Five years ago, he was my first love.

So I ran- pregnant, broken, and swearing I would never trust him again.

Now I’m back in our small town, trying to give my son the childhood I never had.
But at parent–teacher night, my little boy stares up at Ryder and asks the one question that tears everything

“Are you my daddy?”

Now the truth is out.
His family still hates me.
The lies that destroyed us still linger.
But Ryder’s eyes tell me one thing-- he’ll burn down anything to claim us.

But do I risk my son’s safety to admit the Alpha King is his father?
Or do I keep fighting the mate bond that refuses to die and the man who is determined to claim what he lost?

The FMC was awful. (Possible spoilers ahead) She ruined this book for me.

h has always known H since she’s BFF with his sister. h has been away at college for a couple of years. She returns and both h and H get hit with the “fated mates”
H is absolutely happy because he has always felt something for h. They spend 3 days making love. On the 4th day he needs to go take care of alpha stuff. H’s mom and OW are not happy about the fated mates, so they go tell h a whole bunch of lies. 🙄

h doesn’t even give H a chance to explain anything. She immediately rejects him. She takes off. H is devastated.
——-
For 5 years, H has been searching for h. He is almost feral. He’s been celibate this whole time.

h has a 4 year old. She teaches school. There’s an OM there at the school who is a creep. OM is stalking her. She calls H, but OW answers his phone. 🤪 h hangs up.
Then she calls H’s sister. BFF comes to get her and the kid.
(The whole plot about hiding h within the pack was just dumb) The BFF agrees to keep h’s secret about the kid. Wut?

So…..from this point on, h gets worse. She will continue to lie to H about the kid. She makes this poor man believe she was with another man and had a kid with him. The little kid even knows H is his dad, but she will keep lying to the kid. THEN, in the middle of all the lies, she will shag H. H does everything he can to prove he loves her, but she will keep treating him like shite. I wanted to scream
Every new page, I think I hated h more and more.
There was absolutely no reason for her to keep doing the things she was.

H never finds out it’s his kid until the final showdown with OM (who has kidnapped the kid because he wants to experiment on wolves🤨)
h is NOT the one who tells him. There was no grovel on h’s part for keeping the son hidden. NONE. I wouldn’t have blamed H if he took the kid and left h. 🤷‍♀️Nah! He marries her and makes her Luna.

PSA! The perfect MMC does exist and he just so happens to live in the pages of this book with a strangely long and weirdly descriptive name.

Good

This was a great book, interesting from start to finish.

Not only a love story, but also about growing up and realizing that age might say you are an adult but only experiences and time can truly make you an adult.

Lots of drama, angst, romance and steam, ending in a great HEA.

I think I read a different book than everyone else. The inconsistencies in this book are many and make for a very confusing read. The book definitely needs to be edited or at the very least needs better editors. Lastly, the FMC is a horrible, weak, and selfish woman. Like, lady, you mate the dude yet you still refuse to tell him the child is his own flesh and blood. Your child is consistently drawing family pics of you three and you go on and on and on how its breaking your heart to see your little dude sad, yet you can't be bothered to tell the freaking truth. Don't even get me going on how she still blames the MC for everything, even after she is told the truth that he did nothing wrong. She takes no accountability and she sure loves playing the victim. What makes me even more furious is that the MC is taking on all the blame and doing all the groveling when everything bad that happens is due to all of the FMC's crappy life choices. Does she even grovel once? No. Nope. Nada. Ugh. I really can not stand a weak, "its everyone else's fault," and indecisive FMC. She ruins the story more so than the inconsistencies do. 2 stars for entertaining me enough to finish.

