review of Pirates of World II by Bryan Cantrell
What a fun book a romp thru time with real pirates, their Boat, and what happens when they accidentally travel to World War II courtesy of a strange jeweled necklace which transports people to the future previously they travelled to the Wild West and made friends with Jesse James and his brother Frank who ended up as part of their pirate crew I found it exciting and humorous a very fun book to read JJ

Pirates already fun
This book was a great read and a good continuation of the first. I especially liked the ending with the the in to Key West and Jimmy Buffet. I’ve been to Key West many times, love Jimmy and Pirates and cruised. The Caribbean a lot. Thanks for a good story.

Terrific.
This was an awesome story. The way three separate eras were tied together and fit so seamlessly and then the protagonists ended up in a fourth era made it perfect.

If you love a good pirate story, or even just a good story that happens to have well-known, historical, 18th century pirates as protagonists, then you should definitely check out Bryan Cantrell's Pirates of World War II. POWW2 is a continuation of Bryan's Pirates of the Wild West, so if you haven't read that novel, you may want to read it before jumping into this one.
How, you may be asking yourself, do 18th century pirates end up in the theater of war during World War 2 - a war that took place a good 140 or so years after the end of the 18th century? Well, as any fan speculative fiction will quickly respond, it's obviously time travel. Or a wormhole. Or a temporal vortex. The root mechanics of the story's time travel are a little unclear (though there are clues provided for its mechanism in POWW2), but the conduit between times is [OH NO, A SPOILER!!] always a ship-swallowing whirlpool. And the outcome in this novel is pirates, and a few 19th century time travelers from the old west, onboard the Queen Anne's Revenge mixing it up with technology that seems more like magic than science to the time travelers. And in this book, they also battle Nazis!
If that's not enough to entice you, then how about this: Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Benjamin Hornigold, Woodes Rogers, Anne Bonny, and Mary Read are all major characters in the story. And they're as cruel, violent, and bloodthirsty as they ever were in real life. Their interactions and predictably viscous behavior against the US Navy and Nazis is good fun. There are also scenes right out of Indiana Jones (hidden treasure, supernatural treasure-hunting Nazis, booby traps) that were a lot of fun to read.
I could share more, but I've probably already spoiled enough. So buy it, read it, and love it. And if you're in Southern California, track Bryan down at one of the many signings he does at various book fairs/RenFaires and get it signed. That's how I bought my copy.

Pirates of World War II is the follow up to Pirates of the Wild West by Bryan Cantrell. This audio book is a touch over 11 hours long and was narrated by virtual voice. I will start with that just like the first book the voice selection was fitting.
The story jumps right into the action as it picks up right at the moment we were left in book one. I will say I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first book but that is not to say I didn’t enjoy it! I most certainly did! This one had a couple of interesting plot twists that I really liked as it left you sort of out in the open. The timing of the event was perfect as it helped to explain how things were flying a little loose for our time traveling friends and all the confusion going on and, well.... Not going to give a spoiler away! As a writer of time travel myself I really enjoyed some of the small stuff like the discovery of a light switch and things like that for the group from the past.
The world building was good as it wasn’t over the top which was good because most of us know our world and the events of WWII. Basically the author set the scene and let us fill in the blanks. I like that!!! Not sure if there will be a book three but like any good author they left a door open for one. Great job once again Bryan!
