Sylvie Cross has spent months running from a monster who stole her childhood. When she arrives in a quiet lakeside town for what should be a brief stopover, she never expects to find Adam Grimm—a man whose dark eyes seem to see straight through her carefully constructed walls.
Adam has been searching for something he can't name, until Sylvie walks into his world like a lightning strike. She's everything he never knew he needed, and he'll do anything to keep her safe. But Adam harbors a darkness that makes Sylvie's childhood monster look like a saint.
When obsession becomes protection and love becomes possession, Sylvie must face an impossible choice. Some monsters don't lurk in the shadows—they live inside the people we love.
The thing about the devil is no one knows what he looks like.
it was good I didn't like that it ended on a cliffhanger. Sylvie is broken and damaged with her own trauma so I guess it made sense for her to be attracted to Adam.
A haunting, powerful story about trauma, survival, and unexpected connection. The writing is raw yet beautiful, pulling you into the darkest corners of pain while still leaving space for hope. It’s unsettling, emotional, and impossible to put down—a book that lingers long after the last page.