this was a super cute story I enjoyed it. the break up was definitely sad when her mates parents manipulated her to leave ..feeling she was unfit to be his mate & luna. I love how obsessed and heartbroken he was & carried the wedding ring around his neck for years..LOVE how he was celibate the entire time..i hate when mmcs aren't celibate..it ruins it for me. especially if its a mate bond. When he finally finds her.. it's such a slow burn...he doesn't realise the child is his ..doesn't help that she doesn't tell him for safety of her child. but he spends everyday with her son & neice takes them out once a week..for i think this went on for like a month or more..? & he is giving her space...instead of fighting for her. .that part bothered me like u finally found ur mate..& ur giving her space? like he only hung out with the kid ..yes she shut him out walked away from him .but I feel like he could of tried much harder...but him spending time with her son even thinking it wasn't his son was super cute....so anyhoo during him giving her space .what confused me was when in his povs ..if the other women...that he was supposed to be engaged to ...wrote him..he would block her..ignore her delete her messages ..he wouldnt even hang out with her or give her the time of day..the parents would have her at the pack house..in his place making meals for him..so he would always sleep in his office or a hotel to avoid the women..so it confused me when the mfc was walking down the st with her son..& seen him next to her at i forget if it was a coffee shop..or something.. & she had her hand on his chest..whispering to him or something.. & im thinking.. i thought he avoided her at all costs..so we didnt even get his pov...to see what happened that day at all..Just days went by as if that part didnt happen.. it was never mentionined again. & another part where they finally hook up..& she says something like i cant believe u weren't with any ow...& he says nope only u..but there was this one time..a girl was all over me..& i thought if im drunk enough maybe ill try & fuck her..But she i think like kissed him & her smell made him want to vomit...so he didnt go through with it..that part ticked me off a bit tbh lmao..just it didnt need to be mentioned it didnt fit in his obsession to wait for his mate..he said he waited for her..but he had intentions cuz he was so depressed to sleep with ow? so in my eyes he would of went through with it...if it wasn't for the mate bond stopping him? I like hearing a mmc saying girls tried but I always shoved them away from me..but what he said irked me...lol..I didnt like it..it kinda ruined the moment the romance mate bond type thing for me..so I forget I ever read that part lol..the rest of the book was really good. I read a lot of these and some can be super cheesy lame..but this one honestly had a really good story line. I recommend this story for anyone who loves rejected mates stories. they might not be that popular but I enjoy reading these in between my other books.

Enjoyed this one. Way better than I expected considering there’s so many books like it.

It did have errors or just weird things that annoyed me though…
A “3yo,” who is advanced and tall for his age in kindergarten 🙄 what’s more believable? A kid who is older (thus taller and more advanced) in kindergarten or a 3yo. Makes absolutely no sense to try to pass Grayson off as 3yo when even at age 4, kids aren’t usually in kindergarten!! If you’re trying to keep Grayson’s father an unknown to even the father, make the lie more believable, please.
Writing that Ryder is the “future alpha” after he already became the alpha. With the whole signing and blood bow thing or whatever.
Mick mentions she knew of the threats “years ago.” Makes absolutely no sense. Mick hadn’t heard about the threats until months ago at most when Jasmine called her for the first time since she disappeared five years ago.
How did this Williams creep hide his scent when the wolves supposedly have such good noses? Especially to enter Jasmine’s homes repeatedly!? It was creepy, but also brought an unreal narrative that didn’t fit into the overall story of wolves who are supposed to be able to smell so well.

The whole rejected and pregnant thing happened because Jasmine was too immature to have a conversation. Why would Jasmine even believe Mira and Ryder’s mom over Ryder. That had more to do with her own self-esteem and self-worth issues than anything else. It was annoying that she kept Ryder from his son over her own insecurities and idiocy. I get it to an extent, yeah it hurts to hear/see, but why not confront Ryder? Why run? And how do you just leave your supposed best friend like that too? I was just so frustrated with Jasmine.

It all ends well. But I wish we had a more future glimpse.

Wow, she just up and left without even letting him explain anything. She just believed the "mean girls" on everything over someone she has known most of her life. Talk about a knee-jerk reaction.
Then, they don't really seem to be interested in achieving anything. He finds out where she was, only to find her gone again, and instead of trying to find her from there, he just stops and wallows for a month. Once she's back, they both need to talk (he's even mentioned it to her), and yet week after week goes by and it just doesn't happen.
Five years have gone by, and did everything just stop? Suddenly he doesn't need to marry Mira that whole time and she disappears, conveniently showing back up when Jasmine does. Too coincidental.

How can she not realize that he never married Mira? You would think that would be something of common knowledge. Since a venue had been booked initially for a month later, then Mira and Ryder would have already been married. If they aren't, that brings up many questions she is just oblivious to and doesn't really seem too interested in, even though it could threaten her child. Plus, she kissed him, thinking that he was actually married.

I wasn't really feeling much emotion from the characters. It all felt like since they were mates, that's why he wanted her. Before that, it just felt like there wasn't anything. I want to feel it with them, not just be told that's how they feel.

Nothing really special about this book other than the total lack of communication and the stupidity.

A great story!

