Dating Goals

Rate this book
It started with dating lessons. It escalated to dodging bullets on a mountaintop.

Meet Griffin McGregor.

Hockey heartthrob.

Dating coach.

Accidental secret agent?

Griffin is the top goalie for the Toronto Titans. But due to an NHL lockout, he signed up for a temporary contract with a Swiss team… and got a meet-cute with a gorgeous, fist-throwing bartender.

Anika Gisler is sweet, blunt, and completely inexperienced in the dating department. She’s also in desperate need of a coach before her upcoming blind date.

And Griffin agrees to help. (For purely selfless reasons. Obviously.)

But when suspicious things start happening and Griffin ends up going undercover to expose his corrupt boss, the pair is dragged into full-on spy games with a side of international espionage.

Shaken, not stirred.

We’re talking train fights, ski chases, secret tunnels, and a poker game with suspiciously well-dressed villains. It’s very James Bond-coded. Good thing Griffin’s seen every 007 movie ever made.

Also now he’s falling hard—and may or may not be ready to burn the world down to protect the girl who’s never been kissed.

This is the final book in the Toronto Titans series, and it’s going out with a bang. Don’t miss the most epic, action-packed, slow-burn finale yet.

***Dating Goals This is a closed door, kisses only (but oh, what kisses), no-spice romantic comedy. The MMC is a cinnamon roll, and the FMC has never been kissed. It's all quite wholesome, but there are a few mild swears and light innuendo sprinkled in. Also, this is a high-adventure story with an accidental 007 adventure. Expect non-graphic fight scenes, chase scenes, supervillains, and alcohol consumption. (Hello, martini shaken, not stirred)

Anika and Griffin were off to a rough start from very different worlds. Griffin landed in Switzerland after his hockey team was placed on hold.

Their meet cute was hilarious and the sparks kept flying from there. This story had so many fun scenes and even some James Bond type scenes

All of this series is a fun one. Thank you Gigi for having me on your ARC team. If you love a great rom com I highly recommend her books.

Dating Goals was the perfect romance hat trick - overflowing with humor, heart, and hoards of hockey action!!!

I don’t even know where to begin - there is SOOOO much to absolutely love about this book. I adore a good GG story, much as the next gal, but this one was NEXT LEVEL!

Highlightables:

- The. chemistry. - Anika and Griffin had an invisible string between them that became increasingly taut (and interesting) as the story progressed.
- The bromance banter - The Visps hockey team and their (banter, antics, brotherhood) were absolutely heart warming and hilarious.
- The. Hockey. Action - I know zilch about hockey, but GG’s descriptions were on point, specifically had me on the edge of my seat - I could quite literally see it all play out in living color inside my head. I sorta feel like an expert now, thanks to you, GG.
- The. Swiss. Jass. Card. Guys. - These bozos were hilarious but added an absolutely perfect “found family” layer to the story. I loved every second of them and could have read 10 more chapters of their funny antics.
- The. Romance - No one loves a story which crosses borders, cultures, and distance like me (my own love story is cross-cultural)…but this one was an absolute home run! (I won’t say more for fear of spoilers). But. You. Will. Love. It.
- The spy who wasn’t a spy but thought he was a spy and really wanted to be a spy. That story line worked and added additional comedy that had me smiling uncontrollably.
- The language, the descriptions, the heart she put into this story was just simply beautiful. Overcoming obstacles, reaching for more, believing in yourself, believing in love. GG went above and beyond and I enjoyed every heart-warming second!

Notable Quotables:
- Teaser (hockey action): We have possession of the puck now. The Visp crowd roars as we race it up ice. Christoph charges through the opposition, with Peter on his flank. Tyler crashes into the mix, setting the tone. But Zürich ’s relentless. Their defenders converge, pinning us back. The tension is a living thing, hovering over the ice like a bad smell.
- Teaser (romance): She looks at me with those beautiful pale blue eyes, and I find myself stepping closer still. Aching to touch her. Counting the faint freckles playing against her nose.
- Teaser (a major theme): She mouths something. I squint, trying to decipher her silent message. Win. With one word, my brain clicks into hockey mode. The same clarity washing over me before big games. The buzzing doubt vanishes, replaced by the same laser focus I have on the ice. Who needs an earpiece when you have someone believing in you? My grandma’s words come flooding back to me. Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right. That’s a Henry Ford quote for ya.

This series finale was absolutely packed with heart-warming scenes, hilarious banter, and important life lessons. Every book in this series has been even better than the previous, but this one, folks, had me literally on my feet (in a celly) so many times! Griffin and Anika were absolutely “chef’s kiss”, and made for the perfect ending to the Toronto Titans Hockey Series. I highly highly highly recommend it!

