Josie & Dorian first meet when they’re stuck in an elevator together for 10 hours. Yikes, sounds very uncomfortable. They get to know each other very well and form an instant connection in such a short amount of time, but the problem is that he’s married so nothing can ever happen between them. They go their separate ways and then we flash forward a year and now they’re working side by side.

Even though this gives the insta~love vibe it was a super slow burn due to her working for him and it being forbidden. I can usually give or take slow burns, but I didn’t hate it for them because I felt like they really got to know each other in an organic way even with the yearning and tension. Don’t worry, he’s no longer married and thank goodness for that because they were not good together. But alas they cannot deny their attraction…

Love isn’t about guarantees or safe choices. It’s about taking a leap of faith, even when the landing is uncertain. And maybe the heart really knows best.

and you can probably guess what happens when something is deemed forbidden.

I really liked Josie's commitment to her sister, Lily, and niece, Penny, and I'm thrilled for a sequel for the happily ever after they deserve.

Overall, I thought it was adorable with top notch sassy banter. Most characters were fabulous, except for a couple. He was the sweetest rockstar I’ve ever read, and I’ve read like 2 😂, and he gave us some swoony moments. He does sing quite a bit, which is understandable, but I'm not sure I could handle someone singing to me all the time, I'd probably bust our laughing. Lastly, can I get a hallelujah for proper communicating adults?!

Narration notes:
I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the above info for reference. I am thrilled to see 2 narrators, though!

Whenever I read a book by Camilla Isley, I want to kick myself for not reading more of her books! She always delivers and with You Rock My World, she rocked my joy of reading her romance books! I always fall for her characters, their banter, the plot and the journey they go on to be together!

Josie first meets rock star hottie, Rian Phoenix, when they get trapped overnight in an elevator together. They share snacks, witty banter, and secrets. There might have been a little attraction between them as well. Once saved from the elevator they go their separate ways but will their 'trapped-in-an-elevator meet-cute' stay with them????

A year later, Josie is asked to take over as Rian’s PR manager. The attraction is still there. But Josie can't fraternize with clients let alone have a relationship with them. What's a girl to do????

As I always say, it is all about the journey with romance books. Both characters were likeable and fully fleshed out. I liked Josie's relationship with her sister and niece. Rian has issues with his ex-wife and her struggles. I enjoyed both characters individually and as a couple. I enjoyed their chemistry, banter, and vulnerability with each other.

If you have read Camilla Isley before, you will swoon over this book. If you have not read a book by Camilla Isley, give this one a read, it will be music to your ears. Camilla Isley excels at witty and sexy banter, drama, and creating characters readers care about.

Gripping, hard to put down, charming and swoon worthy!

One Liner: Depends on your expectations

When Josie gets trapped overnight in an elevator with Rian Phoenix, a popular rockstar, their connection is immediate. However, they weren’t meant to be, so she walks away.

A year later, Josie is reassigned as Rian’s PR manager. Neither of them has forgotten each other, but it is important to keep things professional. Can they find their HEA somehow?

The story comes in Josie and Rian’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

I’m not really into rockstar romances, though I read a couple. However, I enjoyed this author’s works before, and some GR (Goodreads) friends liked the book, so I grabbed a copy for myself. It sure had some emotional scenes, even if I expected a bit more.

Firstly, the start is good. We get the MCs’ first meeting (elevator scene) in alternate chapters in Dorian’s POV. I hoped these would be at least two or three more, given the kind of connection they were waxing lyrical about. So, it was a little disappointing to see that the interaction really wasn’t the kind of deep soul-stirring experience I had in mind.

The banter and texts were fun, something the author writes well. The side characters like the FMC’s family were good too (though I will never find it funny when old women cross boundaries with young men. If it is perv when a man does it, it is perv when a woman does it).

On a side note, I’m delighted that Lily is getting the next book. I have a feeling it will be better than this (and I have a guess on who the guy would be). Let’s see if I’m right!

While we do get enough about the MMC’s career, the FMC’s role as PR seems… useless. TBH, I haven’t seen her do a single thing about her job. Even when she should have been working on it, she doesn’t! And the resolution, though sweet, is becoming too cliché and frequent in this genre. The career stakes have to be aligned at all times, especially if it has been used for promotions!

The romance is a combination of insta-love and slow burn. Not sure how they fell in love because that was a bit too fast. Luckily, the slow burn balanced it out a little. It still tips heavily towards physical attraction, but there are some really wonderful moments.

Despite the issues I have (which are likely due to my high expectations), I can’t deny that I didn’t want to stop reading. I had to, of course, but I couldn’t wait to get back to it again.

