Okay mafia is hard for me

Ivan and raise have been apart for 8 years. He made her think he left for another woman but he just knew they would never work because of who they were. Rival mafia groups. She was broken.hearted and pregnant.and had yo keep running to stay safe. Finally she goes to him for help. He is mad she kept.his son away but he a tally left her for the OW. He says he tried to fu@% her out of his mind but couldn't get his instrument to work. I didn't like that. What did he do with the women? Kiss them? Touch them? Or.what? I like it better if they never try. I know tomato/tomato! She was celibate too because she was busy struggling to make money and raise her son. Their reunion was very intense. The story was good and now I might read the others. I just hate mafia violence but I understood her need for vengeance and what she did at the end. Justice is served.

A Zombie had risen from his grave to haunt blood, to kill his own and to torment his own...

You dont really need to read Luka's story to read this one, I didn't and had no trouble following along since there seems to be quick rundowns scattered throughout this story. Nonstop action, love/lust, mystery solving and rebuilding of trusts since there is a daughter of a rival in the Dubinin's fortress and her father is still causing problems. Will Ivan and Raisa ever come to terms of their past, will Luka give his blessing to protect a rival's heir at all costs????

Ivan Dubinin, Russian, nephew to Luka Dubinin (Head of Family), only cousin to Luka's sons, Alexsei and Emil. Ivan lost his parents as a baby and Luka raised Ivan along side with his two sons. 35 years old, been single and couldn't be with another women for 8 years now since he lied to his only true love about cheating. He never did and lied to protect her since who she was, but he confessed to his cousin that he couldn't get it up for another, so 8 long lonely years Ivan had to watch happy couples, children and wished he never let his love walk away, but will blame her for his lies...

Raisa (Reesaw) Petrov, late 20s, the only daughter to Konstantin Petrov, old school Russian Head, where females are seen as property and to be sold off in marriage for power, so her father treated like property, always keeping her in his sight, not trusting her around a guy, name calling and hitting. One summer she lot lucky and found a fling and they both kept their last names unmentioned, but this fling lasted months and they both fell in love even after knowing they were from rival families. Until Ivan made up a story about cheating and walked away from his unknowing pregnant girlfriend. Raisa knew the same day Ivan walked away about her secret and something happened to cause her to run away and live in other countries for years, knowing Ivan will never know of his son, Lev... Until the Italians come busting down doors to take care of a weak link to the Dubinin family... Her or her son... She's no shrinking violet but she's only one person to protect her son from danger but she knows she must face her past to protect their son...

I really enjoyed reading this book, I thought it was a well balanced read and was well thought out. I loved the characters Raisa and Ivan. I thought Raisa was the ultimate Mamma bear. Keeping her son Lev safe all these years on her own. Only when it gets too dangerous she has no choice but to run to Ivan for help. Expect the threat is not who she thought it was. It's a really good read and I like little Lev he was a smart kid for his age and saw more than Raisa wanted. Excellent book recommend.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Raisa and Ivan met in another lifetime they loved each other always will but that was a lifetime ago while in college neither really didn’t know who the other really was and it didn’t end so well, but they always felt like what they did was the right thing for one another considering their families were enemies. Fast forward after thinking he cheated on her she runs hides for eight years but they find her knowing she is in trouble, and there is only one man who can protect her and their son but the moment he sees her and his son boy is he upset but he has no one to blame for the lies the deceit between them. The magnetic pull is still as strong as it was the day they met and the more they fight it the stronger the pull but can she forgive him, will she believe he didn’t cheat on her or the reasons why, will their families continue to fight, will they realize they are stronger together, will his son hate him, will they be honest about their feelings, and will they get their happiness this time around?

This contemporary Russian Dubinin Bratva enemies-to-lovers age-gap captive romance is page-turning, with exceptional world-building that is engulfed by danger, violence, and grit, and characters who are an alpha male exuding power/wealth, dangerous, ruthless, violent, brooding, and obsessive/possessive, a defiant, resilient heroine torn between fury and desire, both captivating and realistic. Iva and Raisa's journey is enthralling with forgotten vows, a mature, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy, sizzling forbidden passion, lust, desire, and spice, with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, forced proximity, a secret pregnancy, found family, drama, heartfelt emotions/emotional depth, deception, suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, loving a dangerous man, forbidden passion/age-gap romance, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with forgotten vows and a mature, explicit Russian Dubinin Bratva mafia romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly dark, sinful, achingly addictive, lustful, dangerous, and unforgettable.