Reader’s Notes:

-this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

-this is told from Anika & Griffin’s points of view

-there are about 4 curse/almost curse words (2 of them Swiss German words) + one mention of a character’s ex cheated giving another the middle finger (‘the bird’)

-there was some innuendo

Review:

I haven’t gotten to Cross Check Christmas or Grump and Ten yet, but I think this is my favorite of the Toronto Titans’ books that I have read! I loved getting to know Griffin (especially after his teasing in Offside Bride) and Anika! I loved how Griffin kept pursuing Anika, even when she wasn’t quite ready for it. I loved that Anika could take care of herself, but didn’t know how a date should go. I also loved the 3 guys who looked out for/hung out with Anika and Griffin! They were so much fun, especially when they were trying to swindle Griffin. 😂 I really enjoyed the way the series was wrapped up!

Summary:

When an NHL lockout keeps the Toronto Titans from being able to play together on the ice, some of them choose to sign onto other teams to keep themselves fresh while waiting. One of which is the Titans’ goalie, Griffin. When he travels from Canada to Switzerland, Griffin unexpectedly finds more than a temporary home. Between enjoying his time with the Swiss team, having the girl of his dreams waltz into his temporary home, and discovering a criminal conspiracy centered around his boss, Griffin’s life has become far more entertaining than he expected. And getting to live out his 007 dreams out to help capture the criminals with Anika by his side is the icing on the cake!

Anika can keep hooligans out of her bar, but suggest going on a date with someone and she feels extremely out of her depth. And when her friend sets her up on a blind date, Anika turns in desperation to the infuriating Canadian hockey player who won’t leave her alone. His flirt game is clearly way ahead of hers so he’d be the best option for a dating coach that she has. But with each date Griffin brings her on to show her how she should be treated, Anika is finding herself falling for the one man she shouldn’t. Because his time in Switzerland isn’t going to last, and Anika isn’t about to let herself be set up for heartbreak.

“It’s just dancing,” I tell my reflection. “Just dancing with a man who smells like pine trees and looks at you like you’re the Stanley Cup.”

This finale in the Toronto Titans series blew me away with the Bond-like spy adventures, slow-burn SWOONY romance, set in Switzerland. Griffin and Anika are fantastic characters with an undeniable chemistry, full of unexpected twists and turns that stole my breath.

Griffin is determined to play hockey and when his league goes on a lockout, he finds himself overseas having the cutest meet with a sweet but feisty bartender–Anika.

“I came to Switzerland to play hockey. Not to play spy. And not to fall for a woman who feels like forever in my arms.”

The trouble these two find themselves in is full of all the adrenaline pumping adventure, but in the midst of that, they find sparks that could melt the snow. I love solid, strong characters and this one delivers.

I love the camaraderie the teammates have, as well as the middle-aged card playing men who frequent Anika’s establishment. Dating lessons, never been kissed to 🔥elevator kisses, small town, he falls first, and allllll the dangerous escapades. Gigi Blume couldn’t have ended this series any better–from start to finish, it’s a winner.

Content: mild language; mild innuendo; mild romance

James Bond meet hockey romance, never been kissed AND a dating coach!? All of the books in this series have had a little hint of mystery or adventure that made them really fun... but this one definitely took that to the next level... and I was absolutely here for it! Right from that meet cute, I was laughing out loud... seriously, what a way to start a story! And the laughs didn't stop there! Griffin and Anika had such a fun dynamic between them- the chemistry was undeniable, and the banter? Oh, so good! I loved them! And then comes those 007 moments which only made it that much better! I absolutely couldn't put this one down and found myself unable to keep the smile off my face. I have enjoyed every single book in this series and while I'm definitely sad to see it end, it most certainly is going out on a high note--- my favorite of the series! If you're looking for a laugh out loud romance with all the James Bond vibes (and references), this is absolutely one you won't want to miss!

Dating Goals is a closed-door romance with kisses only with minor innuendo and language. It is the fourth and final book in the Toronto Titans series, and while you will see some familiar characters, I do think it could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely love Gigi Blume and this book was fantastic! What a different spin on hockey romance! I loved the 007 vibes and the spy action that was happening and the plot twist🤭. I binged this book so hard because, well action and hockey make everything better! Dating Goals for the win!

Griffin McGregor is goalie for the Titans Hockey team. He is renting a guy named Walter's Cabin that Anika happens to have a spare key and stops to use the bathroom.

Anika Gisler better known by Griffin as bathroom intruder.