As people, yes, they are very well done. That’s because the characters communicate. They talk about the difficult stuff. The tough conversations and apologies also happen. Of course, there are some arguments as well, which show their vulnerabilities. I like the lack of pretence in this one; no acting like one thing when feeling something else.

To summarize, You Rock My World has all the ingredients and packs some solid emotions, but I do wish they were backed by a little more depth. Rounding it up since I felt compelled to keep reading!

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

Rockstar Romance

This story was sparked by a dream so vivid, it felt less like sleeping and more like watching a movie I didn’t want to end.

In this dream, a woman hid away in the study of a Hollywood mansion, trying to escape a party she never wanted to attend. She was scanning the bookshelves, plotting her exit strategy, when he appeared—a man she was supposed to admire from a distance like everyone else, not run into twice by accident. Now, he’s blocking the doorway, looking directly at her with a smirk and saying, “Hello, stranger.”

That was it. That’s all the dream gave me. But it was enough.

I needed to know who she was, why she was avoiding him, and what history made his voice send a chill down her spine and heat up everything else. One question led to another, until a full story unfolded—one about inconvenient timing, magnetic pull, and one woman’s very bad habit of falling for the one man she absolutely should not want.

What she doesn’t know when he walks in? He’s not married anymore. (Main characters cheating isn’t a trigger warning here, don’t worry.)

I hope you fall for this story the way I did—helplessly, shamelessly, and all at once.

Happy reading,
Camilla

Loved this book!! Seriously loved it.

Forced Proximity / Stuck Together Cozy Romance that continues to build upon a beautiful storyline.

Trapped in an elevator is how they meet…. But as time goes on, after the incident, the story blossoms.

Honestly, the love and relationship building in this book is a very slow burn, but hot, filled with sexual tension, and true.

The relationship is built honestly. It’s built on life’s truths and an adorable, real friendship.

I love how the characters take their time and truly get to know, accept and love each other for who they truly are, inside and out. The good, the bad and ugly. Relationships like these are built to last, in my opinion.

This story filled me with warmth and happiness while reading. The growth of the 2 main characters relationships is fantastic and real.

The comical banter between them is great as well.

Well written and a great storyline. Like all great love stories, there are always obstacles to overcome…. This book stays true to that.

Highly recommend.

3.0✨

So the story is about Josie and Dorian, who find themselves trapped in an elevator for hours at the beginning of the book, but the actual love story starts a bit later.

I did like the overall storyline: a PR falling for a rockstar. I’ve enjoyed Camilla Isley’s stories before, so I was hopeful about this one as well. Unfortunately, it fell a little flat for me. Yes, the romance is there, but it leans more toward insta-love and feels a bit shallow at times. I would’ve loved to learn more about the characters individually, rather than focusing almost entirely on their relationship. For me, that is essential to really connect with them.
That said, it’s not a bad read, and if you don’t mind a fast-burning rockstar romance, it’s definitely worth a shot!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read "You Rock My World" before its official publishing date.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this as an arc!

You Rock My World follows Josie, a normal gal, and Rian, a famous rockstar. The two of them meet in an elevator and end up having to spend several hours together when said elevator gets stuck, due to a power outage. Their connection is instant but they both know they lead completely different lives and that this new connection can't survive out of the elevator. Fast forward a year, they end up having to work together and that's where their story picks up again.

First of all, this was my first Camilla Isley book. I've seen her books recommended multiple times and I heard a lot of good things. I should've listened to those people, because I really enjoyed her writing style. I will definitely check out the rest of her books.

Now, let's talk about this book. I loved the premise of a rockstar falling in love with his PR agent, but unfortunately this didn't convince me fully. Josie isn't a PR agent, she works in PR yes, but she doesn't work for celebrities, so we see her enter a completely different side of the PR world and literally have no clue what to do. And since she doesn't know what to do, we almost don't see her work. Like, she could've been a random person and the story would've been the same. Idk, I think I personally would've enjoyed seeing the FMC actually do her job.

Another thing that left me a bit confused is the fact that this is a slow burn, but at the same time it feels very insta-lovey. Things are slow from a physical point of view but from and emotional point of view everything goes really fast, and that's just a bit confusing for me.

I overall enjoyed this, and I would definitely recommend it even though I wasn't fully convinced.

