations while also being filthy degenerates. I love that shit. Also - I fucking hate the miscommunication trope so there’s that - yeah…I’m probably biased based. Lol
The plot keeps steady the whole way through. There is mystery, curses, emotional history, and just enough chaos to keep me guessing without turning into nonsense. And some of the twists genuinely landed… the kind where I actually stop and go, wait, what the fuck just happened? That is rare in this genre when you read as much as I do.
Then there is that ending. Not a screaming cliffhanger… just a quiet, smug, “oh by the way, your life is not okay anymore.” The kind that leaves you staring at the page like… really, Loren? You’re going to leave me right here emotionally naked AND fucking horny? Biiiiiiitch…
This book is for readers who like their smut filthy, their banter sharp, their characters emotionally messy, and a little bit paranormal chaos served with a side of real connection. It made me laugh…it made me wet AND it made me fucking have feels… which is honestly the holy trinity.
Do not overthink this book. Just let it happen. Let it surprise you. And while you’re at it, swing by your local bakery and see if they can handle cock ring donuts and St. Andrew’s Cross cakes… because after this book: 1. it apparently unlocked a whole new pastry skill set, 2. it’s going to feel like a very reasonable request, and 3. if they can’t… they’re not trying hard enough.
Absolutely freaking LOVED this book! Its so unique and so different from anything I've read before! Felix is HILARIOUS! Absolutely love him! Anka is such a girls girl! like i could totally see her being an awesome bestie! And Silas is so sweet and so innocent but is he?? Seriously I could go on and on about how great this book is! the plot is fantastic and it keeps you hooked from the very beginning! I seriously could not put it down! and the ending was so sweet! but also that cliffhanger?? I will be on the edge of my seat waiting for book two!
Wow! Just wow! The chokehold this book has on me it’s not even funny, I couldn’t put this book down. If you know me, paranormal romance is not my forte, so I was a little nervous about this book, but I was happily surprised by how much I loved it.
This book is so captivating, addictive and it’s much more than a book, it’s a lesson, the way Loren approaches difficult subjects is so well done and effortless.
Felix, Anka & Silas will steal your heart from the start. The chemistry between these characters is scorching and you can feel it in your bones (* in other parts too).
Felix's character development was so well executed and just made me love him even more. He was such a relatable character, struggling to make up for his mistakes. His sense of humor was absolutely incredible and made me laugh out loud so many times.
Anka, oh, my sweet Anka, I wanted to go into my Kindle and hug her so many times! She is so resilient, fierce, and kind. She felt like she could be one of my besties, that’s how much I love her.
Silas is just the glue that holds this book, his struggles are heartbreaking and at the same time so relatable. He will surprise you in the best way! IYKYK
This book brought all the emotions out of me, it’s spicy AF, emotional, and the sarcastic humor is just top-notch! It has twists and turns that will make you gasp and scream. This book will make my top 5 list of 2025! A masterpiece.
Loren, you did it, girl! This book left me speechless and in a HUGE book slump! I can’t wait to read the next one! Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR, You can thank me later!
Tropes: why choose/ MMF witch's curse paranormal romance Multi POV
Inevitable is book 1 of the Cursed Duet and does end on a cliffhanger! I love paranormal romances and this one is definitely spicy right off the bat. Felix is a player and he crossed the wrong lover this time... why? Because she's a witch and she places a curse on Felix, making him a part-demon (although he looks like a dark angel to me lol) that will live indefinitely - and unseen to humans- until he breaks his curse. However, there's a catch, after he touches 3 humans, they'll each be able to see him but he must find true love with one or else .....
There's many POVs in Inevitable. We get Felix. We get a human male author named Silas and we get a human woman named Anka that Felix becomes a guardian of (see, dark angel!). There's also a ghost named Kyle in this story and while his original meet cute broke my heart I quickly loved his ghost version and banter with Felix lol. I thought the story was fun, different, and spicy! I'm definitely interested in what happens next because I thought we were going to end on a spicy three-way but I should have known things would be shaken up lol.
