He’s everything she was raised to avoid—and everything her heart refuses to forget.
Sent from the glittering ballrooms of San Francisco to the sun-bleached hills of Sagebrush Flats, Alouette 'Lou" Bloom never expected her world to unravel with the kick of a horse and the glint of a cowboy’s eyes. Tasked with settling her late uncle’s affairs and selling the ranch she barely remembers, Alouette arrives with fine silk dresses and every intention of leaving quickly—until one look at the land, and the man who tames it, stops her cold.
Tex Wilder is all rough edges, steady hands, and simmering heat beneath a quiet exterior. He doesn’t have time for city girls who wrinkle their noses at honest dirt—or at least, that’s what he tells himself. But the moment Alouette stumbles into his world, all fire and defiance beneath her polished surface, something shifts in him. Something dangerous.
As Alouette is drawn deeper into the heart of the ranch—and into Tex’s orbit—her carefully built defenses begin to crumble. Every look from him sparks something fierce. Every accidental touch lingers too long. And when tragedy strikes, binding them together in the most vulnerable of ways, the line between duty and desire blurs beyond recognition.
In a place where love is as wild and unpredictable as the land itself, Alouette must decide whether to return to the life she knew... or risk everything for the one man who sees her as more than a name, more than an obligation—someone worth fighting for.

Hope Runs Deep: A multi-Author collaboration to help benefit those affected by the floods in Kerr County, Texas Wilder Bloom by L.D. Wosar It’s the finest silks & high society meets dusty denim & old leather. Alouette “Lou” Bloom and Archibald “Tex” Wilder are complete opposites whose worlds collide causing some sparks to fly. Lou, a San Francisco debutante must travel to Sagebrush Flats, Texas to settle her late uncle’s estate, likely selling the ranch she barely recalls. Like a fish out of water, she quickly learns what a hard days work is really like. Tex, a hard working, rough & handsome ranch hand will have his hands full for sure. With her father breathing down her neck to quickly settle things and return home to be married off to some rich gentleman suitor, how will Lou ever decide what the right thing to do is, especially after catching the eye of the likes of Tex. Intrigue, scandal with a few twists, not to mention a side of heat, this story will check all the boxes. An enjoyable read for a good cause ~Angie❤️
Lou is suffering through potential suitors being paraded by her and wants none of it. When her father sends her on a mission across country to evaluate a late uncle's ranch, Lou finds Tex. I thoroughly enjoyed their story.
This was a really good book! I don't typically read historical romances but I really enjoyed every page of this story. Everything is so beautifully written and the couple of spicier scenes were done perfectly.
I loved the way that Lou stood up to her parents when they tried to force her into being with someone that she didn't want to be with instead letting her be happy and with the man that she loved.
One of my favorite scenes was when she made the decision to go back to Texas to be with Tex. Another was when she was working with the chickens. That scene was pretty funny.
My favorite character from the story was Lou's brother, Julian. He is so funny and I love the way he teases her about being in love with Tex.
These are just a few of my favorite lines/quotes from "Wilder Bloom" if I shared them all, this review would be a book itself. My Kindle copy is a sea of blue and yellow highlights and bookmarked pages.