Raisa and Ivan were in love but have been apart after they both made some questionable decisions thinking they were doing the right thing. They are reunited when Raisa and her son are in danger and she comes to Ivan for help. They are both angry at each other which is understandable, but the back and forth becomes a little tiresome. They never really sit down and fully listen to each other’s sides of the story, or apologise to each other, they just rekindle their physical connection which magically fixes everything. Raisa eventually owns up to her mistake, but Ivan continuously mentions what she did/how he is angry about missing his son’s life etc because of her, without ever acknowledging that he was part of her decision to run, he never owns up to his side or properly apologises. The main characters were underdeveloped and unlikeable, they felt two dimensional there was no depth, nothing to make me feel invested in them or their story. They were immature and not believable.

The book is dragged out but nothing really happens, the threatening situations, both in the past when they broke up and in the present, are empty vague threats, it feels like much ado about nothing. The premise sounded promising, and I usually really enjoy forced proximity, second chance etc, and I can forgive a lot when the characters genuinely show growth, but this just missed the mark for me.

Bk 2 was amazing. Raisa and Ivan meet when she is in college not knowing each others true identities and fall head over heels in love. Then find out their families are mafia enemies. But they can’t stop seeing each other and have 4 glorious months before Ivan sets it up to look like he’s been cheating with another woman in order to make her leave him for her safety. He never discovers she’s pregnant and she spends 8 yrs hiding running and staying off grid to protect herself and her son until one day she’s found and in danger. This forces her to run to Ivan’s uncle for protection where the story then unfolds of Ivan seeing her again, finding out she hid his child and the fallout from 8 yrs of lies and deceit between them, the families still being enemies and enemies out to harm them all. And knowing he still loves her desperately but will she ever forgive him the lies and will she ever actually believe they were lies because she’s furious and in no mood to listen to explanations. And the chemistry is as hit as ever but he doesn’t just want her body he’s desperate to get back what they had and lost and finally have the family he always dreamed of if she’ll just believe him and not everything he did to make her hate him 8 yrs ago.
Richly detailed characters, great world building, exciting plot.

This story wasn't bad, but could have been better. The story was very slow moving and while the characters weren't bad, I felt as though this story was circa 1990's vs. 2025. The way Raisa was seen as a disgraced woman by a tyrant of a father and the way she was looked at while under Evan's protection seemed much at times. There was allot of repetition in thought by each character and Ivan's character seemed so entrenched in showing allegiance to "the family", that everyone else became secondary. He mentioned throughout the book his dying support of the family while trying to insert Raisa and Lev into his life. I never felt like he really was able to put Raisa and Lev first, other than to protect them. The pecking order seemed off to me as to whom was important to him and who came after. The end of the book saw some cracks in his armor, but it was Raisa that was having to make the most changes to her and Lev's life in order to fit into the Bratva.

Raisa was very abrupt in her approach to ask for "protection" and was not a good communicator. Ivan was a terrible communicator as well which made the story difficult at times. They both grew on me as the story progressed, but initially weren't characters that I connected with. I never bought the initial story that Ivan was obsessed with Raisa based upon how he acted when he finally sees her years later. They spend allot of time blaming each other for their abrupt break-up that is never fully explained until the end of the book.

I loved Lev and the secondary characters that made the book entertaining and funny at times.

This is a binge worthy read.
Raisa successfully flees from her family as well as her lover's family to protect her unborn child. She sees someone following her as she goes home, she evades him only to find his accomplice in her home. She is forced to kill both of them. She questions one of the men before she kills him, who reveals she is a target since she has ties to the Dubinin family.
Raisa takes her son Lev to New York to Luka Dubinin the Pakhan of the Dubinin Bratva for protection. Ivan finds her at his uncle's home. He is furious because she hid his son from her, she in turn is livid because he dropped her and took up with another woman while he was with her.
They have a tumultuous path to resolve their differences and gain the support of Luka and the family.
The reconciliation is complicated by Raisa's father who was thought to be dead but contacts her and threatens her and her son.
The result is an ambush at the church Ivan and Raisa are visiting for their wedding.
The conclusion of the story is explosive and very surprising.
The plot was complex with the main characters finding love again but not without numerous roadblocks. The secondary characters add significant richness to the plot.