Came out of the bathroom singing Blondie "One Way or Another badly at the top of her lungs. She threatened Griffin with a singing fish. 🤣

Anika is a bad A**. She knows how to take care of herself and I love that for our FMC!

Anika asks Griffin to be her dating coach so she will be ready for her date with the guy her friend, Ivy is setting her up with. She has never been on a date and never been kissed. Now she just has to try not to fall for her dating coach!

I want to first thank the author for allowing me to read an ARC copy of this novel.

This was an interesting read. I really enjoyed the character Griffin when I first began to read. I did not like the addition of Anika, the love interest. She's incredibly stiff and mean for no reason. The plot itself moves incredibly fast, and it doesn't exactly feel natural. This started out as a story where the main female character, Anika, is inexperienced with dating, and takes Griffin up on his offer for dating lessons. Out of nowhere, a spy theme is thrown in, and now Griffin is thrown into the middle of an investigation that feels incredibly out of place. Small details seem to change as well, such as Anika being blonde one moment then a strawberry blonde the next. A lot of the dialogue is cringy, and hard to read. Another portion, such as chapter 27, has way too many characters to keep track of what's going on. I'm aware that I may have missed some of the introductions of these characters since I jumped the gun from Book 1 to Book 4, but it seems a bit unnecessary to have so many characters in a chapter that you can't keep up with what's going on. I think the story could use some work, and it would be much better after some review.

I love this author for the wit and chemistry while keeping the romance clean so she's an auto read for me. I didn't even read the blurb so I was surprised when the story took a spy twist but it was a fun twist! The author did a fun and fantastic job with that thread. The right mix of humor, banter, and 007. The couple were perfect together, the classic polite Canadian and the martial arts expert by his side. We get all the feel good vibes from the story and camaraderie with the hockey team. I loved the adopted uncles and their little best kept secret at the end! Such great characters you root for and the villan you'll love to hate! I think this book is good for the reader who wants a good story that's a palate cleanser or who enjoys a fun story while still getting in solid a story with characters, story flow and all the technical makings of good writing. I usually stop and highlight parts but I burned through the story so fast!

I thought I was getting *just* a hockey romcom, but this was so much more! A temporary trade, some shady deals, and a cabin break-in all lead to an unusual arrangement for Griffin and Anika. It isn't just hockey anymore when Griffin gets recruited as a civilian, assisting the FIS with a case against his team owner.

I couldn't always tell who the good guys and bad guys were, but I LOVED the chemistry between Griffin and Anika. Between the trout silliness, Kung Fu, and a blue dress to die for, I was cheering these two on for the entire story. I love Griffin’s protectiveness balanced with a little neediness and Anika's very strong female lead. These two were a match made in heaven, no matter how long it took for them to admit it.

If you prefer your hockey romcoms shaken and not stirred, then you MUST pick up Dating Goals!

I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read. All thoughts contained here are my own.

This is the best book I've read, in as long as I can remember!
Griffin and Anika's story is amazing!
Never been kissed meets hockey life and throw in James Bond vibes... who knew this combination would work so well!
Anika is my new favorite FMC! She is not only a sweetheart but can single handedly take down grown men without flinching! I loved her vulnerability!
Griffin is such a softy and loved seeing that side of him!
Too many favorite scenes but to name a few, I loved the bar scene with Anika throwing down, the fish scene, and the car chase scene.
I laughed SO much while reading this and I couldn't believe it was over. I didn't want the story to end. What a conclusion to the series, it is beyond amazing! I will be buying this book as soon as it is released!
Thank you so much, Gigi for letting me be an ARC reader!

Dating Goals is a wonderful, riotous, romp through Switzerland! There was so much to love in this book. There's an interesting meet cute, 007 vibes, hockey (him), martial arts (her), date coaching and romance. So much to love and such fun. Seriously set out the snacks, get a comfy throw, a warm drink and clear your schedule before you start reading. (Thank me later!) You can get quite dizzy trying to figure out the good guys vs the bad guys in this over-the-top adventure. Anika is amazing at everything except dating so she turns to Griffin when her best friend insists on Anika having a blind date. There is very little down time in this book as a scandal unfolds that implicates Griffin's boss. There are lots of alphabet types running around vying for Anika and Griffin's help. You do not want to miss this action packed, well plotted book!

Dating Goals by Gigi Blume is the fourth book in the Toronto Titans Hockey Romance Series. This was the perfect rom-com with mystery, suspense, and an adventure all rolled into one. This would make such a fun movie. Griffin and Anika are both fun lovable characters with
great chemistry. And I just loved everything about this one. There is something for everyone in this book from elevator kisses (someone please get me a fan), spies, espionage, & bad guys that make me think I was on an episode of Kim Possible. This one had so many good tropes: a small town romance, a famous hockey player, dating coach, feisty and strong heroine, Touch her and die, never been kissed, one bed, and he falls first.

