Rena was born in Santa Barbara, California and spent most of her life in the Ojai Valley. She has always loved writing. When she was a teen, she wrote to over 100 pen pals at one time. It's not surprising that English and typing were her favorite classes in school.
Rena began writing for children in 2003 after visiting Glacier National Park in Montana. A little mountain goat inspired her to write a story about him and her love for writing children's stories began. She now live in Bigfork, Montana, which is only an hour from Glacier National Park where that first story was written.
Rena is married to Rick, her high school sweetheart, and has four children. She's a homeschooling mom -- a full-time job in itself. Her interests include wildlife watching, photography, camping, national parks, kayaking, reading, and music.
"The whole point of romanticizing your life is making your daily moments feel like they belong in your favorite story — not mine, not a stranger’s on Instagram, but yours."
I absolutely loved that the book opened with this quote. It immediately locked me in and had my nose in the book until I finished it. Being a social media influencer you forget to stop and be grateful for the things you do have. You are constantly trying to be the first and you see what everyone else has and where they are going. This allowed me to stop and look around my house and just be thankful. I have more than I could ever think and have to remember that there are other people out there that would love to be where I am today.
Rena, thank you for this book and guideline to help me learn to prioritize certain areas in my life.
