The Girl of the Lake

Rate this book
In the depths of an artificial lake lies a forgotten temple. What should have been an archaeological discovery turns into a descent into horror.

A group of researchers—an obsessed scholar, a rational archaeologist, an explorer haunted by his past, and a journalist hungry for truth—dive into the waters that centuries ago buried a forbidden sanctuary. But what they uncover is not just it is a pact sealed in blood, a secret that should never have come to light.

The deformed statues seem to watch. The carved symbols on the walls whisper. And the lake, more than a simple body of water, breathes, observes, and claims what it believes is its own.

When the voices begin calling them by name and the figure of a girl emerges from the mist, they realize their investigation is not a scientific expedition, but a foretold sacrifice.

The Girl of the Lake is a psychological horror thriller that weaves together archaeology, ancestral terror, and the weight of collective secrets. An oppressive, atmospheric story that will captivate readers of Stephen King, Shirley Jackson, and H. P. Lovecraft.

DNF about 50% in. I never felt immersed in the writing and the story seemed repetitive which made it boring.