"If one more person told me I was “at the perfect age to secure a promising match,” I was going to throw my teacup at the nearest eligible bachelor." {Chapter 1, Page 10}
"He didn't even glance at me, which was fine by me. I wasn't about to turn into a giggling schoolgirl, ogling a handsome stranger with perfect shoulders. Still, I did sneak a peek. Once, maybe twice. Purely for observation, of course." {Chapter 2, Page 30}
"Her silence, heavy with unspoken judgment, delivered its own sentence. “You’re still young,” she said tightly. “You’ll come to your senses.” I turned from her, voice trembling but spine straight. “Then I hope, for your sake, you never learn what it feels like to fall in love with someone the world says you shouldn’t.” {Chapter 23, Page 115}
"Julian let out a slow breath and held me tighter. “You don’t have to go down there, you know. I’ll tell Mother you’ve got a headache. Or the flu. Or that you’ve spontaneously combusted.” {Chapter 31, Pages 163-164}
"I loved her, more than I cared to admit, but I knew there was no future for us. She was silk…I was sin in denim and a dirty Stetson." {Chapter 30, Page 156}
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I don't normally read historical romances but after reading Wilder Bloom, I'm open to finding some more historical romance stories to try and hopefully enjoy. 🙂

Step into the world of Texas and California during the late 1800s. A multi-talented writer who creates vivid worlds in many genres captivates the readers with her newest story. Alouette, or Lou for short, lives in San Francisco with her parents and brother. She has just turned 18, and her parents believe it’s time for her to marry an influential gentleman to bolster the family connections and wealth. Read along with the humorous antics the gentlemen callers put Lou and family members through believing they are the pick of the crop. Lou grows frustrated with her mother’s insistence she marries. In comes her father, who has raised Lou to think independently and taught her to keep the books of the family business. A fresh opportunity in Sage Brush Flats, Texas needs her attention to details. Her late uncle’s ranch needs to be evaluated to see how much it can bring on the market. Lou, never one to back down from any challenge, accepts the assignment. Lou will see more than meets the eyes upon arriving in Texas. Between the crabby and bossy maid of the ranch, the overseer, and Archibald, or Tex for short, she will face more adversity and challenges than ever before. When she falls for Tex and wants to keep the ranch, she will have to face the opposition her parents display. She will face many betrayals, her heart yearning for what only one man can give her. This is a beautifully written story containing a lot of humor, betrayals, a once-in-a-lifetime love story, arguments, challenges, and many other tropes for diverse readers. The world building of the characters is well developed. The story is true-to-life. I really became engrossed in the story and wanted to cry, shout, and knock heads together. I also laughed aloud at the antics our “Lou” goes through learning to transform from a citified woman into a ranch hand. I laughed so hard in a few spots I had to grab the Kleenex so I could wipe the tears off my face. I truly enjoy reading the books by this very gifted author whose writing abilities will keep your eyes glued to the book until the last page. I know that I truly want another story in this series about her brother Julian and his exploits. I would love to hear more about the other characters as well from Wild Bloom. I sincerely hope this warps into another series.
This is part of the Hope Runs Deep Charity for Texas Flood Victims. I read Wilder Bloom as an Advanced Reader Copy, and am voluntarily leaving a review. Alouette "Lou" Bloom was a society gal in San Francisco who was used to dapper, if not overly exciting men who escorted her to various events as a young woman being introduced to society...but then her father tasked her with settling her deceased uncle's estate in Sagebush Flats...of course she was completely out of her element, but enjoyed the ranch life...meeting Tex Wilder who doesn't have time for a city girl with stuck-up attitudes, but each accidental touch tells a different story...but you will need to read to see if a city gal can become a rancher...
I love cowboy romances. Add in the fact that this story is part of a charity endeavor from multiple authors and it made it that much more special.
"Lou" is a city girl whose father is trying to find her a husband, which is not what Lou wants for her life, at least not a loveless marriage. So when the opportunity arises for her to go get her late uncle's ranch ready for sale, she doesn't hesitate.
She meets Tex there and is smitten by the handsome cowboy. But with her time at the ranch limited, will she take a chance on love?
Enjoyable story of a debutante looking for more to life than an arranged marriage and just being an ornament. Travelling to Texas to sort out an inheritance she finds way more than expected. I thought Lou was a delight, open, honest and determined to show everyone what she was made of. I don't read books of this era these days but for the most part this came across as fairly modern so it made it easy to love.
Lou's story - a debutante, society girl who gets a taste of a different type of life. Includes situations, adventures, drama, making life choices, romance, emotions, and interactions. Well woven plot with interesting characters.
Alouttee (Lou) Bloom may be a debutante, but she knows she's destined for more. When she finds herself in Texas, she finds more than a ranch, but her own cowboy, Texas Wilder. They aren't supposed to fit, but their love story is perfect.
A nice easy read with small amounts of angst. The old tale of love across the classes will never grow old. The high society girl (Lou) going to assess a family ranch with selling in her mind soon changes it as she learns about running it. And who wouldn’t fall for the handsome cowboy? When Lou gets called back home, she has a very big decision to make. Loved it.
