Raina Simone Parker has one rule: love lives on the page, not in her life. After a marriage that gutted her, she poured every longing and unspoken need into a character—Ezra. Soulful. Dangerous with words. The kind of man who looks at a woman like she’s the only thing worth looking at.
He was supposed to be fiction.
One reckless night and something shifts. The universe, tired of watching her play it safe, decides to answer. And suddenly, impossibly, Ezra is standing in her living room. Real. Warm. Looking at her like he already knows every word she wrote about him.
The chemistry is undeniable. The way he sees through every wall she’s built is terrifying. And the pull she feels every time he’s close is the most dangerous thing of all.
Ezra has no interest in being a character. He wants to be her man. The real, heart-on-the-line kind.
Can a woman who stopped believing in love trust the one she conjured from her own broken heart?
A Real Enuff Love is a spicy, soul-stirring romantasy about desire, healing, and what happens when the universe decides you’ve played it safe long enough.
Award-winning author Michelle Davis-Newell was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. As a child, she was shy and withdrawn due to relentless bullying that impacted her self-esteem. This isolation nurtured her creative side, leading her to a love for reading and writing. In 1980, at just ten years old, she submitted a hand-written thirty-page novel to Harlequin Romance, along with a heartfelt letter expressing her dream of becoming an author to lift her family out of poverty. Although she received a rejection letter, Michelle was ecstatic to get a response.
Despite excelling academically, Michelle's home life became tumultuous, and by 21, she was a single mother of three on welfare. Refusing to succumb to her circumstances, she challenged any complacency, eventually achieving economic self-sufficiency. In 2016, she fulfilled a promise to her late mother by returning to school and earning a bachelor’s degree in education.
Michelle's passion for writing never waned. She independently published her first novel, "Ain’t Understandin Mellow?" in 2006, and contributed to the anthology "The Shattered Glass Effect'' in 2007. Her memoir, "Ruby Slippers: Fairy Tales My Mother Told Me, Real Life Truths I Never Told Her," was released in 2013. After a hiatus following the tragic loss of her younger brother in 2018, Michelle is set to release her latest novel, "The Bag Ladies of Ebondale," in fall 2024.
Together with her husband, Michelle founded Scribe-Rite Publishing LLC, continuing her commitment to storytelling and inspiring others through her words.
How can a book be heartbreaking yet so beautiful and breathtaking at the same time? Reading the story of Raina & Ezra touched me like no other story ever has, and I'm surprised by the amount of feeling I had, especially in the latter part of the book. Even now, I'm typing this review looking like a basket case who lost apart of myself but gained so much more at the same time.
I'm 43 and married but it wasn't an easy road, and like Raina, there was a lot of heartache, pain and betrayal at the hands of men that had me to the point of wanting to resign into myself, but at a point when my heart cried out for a relief, God answered and sent me my own "Heart's Echo," and we got married when I was 35. It may not be the perfect love, as described between the characters in this book, but it's an open and willing to learn and grow and evolve type of love, and that's enough for me. This book made me see my husband in a whole new light and appreciate him even more 🥹.
Ezra was LITERALLY the perfect book boyfriend, and I felt his wonder, his joy, his love, and also broke at his sorrow, his loss, and in the end, his selfless resolve of his existence and purpose in Raina's life. He Was Love Personified.
To the author, Ms. Michelle Davis- Newell... THANK YOU for pouring your heart out in such a beautiful way that your story and your characters will forever fill the spaces of my mind and my heart. This book was made for me and all the women who have felt unseen, unloved, and unheard. The universe hears you (GOD HEARS YOU), and your prayers to feel whole and complete in love is not in vain, but first, it begins within you. Be patient, give yourself the grace to feel, and embrace the good and the bad and LOVE YOURSELF 💚.
This novella? A treasure. A tale so divine, Each page like a portal that dances with time. The rhythm, the laughter, the heart in each line— Oh future readers, the pleasure is mine!
I felt every chapter, I saw every scene, From the dialogue’s shimmer to the shadows between. There’s magic, there’s mystery, moments that gleam— A soul-stirring story, not just a dream.
No spoilers I’ll drop (you must take the ride!), But I promise your heart will be beaming with pride. I’m begging for webisodes—yes, make them soon! I’m ready to binge by the light of the moon!
To the curious minds and the book-loving crew, This gem is a gift—go grab you a few! The author’s a force, her pen is a spark— Lighting up pages with vision and heart.
💜💜💜💜💜 A standing ovation! Encore, encore! I’ll be waiting for more… and then some more. 📚🛍✨🥰
What a profoundly thought-provoking and innovative novella! Raina and Ezra are exemplary figures whom I greatly admire. I had been supporting this couple from the outset. This novella engrossed me completely, leaving me eager for further reading. A Real Enuff Love is of a virtually unparalleled authenticity. Kudos! Michelle Newell.
This story was so beautiful and unexpected. I loved seeing the world and Raina through Ezra’s eyes. Those days they spent outside of the apartment were so beautiful and heartwarming. Ezra’s love for Raina was so palpable. This book was an emotional roller coaster and a breath of fresh air.