Another great story by Elara Haze & KA Iris. I love everything about this book. The flowing, emotional plot, the multi-dimensional characters – I loved some of the secondary characters dearly and I even loved hating the bad ones. Jasmine and Ryder are fated mates. When they find out, they are both ecstatic. But Jasmine is the maid’s daughter and according to his parents not a fit to become Luna. So, they use lies and manipulation to drive her away. Ryder is devastated, but tries to be a good Alpha to his people. 5 years pass until Jasmine needs to come back. But when she does, she has a 4-year-old secret coming along. Grayson, her sweet, curious and extremely smart for his age, son. He recognizes his father sooner than Ryder does him. Will Ryder be able to forgive Jasmine from running away and keeping his son away too? Will Jasmine realize that she was deceived? And will this broken family be able to become whole again, as fate – and the Moon Goddess – indented to? Many different people try their best to keep them apart, but will they succeed or will true love conquer all? I really loved both Ryder and Jasmine’s determination, protectiveness and fighting spirit. I couldn’t put the book down and devoured it in one sitting. 5 stars

Loved it enough to do a reread

I couldn’t remember if I’d read this from the description. If you are a fan of these type of books and read anywhere near as many as I do, they can blue a bit together, particularly with simarly/exactly the same names. I skimmed around to see if I’d read it, and when I realized which one it was, it had resonated with me enough to warrant a reread.

The son is just so cute, his responses to Ryder from the get go are adorable, cool, fun, sweet, unique.

Solid writing, engaging storytelling, loveable and hatable characters, Angsty, but doesn’t bring the reader down to desolate levels, and the HEA is all the better for the balance of pain and love

Spoiler-ish

My only complaint is that once the main conflict comes to light, there does not seem to be rationale for the female protagonist to continue withholding any further info. The reader is left to wonder why she continues to
Iie with her only explanation being that she can’t tell yet because she needs to wait for everything to be resolved first. Um… no! Maybe she is just avoiding it out of cowardice, I just wish her rationale were a little clearer.

3.5⭐️ - These books are a great palate cleanser for me. They’re easy a bit predictable if your brain is kinda mush. Plus, I just love a fated mate story. Also, a secret child…even more than a secret pregnancy.

This story was better than I expected. Our FMC was actually the one to reject the Alpha because of lies she was told by his mother and his “perfectly arranged” Luna to be. Add in hurt feelings, and refusal to listen, and here we go. Hiding for 5 years before returning to her pack.

The MMC was great. He pretty much went feral and almost lost everything trying to find her. Then when he finally stepped up as Alpha, she returned and he was still good to her, even though she broke his heart and didn’t readily explain herself until like 80% in.

Overall, a good easy read and perfect palate cleanser. I think I’m going to keep this series tucked away to pull out the next one each time I need a little break from other reads.

Ryder cares about Jasmine through the drama

This is book one in the series about the future Alpha Ryder. He accidentally discovers his mate Jasmine at a function with another woman, Mira, on his arm. Ryder is pleased, but Mira and others are shocked by this revelation. Jasmine is the cleaner’s daughter and this upsets Ryder’s parents, the current Alpha and Luna. Ryder is unaware and just happy to have a true mate. Jasmine runs off trying to pretend that the mate bond thing did not happen. Ryder takes off after her because he truly wants Jasmine. This is a cute and humorous, at times, romantic story. The BFF Mickey aka Mick (female) is the best and keeps both Ryder and Jasmine on their toes. There is a happy ending. Read On!

I went into this expecting the MMC to be the one who caused the breakup. Surprisingly, that is not what happened at all. Instead, the separation between them is driven by lies and deception from his own family. Their interference keeps the couple apart for far too long.

There are some minor plot holes, and it feels like parts of the book may have been edited or changed without fully adjusting later scenes. Because of that, certain moments become a little confusing.

That said, I tend to give these kinds of trope heavy stories a bit of grace. The main issue here is the level of miscommunication. It is not just a small part of the story. It is essentially the entire plot.

If you enjoy second chance mate stories with dramatic misunderstandings and family interference, this will likely work for you. Just be prepared for a lot of frustration before the resolution finally arrives.

