This book tells the story of Anushka, a young publishing professional who seems to have her life sorted until everything took a sharp turn after her breakup. Struggling to focus on work, she decides to take a break and travels from Bengaluru to Darjeeling to stay with her aunt, Meera.  One day she unexpectedly meets a filmmaker Richard from Dundee, Scotland while he lost his backpack which had his passport. Slowly Anushka's connection with him brings some excitement back into her world. The change of place is meant to give her peace, but instead, it opens up a series of unexpected turns in her life. I personally loved how the author has managed to describe the details without making the plot unnecessarily lengthy.

But fate adds more twists when Arush, a charming doctor enters the picture. Both men show interest in Anushka, and she suddenly finds herself in a state of confusion.. This is not the end, Anushka’s professional life pulls her back when her boss assigns her to work with Rehan Rathore, a best-selling author known for his controversies. With each character, the author brings in more twists and she struggles to understand what her heart truly wants. Overall, this book blends romance, humor, and emotional ups and downs in a very engaging way.

Anushka’s journey feels real and heartfelt, making readers curious to know who she finally chooses. The language used is rich and lucid, easy for the readers and even beginners to understand. The combination of amazing storytelling, simple writing style, fast-paced narration, well-developed characters and attractive book cover creates an amazing reading experience. It's a short yet gripping read which keeps the readers hooked throughout. Highly recommended. It is a light yet entertaining read for anyone who enjoys romantic dramas filled with twists.

Title - The Love Soup
Author - Tanushree Biswas
Genre - Romance

A prerequisite for a good novel to me is poetic prose. Now it might sound a bit exaggerated but it's a sin for a writer like Tanushree Biswas if she doesn't write more books and if she doesn't write fast enough. Let me explain why I said that.
There are so many books in the market with bad story telling and liquid, childish prose but then after an eternity when you finally find a good writer, you feel cheated because she hasn't written more. I would like to scream in her ears - "I have finished this one. What do I read before going to bed now? Write. Write. And then write some more." There are some writers who have a way with words. Trust me Tanushree Biswas is definitely one and she deserves to top the list of the best selling romance writers of India.
Now let's come to the plot of the novel. Meet Anushka Chatterjee, the twenty nine year old, gorgeous, kick-ass publishing professional who is going through a rough heartbreak. (Does she exist by the way? I would so love to offer her a few words of comfort to sail through the heartbreak. 😉) For being a twenty nine year old, Anushka is a bit immature though in a cute way which makes you want to protect her.
Now you can read this book any time of the year but you will be in for a treat if you pick up The Love Soup on a quiet rainy evening. Happy reading.

Honestly, I found myself reflecting a lot on my own life — how sometimes we think we have everything under control, only for life to toss in a few surprises that leave us in a delightful mess. Anushka’s journey from heartbreak to self-discovery really resonated with me; her vulnerability and humor made her feel like a friend navigating her own complex recipe of love and life.

The author’s writing style is engaging and lively, effortlessly blending humor with deeper themes. I loved how the story balanced romance, personal growth, and a touch of literary flair — especially with the intriguing character of Rehan Rathore, who adds both controversy and charm. The characters are well-drawn, each with their quirks and flaws, making their interactions feel authentic. Anushka’s internal struggles and her evolution kept me hooked, rooting for her to find clarity amid the chaos.

What really struck me was the way the story tackled themes like love, expectations, and self-awareness without ever feeling preachy. Instead, it felt like a sincere conversation with a close friend. The setting in Darjeeling added a lovely, almost cinematic backdrop that made the story even more vivid and relatable. I appreciated the gentle humor and the respectful tone the author maintained, especially when exploring complex emotions and relationships.

Overall, The Love Soup is a delightful mix of humor, heart, and human messiness. It reminded me that life’s most delicious moments often come from the unpredictable, and sometimes, we just need to let ourselves simmer in the chaos a little. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good read that’s as flavorful and comforting as a bowl of your favorite soup.

A story of finding love in today’s world.

Tanusree’s book takes you in a journey into the mind of the characters and you realise her protagonist is as real and relevant as your next door neighbour.

Grounded in reality and the times we live in, the story would connect with the current generation (Gen Z).

The book ends as lyrically as it begins. Go give it a read…

Tanusree Biswas’s The Love Soup is a charming concoction of romance, self-discovery, and emotional resilience—stirred with humor and served with a dash of realism.

The novel invites readers into the life of Anushka, a publishing professional whose carefully arranged world collapses after a painful breakup. Her retreat to Darjeeling becomes both a physical and emotional escape, setting the stage for a story that is as much about rediscovering oneself as it is about navigating love’s unpredictable flavors.

Biswas constructs The Love Soup as a modern romantic comedy that reflects the dilemmas of contemporary urban women.

Anushka’s encounters—with the charming Richard, the dependable Arush, and the enigmatic Rehan Rathore—are not merely plot devices but represent contrasting archetypes of love: fleeting passion, social compatibility, and intellectual connection.

Through these characters, Biswas explores how attraction often collides with expectation, and how emotional maturity can emerge from confusion rather than clarity.