This was a sweet slow burn and utterly addictive forbidden romance story.
Dorian and Josie get trapped in an elevator together, and for 10 hours they connect and get to be themselves without judgement, even if it was only for that one moment. Skip to a year later when Josie is hired as the PR manager for Dorians band, and you are immersed in a passionate story of second chances.
I loved both characters, Josie was funny and bold, and Dorian was caring and patient.
I loved that they could both share their vulnerabilities and complimented each other so well, and I loved their chemistry and banter.
This had a fun mix of insta-lust and pining, but remains a slow burn as they are forced to keep apart until they solve their respective life and work dramas, and for Josie to decide if being with a rockstar is worth all the risks.
It was so honest and swoony, I loved all the sweet gestures, and it still kept you on your toes with tension and drama.
This was a cosy read that will have you kicking your feet.

Wow. I was hooked from the very beginning. I adored the characters, plot, everything. This book has short chapters and is fast paced so that before you know it you have finished the whole book. If you are looking for a quick read then this book is for you. I would recommend this book to lighthearted romance lovers who like a little bit of spice.

I was so excited to start a rockstar romance where I would be transported to feel those rom-com movie vibes but was instead disappointed. I am not a fan of insta-love and I felt that the MCs relationship progressed so fast where I didn’t feel the chemistry from them. Essential there was no foundation or progress to the relationship. Overall it was dull and flat. Now, the main deal breaker where I decided to bring my rating down to a one star would be how insensitively Rian’s ex wife is described as an “addict”. The author could have phrased and described sayings, scenes and characters so much better. Perhaps one more edit should of been done. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Isley's books can either be a hit or miss for me, and unfortunately, this one was a miss. However, one thing I always find to be true for her books is her highly engaging writing, even if I don't love the plot or characters. The pacing was perfect in this one, Rian and Josie are interesting enough characters, but I don't see how they fell in love with each other so madly (though part of me does, with their cute banter and interactions). Highly unrealistic to me that they both got stuck in an elevator together for ten hours. Even more unbelievable they are in a relationship in such an unsubtle way and yet never get caught with it. I know books aren't supposed to be realistic, but all of this was so farfetched. I was however intrigued by the character of Rian's ex-wife Billie. I might actually read a separate novel featuring her as a main character, because she stood out to me so much in whatever little appearances she had in this book. There's potential there.

3.5⭐-

Dorian (aka the rockstar Rian Phoenix) and Josie find themselves trapped in an elevator overnight. They both find themselves attracted to each other and feel the night was one to remember, but there's one thing holding them back- Dorian is married to the pop star Billie. They both go their separate ways but the memories and feelings linger.

A year later, Josie is assigned to be Dorian's PR manager and is floored to find out that the marriage she swooned over, was more complicated than she could've imagined. But they are forbidden to publicly and even privately explore their feelings for many reasons.

I enjoyed the plot of this romance and that there were real life struggles involved, but I struggled with how many corny descriptions there were throughout. One look at each other would spear an arrow through their heart. Looking at his abs would make her feel Pop Rocks in her stomach. (To name a few over-the-top feelings) I felt that both of the main characters became obsessed with each other, which in my opinion felt rushed and a little toxic. The tension was there and the chemistry, but it felt more described than felt through the pages at times.

There were some scenes that had me hooked when it came to the drama with the ex-wife and a dramatic scene with Dorian while he was performing. I liked that he had a ton of green flags, although he was toeing the line between love bombing.

I overall liked the ending, but it was so incredibly late for the spice to finally happen. I usually prefer the first kiss and spice to happen before 80%. It would've been nice to have an epilogue.

I was happy for Josie in the end career wise and I would be interested in exploring the next book. Lily deserves her chance at love again!

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for an arc copy, all opinions are my own.

Gosh!

The way I breezed through this book!

It was such a fun, quick read.

Rian and Josie meet in an elevator and end up spending hours together talking ( so cute). They both feel a click and chemistry but of course they can't do anything about it because well, Rockstar.. and also.. married. What Josie doesn't know is that Rian's marriage is on the Rocks.

They part ways but Josie meets him a year later as his PR rep to help as he goes through his split

Once again .. "chemistry" but they can't act on it because of Rian's split with his wife and Josie needs to protect her job. They keep their feelings and "friendship" on the low and when the time comes.... oh boy!!

I'll just say I was smiling like an idiot .

Recommend as a fun, quick Rockstar romance that will leave you smiling at the end!

Many thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood books and author for the opportunity to read in advance and share my thoughts.

