This book was only ok. I found the case analyses variably interesting and tedious. I understand that some of this came from the particular industries and topics that interest me, but there was also an issue in US-centric analysis. Very rarely were non-US firms studied. This is hardly conducive to a global management education.

The editing of this book was terrible. Grammatical and spelling errors throughout.

I read this book as part of an MBA strategy class I taught and will teach again. It is indeed a thorough study of strategy in a business environment. Comments from the students were that it was a bit wordy and heavy at times but does use quite a few real world examples and is fairly up to date. It is a dry read - don't look for any comic relief.

It was required reading, but this book does an excellent job of linking the complex ways firms make strategic decisions at the business and corporate level. I enjoyed it.
