Doxies & Donuts Mystery #3

Danger Lurks in The Three Hounds Bakery

Rate this book
Murder was never on the menu… until now.

Willa Lattner is settling back into small-town life in Humboldt Cove, running The Three Hounds Bakery and wrangling her three mischievous dachshunds—Killer, Kyle, and Wags. But when a friendly culinary competition turns deadly, Willa finds herself back in the middle of a murder investigation—whether she likes it or not.

The victim? A prominent citizen. The weapon? A poisoned bowl of chowder. The suspects? A room full of townspeople…and some of Willa’s closest friends.

Luckily, she’s not solving this one alone. With her three trusty doxies sniffing out clues (and snacks), Willa is determined to uncover the truth before the killer strikes again. But with secrets, rivalries, and a little too much chaos in the kitchen, can Willa and her short-legged sleuths track down the culprit in time?

A cozy mystery filled with charm, chaos, and canine hijinks—perfect for fans of fun, fast-paced whodunits!

I just adore this series about a cozy mystery writer and her three little "sausages" ... her dachshunds (Kyle, Killer and Wags)! I hope there will be more books in the series.

"[Suspect] smiled at Willa, and she was reminded of a line from Sherlock Holmes: when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Although this one took me longer to read than my usual, it isn't because I was having a difficult time getting through it. No, it's because I had other things going on in my life occupying my reading time.

This one had me stumped for awhile until I stopped thinking the best of people and started thinking like a criminal. In a book. A criminal in a book. 😆

One of the townsfolk drops dead during a chowder competition and everyone is questioning how it happened since one of the doggies was also negatively affected, but wasn't fatally affected. So the question became, how is the no-legged 15lb dog still alive and the 100-something pound human succumbed to his edibles?

There were a lot of dodgy happenings and we met Pilky's maybe shady brother that ultimately saved the day next to his German friends.

I imagine a book 4 is in the works now - I hope. This book was published early this month, so hopefully that means Titterington is going to keep up with more adventures for Willa, Mina, Jake, Tiny, and the 5-doggo crew!

And for my next book... it's Book 35 of 36 from Kathi Daley's The Inn at Holiday Bay series, released 09/02/25: "Wallflowers in the Window."

This was such a fun, cozy mystery! 🐶🥐

I really enjoyed this installment in the series. If you’re looking for a lighthearted murder mystery with charming characters, adorable dogs, and plenty of cozy vibes, this one definitely delivers.

Can we talk about the dogs for a second? They absolutely steal the show every time they’re on the page. I find myself looking forward to their antics just as much as the mystery itself. ❤️🐾

Another thing I love about this series is the little bonus at the end—the recipes! I always enjoy when cozy mysteries include recipes inspired by the story, and I’m actually looking forward to trying a few of these myself.

Overall, this was another enjoyable visit to the Three Hounds Bakery. Cozy mysteries, lovable dogs, delicious baked goods, and a mystery to solve… what’s not to love?

Great Series, Great Read!

This series is so very well written, and who doesn't love little dogs? The parts I enjoyed most are the emails that Willa writes to various family members. The humor they contain is off the charts. I've never laughed so hard while reading a cozy mystery, or any book for that matter. I laughed so hard that I literally cried! This author and her doxie series are a real treasure for cozy mystery readers. I look forward to reading the next book in this series!

I love this cozy mystery series featuring Willa and her dachshund sidekicks. After a mysterious death at a chowder competition in Humboldt Cove, there are several more deaths and a race against time to figure out who the culprit is. When I thought I had it figured out, the story went another direction. And towards the end, “ The Germans” cracked me up being a dachshund owner myself. I can’t wait for book 4 and hope there will be many more.

Twists galore and wait for the ending!

Normally, I've figured out "who done it" halfway through a book. NOT THIS SERIES! I've yet to get it right, but it makes perfect sense when the end arrives with all the evidence. The characters are fun and interesting and Willa doesn't think she's some great detective just because she writes mysteries. A fun and frustrating read lol

Another enjoyable mystery

Love to the Germans. You will enjoy this cozy mystery from first to last page. Reading it will give you the meaning of love to the Germans. I could hardly put this down till it was finished. Had me guessing like a good mystery should.

Such a fun entertaining book for lovers of mystery, murder, food & especially those adorable dachshunds. The doggie descriptions are so realistic. Especially if you own one…if you know. You know. Hope many more adventures will be added to this series.

Ok

The first two books were pretty good. The last one was disappointing. A good twenty five percent or more was snarky emails. The plot was dragging until everything was thrown at the reader at the end.

As a clam chowder competition goes bad, Willa, her Aunt Mina, and those three lovable doxies are on the case. This ending was definitely a little surprising. This is another wonderful series to escape in.

Doxies Rule!

A little confusing with so many characters, but the doxies were clearly on the ball! And the addition of the German Shepard made my day!