Gahh, this was my first book by this author and I am utterly obsessed! This book was so good from start to finish! The suspense, the paranormal aspect, the spice, and the connection between the characters was perfect. The shock factor in this book was awesome too as “that” part shook me!
The men in this book are out of this world - literally 😏 and filthy. Felix will forever have my heart but Silas is a close second. When these men fall hard for Anka, they fall HARD. The worship and love they give to Anka was *chef’s kiss*. Silas is shy and reserved while Felix is cocky and outgoing but they compliment each other so well.
Anka takes in everything like she’s not afraid and for that I got to admire the woman. When she meets Felix, she starts learning everything about his life and what happened to him without ever showing that she’s scared. The connection that Loren is able to write with Anka, Felix, and Silas without there ever being physical touch with Felix is hotttt. It’s almost as if you can feel the emotions that they’re feeling.
I absolutely loved this book! This one was so different from everything I’ve read recently. Felix is your typical player, jumping from girl to girl - never to repeat the same until he breaks a witches heart and is cursed. In order to break his curse he has three chances to find if he can love someone other than himself or risk spending eternity alone. Silas is our author turned hermit, a shut in after a horrible crime was committed. Felix and Silas’s relationship will have you laughing.. I’m still giggling. Our FMC Anka is seriously over men.. the nerve of her ex! But when she picks up a book that hits a lot too close to home, she’s got questions that only Silas can answer.
If you love banter, If you love your MMC to surprise you with “layers” 😉 - if you like witty humor. If you like inappropriate baked goods. And if you enjoy some spicy “talk him through it” scenes, I highly recommend checking out this book. I read this as an ARC and now I’m dying to talk to others. about that ending umm hello I need more of Felix, Silas and Anka
Why choose Banter MMF Found family Age gap F*boy energy
Wow! This has been my favorite paranormal romance of the year, and I don't say that lightly. Loren Lee has created a world and characters that are absolutely fantastic and addictive. Her writing is easy to devour and compelling. With such a fun plot I never wanted to put this book down. I had a full experience of emotions and the best time reading this book. Not only was I laughing, swooning, and melting from the heat but there were emotional moments that pulled at my heartstrings and made me tear up. There are so many moving parts and build-up to this story but it's easy to follow and incredibly entertaining. I'm so eager for book 2!
In a nutshell without giving too much away... Felix, Silas, and Anka are all incredible characters. So first we have Felix, he basically (and quite harshly imo) gets cursed by a witch and a demon for being a selfish playboy. He is immortal and invisible to all except having only 3 chances to touch someone and have them see him to find love and redeem himself and break said curse... He's truly such an entertaining, likeable, fun character.
Then we have sweet Silas with his slutty glasses, he is a writer riddled with agoraphobia that keeps him alone at home. He writes a book basically about Anka's life somehow...
And of course last but not least we have Anka, she is feisty and has a fantastic sense of humor, I love her so much. She's a baker and loves to read. She picks up the book written by Silas and thinks she's losing it... Felix is the reason they all meet and let me just say the banter was top tier. How their relationship developed and built up was so good. I can't wait for more.

Thank you Loren Lee for the opportunity to read this amazing book.
This is like a very strange interpretation of Beauty and the Beast (and for the record I came to this conclusion before the author goes and mentions B&B in Chapter 31). Essentially a man-hoe has to learn to love or be destined to live his life alone after hooking up with a witch as a one time deal. The book jumps right into his sexual escapades and by chapter 4, we’ve reached his punishment. The details are minimal and we could use some serious story building.
We’re clearly not in today’s day and age based on the names of the characters and the gentleman staying in a “boarding house” versus a hotel. Plus we’re in a fantasy realm with witchcraft and demons. This is confirmed when in Chapter 6 we fast forward a century for Part 2. Then Chapter 11, we fast forward four more years for Part 3.
Initially I thought there was too much spice with not enough tension and minimal plot, but about half way through the book, I became completely absorbed. For starters, everyone needs a best friend like Nelson, very jealous here. Also, with Silas, who doesn’t love a quiet man who writes? I’m here for it. And then Felix. No words. The ending is perfectly done. I’m going with four stars due to the rough start, but honestly a good read!