This had all the makings of a gripping mafia romance. The secrets, betrayal, danger, and a second chance love story that should have wrecked me emotionally. Ivan and Raisa’s reunion after years apart, and the added twist of their secret son Lev, definitely kept me turning the pages. The tension between them was raw and believable, and the danger surrounding their family added plenty of suspense.

That said, while I enjoyed parts of the story, it didn’t fully deliver for me. Some of the drama felt dragged out, and the characters made choices that were more frustrating than compelling at times. Ivan’s redemption arc was hard to buy into, and Raisa’s back and forth between hate and desire became repetitive. I wanted more depth to their healing and less focus on the constant push and pull.

Lovers of mafia romance will likely enjoy this read, but for me it landed in the middle...it wasn't bad, but not unforgettable either.

This is another wonderful addition to the Dubinin Bratva series.
This is another wonderful addition to the series by Ava Gray and I guarantee that readers will find yourself like me unable to put this book down until you read the outcome and discover what happens to the main characters.
Ivan and Raisa have been lovers until the day that he left her and she had been left alone and pregnant, she had given birth to her beautiful son Lev and she had guarded him with every breath she had in her body.
Unfortunately, eight years have passed and she has had to approach Ivan for his assistance to keep her son safe, someone has already tried to kill them both and now she knows that he is back in their lives and they will never be free again.
This is another action filled read by the wonderful author Ava Gray, you will be left looking forward to future books by her.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

This book was un-put-down-able!!! I devoured this book the minute it hit my kindle and was sad when I reached the end. I loved the storyline it was original, page-turning and had me feeling all the e emotions. Dark mafia romances are one of my favorite genres and this book is in my top five for this year!!! This book is part of the Dubinin Bratva series, and can be read as a standalone, but I recommend starting with Captive Vows. Ava Gray is one of my favorite authors and this series she has created is exciting and filled with all my favorite tropes. Especially this book!!! I loved a good second chance, forbidden relationship, a surprise. This book had drama, suspense, a little mystery, secrets, angst and summer smoking hot spice!!! Loved this book so much and I can’t wait to see what comes next!!!.

Raisa was born in to the mafia life. Her father was a monster. She met Ivan when she was on a college break. They fell in love but family ties got in the way. She ran back to Ivan when she was in more trouble than she could handle on her own. Her son was discovered to be Ivan’s child which made him a target. This is a roller coaster of emotions and events for both of them to overcome. This is powerful and beautiful love story with all the violence and drama that comes from being a mafia storyline. The author did a great job with all the characters and the storyline. It kept me very involved in the storyline. I couldn’t put it down until the end. I love the open ending of parts of this story that may lead us towards the rest of the family saga.

Raisa ran to protect her unborn child after the man she love walked away from her. Ivan walked away from Raisa to protect her from both of their families. It has been eight years and he knows she is still the only one he wants. When she shows up at his uncle's house with a boy that looks jut like him, he knows she has hidden his child from him.

Now that she is there, he has no intention of letting her walk away again. He just has to convince her that he still loves her and their child means everything to him.

Raisa is a Bratva Princess and is no shrinking violet, but she needs Ivan to protect their son from who is looking for him. This is an emotional story, with lots of violence and intense scenes between the main characters. Looking forward to the next in the Dubinin Bratva series.

Their story is eight years in the making, and worth every moment

Forgotten Vows is the second book in The Dubinin Bratva series. Be aware that this book can be read as a standalone but I think you will understand more and get a better understanding of the story, characters and dynamics if you have read the first book, Captive Vows. This story is about Raisa Petrov and Ivan Dubinin, and Lev, their seven year old son. This story will take you on a ride of your life, with heart stopping moments, sweet love, and sizzling hot passion. There is danger, family dynamics, suspense, intensity and a lot more which sweeps you away and wraps you up until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the characters, along with their journey to a perfect HEA.