Things I loved:

*Griffin and Anika’s Meet-Cute. It’s one for the record books.
*Anika’s love of music
*He falls first
*Griffin makes me think of a big puppy, maybe a great dane.
*fight scenes and car chases
*Anika’s body guards

This one is available in ebook, paperback, audio, and in KU. So go grab yourself a copy.

The book blurb says that the MMC is a cinnamon roll—a sweet, kind, supportive, emotionally open person (I had to look it up)—and Griffin, a hockey star, is exactly that but he is also a very strong person and just what Anika, the FMC needed. Anika comes off as tough, and she is, but she is also vulnerable on the inside. I enjoyed their slow burn romance and my head was spinning trying to keep up with all the action as they were recruited for an undercover op and went into 007 mode. It certainly kept my attention! There were some steamy kisses but despite a one-night one-bed scene, the book was low spice. There were some innuendos and a few mild swear words as well. It’s been an enjoyable series and this was a great way to wrap it up!

This was a fun story about Anika who lived in Switzerland and found herself needing a dating coach. Griffin had been with the Toronto Titans but he was now part of a Swiss team while his team had a lock out. He agreed to be Anika's dating coach. I liked the fun, witty banter between the two characters and hoped a relationship would develop between them, if Anika didn't fire him from being her dating coach.
I also liked the romantic suspense over the coach of his hockey team in Canada. It was funny as Griffin related his adventures to spy movies. The book was full of interesting, wonderful action that added so much fun to the rom com that I could not stop reading. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

What a fantastic story, it grabbed me in from the beginning. I loved Griffin and Anika’s story. He is on the Titans Hockey team, but they were put on lockdown because of problems with the owner and agreements couldn’t be met. So, he went to Switzerland to play for the Visp. There he meets Anika, and what a funny meet-cute they had, made me laugh. Then she asks him to be her dating coach, he finds out she has never been kissed, and he is crazy about her. There is suspense and adventure, twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, some fun banter and humor that made this a book I couldn’t put down. A must-read story!

🌟 4/5
🌶 PG

What You Get:
📍Switzerland
• Bar Owner X Hockey Player turned amateur secret agents
• He falls first
• Bad ass FMC who knows martial arts
• Spies and secret agents
• For the love of 80's music
• The three musketeers sidekick

What I Liked

Spy/Action Romance
• I love a rom com, but when you throw in action, spies, secret agents, mystery solving into it..... 🔥! I love how this was written so the romance and the action aren't competing with each other, but lent to the overall plot.

Banter
• The romance and action was well written, but the banter and comedic moments were the perfect sprinkles on top.

Bad-Ass FMC
• A female bartender owner who also knows martial arts and can take down rowdy patrons? Yes, please!

Supporting Characters
• I am a sucker for a full cast of characters in a book that bring so much to a story, and this wasn't short of it. From the Jass players to Anika's mom. Even the villains and sub villains were great additions to the story.

What Could've Been Better:

Griffin's Assertiveness
• This is a personal opinion, so it didn't affect my overall rating. There were moments were Griffin's assertiveness and persistence was a little much. It is not the vibe I'd like to see in a MMC. It came off a bit pushy and arrogant, but I know there are some people who like it.

Skimmed the last 60% hoping it got better...

I've mostly enjoyed the other books in this series but this one was way off the mark for me. It was hockey (with limited hockey) meets Casino Royale\SPECTRE rip off (those are James Bond movies in case you don't know). The spy storyline was so unrealistic and distracting to me. There was no development of their relationship. They went from meeting to him giving her dating lessons (with him being head over heels immediately), to basically dodging bullets and all of a sudden being in love. It was totally predictable and had no passion or build up.

The best way the finish out this series. Anika and Griffin had one of the best meet cutes and their chemistry just followed along with them. Durning the NHL lockout, Griffin signs with a hockey team in Switzerland and plays with them until they can come to an agreement. But while he is there, he has a meet cute with a fish wielding lady, he agrees to be her dating coach to get her ready for her blind date and oh, don’t forget the international spy games he participated in. Including a high stakes poker game. The train ride was pure craziness and so was the ending of all the game.
Thank you to Gigi for my review copy. These words are my own.

I always enjoy Gigi Blume’s light hearted stories with plenty of characters that offer comic relief.