The dialogues sparkle with wit, and the scenic Darjeeling backdrop adds a soothing calm to Anushka’s inner turmoil. Biswas’s writing balances humor with heartfelt introspection, making the reader both smile and reflect.

The pacing is brisk, and while the romantic entanglements might follow familiar tropes, they are executed with sincerity and a relatable emotional core.

Anushka’s journey also highlights the subtle pressures faced by professional women—the societal push to "settle down," the conflict between ambition and affection, and the courage it takes to prioritize personal fulfillment over convention.

In conclusion, The Love Soup is not just about choosing between men—it’s about choosing oneself.

It's an easy, engaging read that feels like comfort food for the heart: familiar, nourishing and unexpectedly profound. Tanusree Biswas serves a delightful literary meal that readers of contemporary Indian fiction and romantic dramedies will savor to the last page.

Must read♥️♥️

Imagine Geet from Jab We Met who got ‘rejected’ by a guy unexpectedly and went into the mountains to escape but instead of Aditya showing up to take her back and help her heal, Anushka in this book is met with not one, not two, but three eligible bachelors and end up in a love soup!

How will she choose? How will she heal? How will she get out of this mess? All these questions are answered in this book, wrapped up in beautiful atmospheric backdrops, fun and confused characters along with humorous and messy settings!

Because the book is short and quick, it makes for the perfect travel companion or weekend read. The length also makes it fast paced and pure fun. A dramatic escape that makes you giggle and smile and gasp!

The writing is extremely simple and easy to read which pulls your focus to the plot. Along with being a raunchy romance it also is a story of healing after a bad break up which gives it layers. My favourite part was the relatable ambience it was building around me - I could imagine it so easily because it’s a desi romance and now I also want to visit some of the places and see them for myself!

Overall I had a great time, pure fun, and I wish it was longer!!

3.5⭐

The Love Soup is a short, entertaining read. The story follows Anushka, a publishing professional dealing with a painful breakup. What follows is not a dramatic “fix-it-all” arc, but a very real healing journey. She takes a break to rediscover herself, meets different people along the way, makes choices, (some empowering, some questionable) and learns through them.

Anushka is portrayed as a modern woman: strong-headed, smart, beautiful, with her own set of imperfections. What I genuinely loved is how close the story stays to reality. Not every connection is right. Not every relationship is meant to last. Mistakes are inevitable, and growth often comes from exploring paths we later rethink. The book beautifully celebrates womanhood, flawed, strong, impulsive, and resilient all at once.

Though I did feel the story briefly shifts towards a darker direction near the end, almost setting up a more intense turn and while this is quickly resolved, it makes the conclusion feel slightly rushed. The ending comes together well but feels a bit abrupt.

Overall, The Love Soup is a light yet meaningful read with a simple but powerful message: life happens, heartbreak happens but what matters
is choosing to keep going.

The book tells the story of Anushka, a publishing professional whose break-up pushes her to take a break in Darjeeling. As the story unfolds,  it takes the readers into a rollercoaster of romance and drama. From the very first encounter with Richard, the charming Scottish filmmaker, you know things won’t stay calm for long. Soon, Anushka finds herself caught between Richard, Arush the doctor, and later, the famous author Rehan Rathore. Each new entry in her life makes the story more exciting. The balance of humor, attraction, and confusion keeps the plot moving quickly, and it’s easy to connect with Anushka. Do read this book to know whom does she choose over the rest. It's a simple read which literally made me smile. It's after a long time that I have read something which made me feel like I want more. The characters are really amazing. The language used was simple along with an easy writing style. I would highly recommend this book to every individual. I have been to the hill station Darjeeling ( it's so pretty) and it's description adds to the beauty of the plot. Kudos to the author for writing such a mind-blowing novel.

Tanusree Biswas’s ‘The Love Soup’ is charming and quaint, and takes you on quite an emotional journey. So, what does the author’s soup have for the readers? The flavours change from scene to scene, but are impeccable. There is more depth, and flavour at each turn, making this book a sheer delight to read. At certain junctures in the story her words offer a curious comfort, a sort of balm, you didn’t realise your soul needed.

The author has a knack for setting scenes beautifully, and the reader is as much at home in the tea shop in Darjeeling as we are at book launch events across the country, and finally in the royal palace in Rajasthan. The conversation is witty and breezy, but inner dialogues sink in deeper. Finally, the characters are etched lovingly, they are wonderful and full of imperfections.

From the first page ‘The Love Soup’ had my attention and held it till the last. A wonderful debut for this author!

Anushka has not recovered from her break-up as her boyfriend simply blocked her. A chance incident brings her in contact with a Scottish Asst. Director . While she is trying to sort her feelings about him she finds the man her mother had pushed her to meet as part of her match-making turns out to be much better than her expectations. To make her head spin faster , the author she was managing and who hated her suddenly did a volte-face. Tanusree has developed this beautiful love story against the backdrop of sleepy Darjeeling and royal Rajasthan. A definite romance read!!!