Idk if I downloaded a wrong version or what but there were many missing scenes, like the confrontation that made her run away, the kiss at the carnival, the rejection, how the fight ended!! I mean the chapter pf the kidnapping ended with the villain just near killing jasmine and boom next chapter she’s in Ryder’s arms and he’s taking them to the hospital !!! and still not telling Ryder that the kid is his even though they are together?? it just felt rushed like the author couldn’t care to finish it off good

Lies

18+, XXX. Adult content, reader discretion advised. Lies where believed. Jasmine believed them and ran. Truth hurts. Ryder knew one truth, she was gone. Eight months after she left, Jasmine met her son Greyson. Five years later, a stalker is hunting Jasmine and Greyson. She packs him up and returns home. For a few months she hides in plain sight. Until Ryder shows up at her work. Then chaos reigns. Can they find their way back with her new stalker and old enemies trying to destroy her?

Honestly, I was reading another book that wasn’t for me and I moodily saw this and devoured it in 24 hrs 😆. Im still in my second chance troupe era and this one DEFINITELY GAVE ME ALLLLLL THE emotions!!! 🥺.

I wanted to gouge out the Alpha mom’s eyes… I wanted to shake Jasmine and yell at her to think clearly…but the best was how Ryder held on to that hope! And really it was all worth it!

Returning Home

After being away from the Pack for almost 5 years she returns to protect her son who is starting to show signs of being an early shifter a just 4 years old.
The job as a school teacher at the Pack school keeps her solvent.
The new Alpha has been away from the Pack for nearly as long searching for her.
Now that they are both in the same town maybe some old misunderstanding can be addressed. Good Adult Read.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this book only because of the male main character. I honestly thought that the female main character was absolutely crazy! Most of their problems stemmed from her, not trusting him. Even when he did show up for them countless times she stubbornly believed what her own had told her. And lied to the very bitter end. And she has the nerve to say we messed up! Lies you messed up. All because you were too immature to ask simple questions.

very pleasantly surprised

Based on the title of the book, I really want expecting to like this book as much as I did but I really liked it! I have learned that with romance books sometimes you have to ignore the title and/or cover and just go with it. The story was well written and it had just enough spice and drama without going feral-ha. I love the fated mates trope so much and it was done well in this book. I’m on to the next one in the series!

needs editing and consistency reading

Feel a little rushed in spots. Could use more character development for sure. Worth a read. Would be much better with professional editing, there were weird parts where things that were previously established were forgotten and side characters just piped in and out oddly.

not good

Dnf. The characters were supposedly in their 20’s and then later 20’s and yet it read like a teenage relationship. The amount of misunderstandings, incorrect assumptions, and immaturity the fmc displayed for someone she supposedly grew up with is not believable and is clearly just plot device to create unnecessary conflict and push the story forward.

not bad!

It was a nice read, I wouldn’t say it was good or bad. Plot was up and down, no real progression. The main leads were very childish even as adults and never really communicated much. But ohhh did they have sex lmao!! I’ll be reading the next book in the series! 🤣🥴🫣

Not bad!

I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. The pacing was well balanced and I loved the chemistry between the MCs. I found the reason the fmc ran was kinda stupid but I still really enjoyed this story. Completely addicting. Both the MCs stayed loyal to each other even though they were apart for so long. I loved that so much.

I absolutely devoured this book. I couldn't stand how the FMC kept the secret from Ryder for stupid reasons, but I also in a sense understood why. The thing that really made this book though was the son Grayson. He was so stinking adorable with his love for dinosaurs that I wanted to keep reading just to see what he would say or do next.

What am I missing here? How is it possible it has this many good reviews? Every character but Mick was dumb. The plot line was absurd. Am I just too old to think this is any good? The characters act like they are in their teens. I got to the point that skimming was my only way to survive this book. Absolutely ridiculous.

Great book with another twisted jealous woman willing to do anything for the man she…thinks is hers! Jasmine is such a ferocious momma that made me want to keep turning pages till the very end! The hell she went through for love….

Suspenseful, Clever Plotting, Unique Characters

In this book we find fresh plotting and unique characters. Devious characters out to rule their world and attempting to change world they deem needs to be corrected. We have strong characters who want to be a family and work very hard to build just that!

very cute

I was hooked from the start. Lots of angst and high emotions carried throughout the story. It wasn’t very spice based, but what spice there was, was really well written. You don’t often see stories where the FMC is the lying liar hah and she took it too far imo lol but it all ended well and a very heartfelt HEA

Alpha King

Very enjoyable read. Loved the characters and the story. The only downside was it drag in the middle of the book. The big question I have is he is a wolf and they have very good sense of smell, so why couldn’t he smell himself when he first met Grayson? That just doesn’t make sense. Definitely recommend this book. Enjoy!