This installment in the Toronto Titans series had me giggling at all the situations the characters found themselves in and I was thrilled with all the movie references. This book was a fun from beginning to end. Anika is fierce, but also adorably awkward and Griffin is a big teddy bear who finds her endearing. Their dynamic was fun to read. I needed this happy story in my life right now.

Dating Goals is a fun and action-packed finale to the Toronto Titans series! Griffin is the ultimate cinnamon roll hero—sweet, protective, and impossible not to love—and Anika makes for a strong, relatable heroine. Their chemistry is adorable, with plenty of swoony “he falls first” moments and just the right amount of humor. The mix of dating lessons, hockey charm, and full-on 007-style spy shenanigans made this story unique and entertaining from start to finish. A lighthearted, wholesome rom-com with a dash of adventure—definitely worth the read!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I absolutely loved this book. Griffin had me laughing constantly throughout this whole book. The amount of things that I have highlighted, to the point I think I highlighted more then I didn’t. I loved the thrill factor of this book. I wasn’t ready for this to be over and the ending was absolutely amazing and had me laughing. This was definitely the book I needed this week and it made me laugh which was the goal. Can’t wait for more from this author

Absolutely love this book. It was a nice cozy romcom they gave me 007 vibes. The back-and-forth banter was great. I loved the plot. I love the tension. The between the two characters the pining I loved it. I loved that I read this so fast. It was so good. It was clean. It was funny. Just enjoyed it. I love Gigi Blume! When she writes these stories she has surprised me with each one and what the story is going to be about and I love that! This had more than hockey. The hockey was on the back burner and there was a mystery to solve bad guys to catch spying it was all good like I enjoyed this.

Griffin has found himself in Switzerland to play hockey. He rents a lovely chalet in a cute village and is ready to make the most of his time there. Then he is shocked by Anika bursting into the chalet, using his bathroom, and singing at the top of her lungs. Clearly, he needs to get to know this girl. Anika does not date, and she is realizing that she needs some help in that area. She trades Griffin dating lessons for language lessons. That is when things get crazy with the James Bond stuff. There is a lof of chaos, but Anika and Griffin get the HEA they deserve.

Favorite Quote:
“Holy hockey sticks. I’m in deep trouble here.
This was supposed to be simple. Help Anika learn to date. Spy on Malcolm Chase. Get information for the FIS. But nothing about this feels simple anymore. Not when my heart races every time she looks at me.”

That meet-cute!! 😍😂
Gigi Blume has done it again y’all! This was such a fun adventure romcom, from Canada to the Swiss mountains, I was hooked from chapter 1!

I really enjoyed the team dynamic and of course I can’t forget about the Jass players. 😂😂

Dating Goals

If you are in the market to read a funny spy story, this book is the one for you. During the NHL lockout Griffin agrees to play for a Swiss team. While there Griffin is caught up in an investigation against the owner of the Titans hockey team. He finds Anika amusing and attractive and there meet cute is one to remember. He agrees to be her dating coach while she will teach him the language of the country. She did not count on getting caught up in the middle of an international espionage game. Even the dangerous scenes were funny. Read the book and enjoy.

Anika is my new favorite FMC! She is BA! She's also super vulnerable which makes her that much more lovable. For Griffin's sake, I'm glad no other guy snatched her up! They are super adorable together. The spy stuff was a bit unusual, but as a James Bond fan myself, definitely kept me interested! Having so many of our favorite Hockey NHL team members and their significant others show up to help Griffin take down the guy who deceived them all is just good times!!

CUTEST 🥰
The Toronto Titans are the only hockey romances I’ve read. I adore them.
This book was just fun, hockey players, spies, fake dating.
One of the best book lines ever when he asks her to tell him how she feels about him - “I’m Swiss, I feel neutral about you.” Honestly, iconic and made me LOL.
I also loved the Jass players. They’re the cutest.
Griffin was a cupcake and Anika was rough around the edges but I did love her.
Thanks for the opportunity to ARC read this for you, these books never disappoint.

Hysterical Hockey With Spies

The Toronto Titans are all a little crazy, but Griffin's antics take the cake. Anika is a whirlwind all her own. Their Swiss story and relationship is so cute. It's when espionage, beatings and kidnappings enter that I realized I was no longer in a "normal" romance comedy. I laughed out loud so hard towards the end, I thought I was going to cry. What a perfect ending to this series. So much fun.

I love how this book felt like a fresh take on the slew of hockey romances that I have read. That might have something to do with the spy/suspense angle. It was so fun.
My favorite in the series.
The hero was protective and definitely pursued his girl. I adored how the hero found himself in a major fish-out-of-water moments. Some of them were downright hilarious.
The heroine was fun and relatable at the same time.
A fun read!