Oh my goodness!! I got this book as an ARC and I LOVED IT!!
Don’t get it wrong it was truly unhinged but in the best way!!
I loved the story inside a story and I love how everything came full circle in the end but still left us on that fun cliffhanger to keep us hooked on the next book. And believe me IM HOOKED!! It was fun watching all the pieces fall into place. And it wasn’t predictable either. There were multiple parts that literally made my jaw drop with how far off base I was. I LOVED IT!!
Silas and Felix had this banter between them that was so stinking fun! I was laughing the whole time! I love how Anka was down for literally anything and always kept an open mind. Her dry humor was also so fun!!
The 2 side characters really brought it all home for me. Kyle and Nelson were perfect. Kyle was hilarious and always keeping Felix on his toes. And I think I need a best friend like Nelson!!
Seriously this book was so fun for me to read I devoured it! I cannot wait for book 2.
Ok Inevitable was a damn good time. The gist of this book is that Felix is a fuckboy whose fuckery had him finding out the hard way. A witch he’s crossed seeks revenge, cursing him to a half-demon (‘bird man’ lol) immortal life of loneliness and reflection. He cannot touch humans again until he renounces his Casanova ways and finds a meaningful connection in a soulmate. I was a little confused by the multiple POVs and timeline hopping in the very beginning, but I eventually was able to orient myself to the story. I loved this, it was clever, fast paced, and super sexy. Misc thoughts: - Some of the best banter and wittiness I’ve ever read. - Felix’s dirty talk game is unparalleled. - Silas is precious, protect him at all costs. - Nelson is the perfect bestie 10/10 no notes. - I wanna be Ms. Osborne when I grow up.
Thank you to the author, Loren Lee, for blessing my eyes with this ARC. I had the best time reading it and would have happily kept going for another 200 pages. (Lucky us, there will be a sequel!)
I had a blast reading Inevitable. The way it had multiple aspects combined in one made it a very heartwarming story. One of my loved tropes is found family, and the way the three main characters come together just pulls at your heartstrings. Kyle became the push that Felix really needed to grow. Kyle made me laugh every time someone saw him on a furniture crouched like a gargoyle.
The chemistry between the main characters is off the charts. The spicy scenes were phenomenal, and I love the exploration between each interaction. Highly recommend. I love Felix's wit, which has a way of making Silas come out of his shell, and Anka's humour. Silas especially becomes more confident around Felix. I found it very interesting that the book Anka is reading is used to push the meeting between Silas and her.
The way the book ended, I need more. I hope we come to find out what the deal is that Felix made and how it is going to affect him. I cannot wait to read more and explore more of the other characters as well. I need a friend like Nelson; he was the MVP.
Inevitable is one of those stories that sneaks up on you. It starts with chaos, humor, and a cursed ghost who deserves every consequence he gets, but somehow it turns into something tender and emotional in a way I didn’t expect. Felix is a lovable disaster from page one, but the beauty of this book is watching him learn, stumble, and slowly figure out what it actually means to care.
The blend of supernatural antics, sharp banter, and found family made this feel warm even when the emotions hit hard. The relationships build with such natural chemistry that the MMF dynamic isn’t just spice, it’s connection and vulnerability and second chances. I loved how the story balances humor with heartbreak while keeping the pacing tight and the character arcs meaningful.
If you love messy redemption stories, delicious tension, and a cast that feels like they wandered in from a chaos-filled sitcom, this book delivers. It is heartfelt, funny, and impossible not to root for. A fantastic start to a duet and a story I’m already thinking about rereading.