Forgotten Vows had the making of a good story. Love, loss and lies. Mafia, betrayal and danger. But, this one just fell flat for me.

Although the premise was good, the slow pace of the story left me feeling bogged down. Also, the lack of depth and growth of the characters did not help. Their physical chemistry aside, the characters of Raisa and Ivan seemed to go nowhere fast. The constant blaming and not taking responsibility for past actions put them squarely in the immature teenager category. Which left them uncompelling and left me uninvested in their story arc.

7/10.

They are from rival families but their passion for each other had them sharing a summer together before he broke things off between them for her safety. It has been eight years since that time and Raisa has been raising their son, but someone is watching, and she feels that they are in danger so Raisa goes to the only person she can for safety Ivan. Knowing that he has a son Ivan brings them in but the connection he and Raisa once shared is not what it was beforehand. Will they find that spark and rekindle what they once shared. This story is intriguing and had me drawn to the characters.

A story about a second chance at love. Ivan and Raisa were once lovers until Ivan's family problems caused him to leave her, unaware that Raisa had her own problems, too. She had to flee from her father, who threatened not only her life but also the life of her unborn baby. They reconnected when she returned after years, and had no choice but to seek protection from Ivan and his family. Will they take a second chance? There are still the threats, the secrets, and the old wounds that must be overcome if they are to have a chance at love.

Forgotten Vows

This is Raisa and Ivan's story. It started 9 years ago before they realized who their families were. Ivan lied to Raisa to try and protect her from his uncle and her father. But he didn't know that when she left town she was carrying a secret. One that she moved around the world to keep hidden and protected.
Until she realized she needed more protection than she was able to provide. That was when she returned to New York and to Ivan. But things were anything but smooth.
There is fear, strength, kidnappings, attempted kidnapping and even murder. But that is nothing new in the world of the Bratva.

Book 2 in the Dubinin Bratva series is Forgotten Vows. This one is Ivan and Raisa's story.

"Ivan and Raisa’s story is dark, sinful, and
achingly addictive."

And it definitely "dark, sinful and addictive". These characters are incredible and Raisa is just a little bad*^*. Ivan will have his hands full! Their journey is intense and sooooo consuming with secrets, twists, turns, danger and surprises that pop out when you least expect them and up-ends everything. Forgotten Vows is absolutely fantastic!

Forgotten Vows

Ivan and Raisa

Ivan stepped away from the love of his life because of family politics. Raisa severed all ties with her family when her father threatened her and her unborn child and went on the run. Now 8 years later, she and her son seek protection with Ivan's family. Old hurts; threats; old enemies; reignited love; and finding a true family makes this second book of the series a worthwhile read.

Another page turner by the talented Ava Gray. Raisa Petrov knows she and her son are in great danger, so she flees to her forbidden lover of the past, Ivan Dubinin, for protection. Revelations bring a family to him eight years after he pushed his love away and now he will burn the world down to protect his family. I enjoyed their journey to finding each other again amidst the heart stopping dangers swirling around them. I could not put it down until the end.

Raisa was a mother determined to protect her son and going back to her hometown to his father Ivan’s family was the only way she knew how. Ivan has longed to have Raisa back but he never anticipated her running to him, let alone showing up with his son. A son he didn’t know about. Both hurt and mad over the past and present but unable to ignore the pull they feel for one another while trying to figure out how to keep everyone safe.

Great story!!

This is the second book in this impressive series and this is Raisa and Ivan's story.
This is a well written action packed, emotionally charged story, with family dynamics, friendships, tension, secrets, heartbreak, danger, suspense, intrigue, challenges, humour, witty banter, second chances, revelations, intense chemistry, and unconditional love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Ivan and Raisa had been lovers once until he left her, never knowing she was pregnant with his son Lev.
Eight yeas later needing protection she approaches him for help saving herself and Lev's life, someone tried to kill her.
Well that's a good start there's danger, lies and so many secrets, will they every get a second chance at love.

Awesome Read!

Wow! I love this story, Ivan and Raisa, went through so much to be together. Raisa had a terrible father who was angry because she would not submit to his will, so she took Lev and ran. She and Lev were discovered in Paris and she ran again, straight to the man who left her long ago seeking protection for her son. Things progressed and after all the things that happened they got their happy ever after.