One year ago, Josie was trapped in an elevator overnight with rock star Rian Phoenix. And by the end of it, she's fallen for Dorian, the man behind the bad boy image. But he's married, so she stuffs that longing down deep. Now, with Rian's PR manager on maternity leave, Josie has been reassigned just at the time his divorce is being announced. Rian never forgot her either, but a new relationship now would be detrimental to both of them. How can they keep things just friends when they feel so drawn to each other?
This is a slow burn sweet romance with lots of pining and emotions. I liked how down to earth Dorian is with Josie, completely separate from his public persona. The fallout didn't happen as I expected, but was even better! The hateful ex deserved her fate lol!
I received a complimentary arc of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Camilla Isley is one of my favourite authors who always delivers a fun, witty and entertaining story. In You Rock My World, rockstar Dorian ‘Rian’ Phoenix gets trapped in a lift with PR assistant Josie during a city wide power cut. Considered a low priority by the emergency services and not expecting to meet again, the pair spend 10 hours in the lift, sharing stories and secrets to pass the time, forming a genuine bond in the process.
The story unfolds when they meet again a year later, and is told from alternating points of view and a dual timeline, which works really well and keeps it interesting.
If you love a feel good romance with main characters you can really root for, this is a wonderful example of the genre. I can't wait for the next installment!

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

After a weirdly magical night stuck in a lift with Rockstar RIan Phoenix, Josie finds her crush on him having exploded, because on top of being a rockstar, he's actually a really good guy. So a year later, when he requests her as his PR Rep, when his usual rep goes on Maternity Leave, Josie has a bit of a touch job in front on her. Keeping it professional! lol...

I loved this story. I loved how Rian persued Josie, and yet how he goes out of his way to protect her. There are so many fun, and romantic, and fairly deep scenes. The characters learn so much about themselves and each other as they work together, and as they make big decisions about their future.

This was a fun, quick read with a fabulous HEA!

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 on Goodreads

I really liked this book—it was fast-paced despite the slow burn, which made it a super quick and fun read! The characters were adorable together, and Josie (the FMC) was great, but the real star of the show was Dorian (the MMC). I just love when the man is a complete simp and would do absolutely anything for the woman he loves.

There is a bit of ex drama, though—his ex-wife struggles with addiction and makes some pretty questionable choices that impact everyone. But overall, it’s a cute and swoony story!

Read if you enjoy:
• instalove
• rockstar x PR manager dynamic
• yearning
• sassy heroines
• he falls HARDER

A fun time overall!

Josie and Dorian (Rian), the 2 main characters in this dual perspective book both have things they're dealing with. After getting stuck in a lift together, sparks fly but unfortunately, they're not entirely destined to be together. The book starts off this way, with a flashback, before then returning back to present time. The flashback provides a good opportunity to understand the characters and their feelings towards each other at the start of the book.

Whilst I enjoyed reading this, just a word of warning that there is some form of TW and emotional abuse from an ex throughout the book. Whilst not physical, there are a number of scenes where this is really evident.

Generally though, another book I liked, but not one I flew through.

The beginning of the book really engaged me. Dorian, a rock star, and Josie, a PR specialist, are trapped together in an elevator during a blackout. Over 10 hours, they saw each other's true selves and made impactful connection. But he was married and nothing more happened. One year later, they meet again. So far, it's great. The middle of the book with the issues keeping them apart and the yearning gets a little tiresome. Overall I enjoyed the book, but I would have enjoyed it more if the section was tightened. This was a cute forbidden romance, although I can’t decide if it’s insta love or slow burn. It was a quick read, and fun, but something felt like it was missing, it didn’t grab me quite as much as I hoped it would, and at times I found myself wanting…more.

Pub date: Sept. 11, 2025

What a fun and easy celebrity romance! I am such a sucker for rock star romance stories and this one turned out to be so cute, the perfect pallet cleanser. I was hooked from the very beginning and was entertained the entire read. Between the fun meet-cute, the second-chance(ish) element, the OWD (I have been loving this kind of angst in romances lately, don't judge me), and the highs and lows of falling in love with a famous musician, I really loved this story!

After being stuck in an elevator for 10 hours with famous rock star, Rian Pheonix, Josie figures it’ll be a funny story to tell, not a plot twist with heartache written all over it. By morning, they’ve shared snacks, secrets, and sparked a dangerously real connection. Then the elevator doors open, reality crashes in, and Josie becomes a stranger he’s not supposed to remember. She walks away with a bruised heart and a vow to steer clear of rock stars forever. A year later, Josie’s steady again—until she’s reassigned as Rian’s PR manager. Back in his orbit, she must keep things professional to protect her job—and avoid falling for him all over again.

This book was a perfect pallet cleanser and I now have a new author that I'm excited to read more from!

3.75 ⭐️ *ARC REVIEW* I loved the whole sad rockstar meets shy and bright spirited lady vibe. It was a rom com but there were serious topics involved. I love it when the connection is deep between the two main characters, not just on a physical level. It was cute. 🥰