It was inevitable that I would love this book. Loren masterfully weaves this story, and you can’t help but fall in love with it. This novel makes you fully invested in not only the main characters but also the side characters. As this is a paranormal romance, I was amazed at how real-world it felt. I found myself fully immersed in the world Loren created. Felix, Silas, and Anka are all in need of real, genuine love and connection in their lives, and the journey you are taken on while they try to find it is absolutely breathtaking. Then, let me get to the banter and the spice - oh my! I was quite literally crying, I laughed so hard at the back-and-forth between characters. Then there’s the spice.... Let’s just say buckle up! This book starts with a bang and keeps getting spicier. The twists the story takes, I never saw coming, and the cliffhanger was just epic. I can’t wait to see what book two holds for what are now some of my absolute favorite characters.
First things first this was one of the most original storylines I have ever read and it was so different in the best ways. You have Felix one of the MMC’S who’s an absolute fck boy he’s here for a good time not a long time or so he thought. Until he breaks the wrong witches heart and she curses him . She gives him 3 chances to touch 3 people and to fall in love . If he uses his 3 chances up he’s doomed to live his life as a ghost watching life pass him by. He plays it safe for a century without touching anyone until a twist of fate comes along. this brings him to the FMC and other MMC Anka & Silas where it seems all 3 of them are intertwined in some way or another 😉 I giggled through out this whole book the banter between all of the characters was top notch . Again the story line was so original and interesting. And I’m just now waiting for the second book I need to know what happens next !!
Besties… in "Inevitable" the SPICE hits in Chapter 1 and I was like "YAAAAAASSSSS!" Loren Lee really blessed us with a paranormal ride full of banter, chaos, and unexpectedly tender moments. Felix, Silas, and Anka’s found family dynamic? Pure magic.
Felix’s curse is messy... in the best way. Serafina really had this man doing emotional gymnastics, forcing him to learn how to love without self-sabotaging. And the side characters? Loren makes us fall for every single one.
But we have to talk about the chemistry—because WHEW, the tension, the steam, the dirty talk? Steamy. 🤌🏼
If you want urban paranormal vibes, morally grey MMCs, why choose deliciousness, and banter that’ll have you kicking your feet, you HAVE to add this to your TBR!
My Ratings: ⭐ 4/5 ▪︎ 🥵 3/5
🥀 For my rating scale breakdown, head over to my Goodreads &/or Amazon profile! 🖤
I was incapable of not loving this book! It hooked me and hauled me around through one of the most delightful reads of the year!
The whole book was a vibe unto itself. The witty banter, the scorching heat and the connection between Felix, Silas and Anka are off the charts good!
The storyline was fresh and creative. And the side characters were just as vital to the story without overwhelming the reader. You’re gonna love Kyle and Nelson. (Don’t tell anyone, but Nelson is my fave!)
And the cliffhanger?!!! I stared at the last page seemingly forever wondering how I’m gonna make it until the release of the second book.
It all starts with one simple rule: If you’re an f-boy, never screw over a witch!
See? You’re hooked already!
I received an advanced copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I had so much fun reading this. It was so easy to fall into and I loved every single second. Felix is hilarious and chaotic in the cutest way. Anka is the kind of girl you instantly root for. And Silas? Sweet but maybe not as innocent as he looks.
The plot was super unique and honestly just made me smile the entire time. The banter was adorable, the vibes were fun, and the whole curse storyline had me completely hooked. I seriously could not put it down.
And that ending? I just stared at my screen like hello? I need book two immediately.
If you want something funny, a little spicy, a little magical, and full of personality, this is such a good time. I’m already obsessed with these three and I cannot wait for more.
Felix is a hit it and quit it kinda guy....well until he crises a witch who decided to put a curse on him. She decided this man will be invisible to people. However, he has three chances to touch people and they will see him. However, he needs to be sure one of then is a soulmate otherwise he will be forever doomed.
Felix is terrified of messing up. However, when he does touch someone its not exactly what was expected but it sets in motion such a roller coaster ride.
This book has heat, tension, mystery, and some fantastic dirty talk. This was a fun and spicy read that I read in one sitting. I was invested and needed the answers. However, it seems something more is on the horizon and I'm absolutely ready for part two.
Felix is the type of guy who’s here for a good time, not a long time… until he messes with the wrong witch and ends up cursed. He can physically touch only three people ever, and one of them has to be his soulmate. If he wastes the three chances, he is doomed to live the rest of his life as a ghost. His first touch leads to chaos and connections he never thought would be possible. This book had a very unique plot, and I am here for it! I loved Felix, Silas, and Anka’s found family dynamic. Along with the chaos and banter, there were unexpected emotional moments that enhanced the connections between the main characters. Now I’ll be waiting for the next book because it seems that there are more secrets to uncover.
Why Choose Banter Mmf Found Family Redeemable F*ckboy Age Gap
Five. Fkn. Stars. I devoured Inevitable in one sitting. Loren Lee really did something with this book, because I was hooked from page one and absolutely refused to put it down.
It’s one of those reads where you tell yourself “just one more chapter,” and suddenly you’re at the end wondering where the whole day went and debating whether to DM the author and ask when book two is coming out.
Felix, Anka, and Silas pulled me in instantly. Felix’s growth is so good, Anka’s strength is everything, and Silas’s struggles had me in my feelings. And let’s not forget about the 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ it’s spice that spices, and I’m here for all of it 🙌🏼
This book is addictive and impossible to step away from. Five-star read all the way.
𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 – My mind is still reeling from finishing this book. It may take 5-7 business days to process what I just read. If I had read either the trope listing or content warnings beforehand, I probably wouldn’t have picked up this book. But then I would have missed out on this twisted and treacherous love story. Or is it a sexcapade? Both? I finished this book in record time. It is scorching in terms of the spice scenes and made me do a double take on who was around me while I was reading in public. Bedroom adventures aside, even the story itself was compelling. I was invested in each of the characters and lived this confounding situation with them. Loren Lee is an unabashedly bold writer and I am eagerly awaiting the next steamy misadventure.
I've been sitting here and sitting here trying to formulate something coherent, but I'm coming up short because what do I even say that could even come close to how good this book was?! If you enjoy witches, demons (bird men 😏), and loveable nerdy men, you should- no, DEFINITELY pick this up and devour it.
By the end of this, you are going to feel like you are a part of this world, and are going to feel a little heartbreak when you close it and leave. This book had my emotions feeling like a roller coaster, I hated, loved, was worried and ultimately satisfied. Absolutely perfect plot to smut ratio, chefs kiss 💋🤌🏼
This was a crazy wild ride! I enjoyed it though!! It’s interesting storyline and the way it’s set up, but I found myself almost more invested in the characters because of it. Felix is our fkboy until he messes with the wrong person of course, then you have Anka and Silas and it was interesting to see how all three were connected and their journey. It’s definitely steamy which I loved, and full of banter which was amazing!!
The ending though!! Loved the way it ends I love Felix, Anka, and Silas!!
A man set in his way of bachelor status has quite the reputation of pleasing women for one night and then never repeating the adventure.
But then he wrongs a witch who cursed him to find true love. But his touch is restricted to someone he loves. And we follow his cursed journey and what a journey to revelation of a changed man.
I loved. LOVED. This story so much. The whole premise was so unique, I legitimately could not put it down. I loved the way the story layered together, and how all of the characters were tied together. The contemporary fantasy aspect of it made the whole plot even more fun, and I loved seeing how all of these characters evolved throughout the book.
Kyle will always and forever be my favorite. And I cried and laughed so many times.
Wow this was so different. We are on a journey with our MMC. I jumped in blind and wasn’t not sure where I was going. There was great character development. We could vibe with who the characters were and the passions that they experience. It had a lot of fun and life that make the aspects of the story that are tuff less painful. It’s not hard to read quickly if you want to take it with you and devour it on a trip. It’s a mysterious vibe like you are looking to find out what is truly going on which is fun.
I am definitely a mood reader and seem to shy away from paranormal romance before now - but this one grabbed me from the beginning and had me hooked - definitely a page-turning, one-sitting read!!!
Love the found family (fell in love with all the characters), the witty banter (laughed so much), the amazing, unique cursed storyline, and the spice!!!!
Cannot wait for second book in the duet.
Thank you to Loren for the opportunity to read this ARC and leaving my honest review.
