Frankie Monroe is chaos wrapped in glitter. With her purple curls, ripped jeans, and a voice that cuts like velvet and steel, she’s on the cusp of her first album—and the world is already watching. Festivals, singles, and EPs have built her a loyal following online and off, and now she’s ready to take the leap from rising star to headliner.

Willa Archer doesn’t do glitter. Sharp-tongued, fiercely independent, and armed with her camera and pen, she’s built her career at Side B magazine by being brutally honest. Two years ago, that honesty nearly shattered Frankie’s confidence—and now she’s been assigned to shadow Frankie for the first seven stops of her debut tour.

What starts as barbed banter and buried grudges soon turns into something far more late-night confessions, stolen glances, and a tension impossible to ignore. Frankie wants revenge, Willa wants control—but the more time they spend together, the more the line between love and hate blurs.

Told with raw emotion, messy vulnerability, and slow-burn intensity, Stay Right Here is a sapphic romance about second chances, found family, and falling for the very person who once broke you apart.

The banter and initial tension were really good, even if part of me wanted ice queen Willa a bit longer. Steele made me invested in the couple from the first page, and the chemistry is really good. I liked how their relationship unfolded, with that attraction tainted with resentment, (too) quickly diluted to attraction alone. The writing style is unique, with short sentences that give a lot of moments a poetic vibe. Few writers give us time with a settled couple, and I appreciated it. Once they get together, the relationship is really strong with a really intense love for each other. Frankie's relationship with her grandmother was so touching. The dementia portrayal was heartbreaking.Nevertheless, the short sentences I mentioned earlier sometimes broke the flow when I was reading. There were some repetitions in sentences or scenes that looked like one another that gave the book some length. Making it a bit shorter might have given it a stronger impact.

Overall, it's a really promising debut, with a book that gives strong and likeable characters, with a good balance between strong feelings and drama. If you are looking for warm and sweet, this book is perfect. I look forward to reading more of Steele.

This was a great debut! And I was so glad I got a chance to read it.
I really enjoyed the story and fell in love with the characters. There was many times where I screamed at my kindle for Frankie and Willa to just get in a room together or to “just kiss already!” But I loved the tension so much and the will they won’t they. This spice was amazing (once they finally got their act together haha) and there was a great amount of it too!
I think Cee did a great job of her first book and I look forward to seeing what else she comes up with in the future!

Thank you Cee for allowing me to ARC read for you, in return for an honest review. Above is my own words and thoughts.

This book is written in third person with 2x POV’s. Singer/Journalist, Forced Proximity, Enemies to Lovers, Age Gap (10 years), Slow Burn. 8x Spicy Scenes

"A breathtaking slow burn full of love, music, and emotion — an absolute must-read!"

What a beautifully written story this was. With all its ups and downs, this book had me completely gripped from start to finish. I loved the inclusion of the song lyrics scattered throughout, especially when Frankie was performing on stage — it added such depth and heart to the story. The love and connection between Willa and Frankie were simply beautiful.

Their relationship was so well crafted — full of emotion, tenderness, and fire. This slow burn had me crying, laughing, and fanning myself more than once! The longing between them was palpable, and when they finally opened their hearts to each other, it was so worth the wait.

The side characters were just as wonderful. Mimi, Frankie’s grandmother who suffers from dementia, was a deeply touching addition to the story — her bond with Frankie was beautiful and heartfelt. I also loved Frankie’s bandmates and the support they showed her throughout the tour. Kara was fantastic — always knowing when to push and when to give space — and Lena, Willa’s best friend, was another highlight. Their friendship was strong and genuine, and it brought even more warmth to the book.

Thank you, Cee, for writing such an amazing story. You had me in tears more than once — from both happiness and heartache. Truly, you’ve created something special, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to review it.

First off, a big thank-you to Cee Steele for sending me an eARC in exchange for my honest thoughts!

Stay Right Here is a slow-burn romance about a reserved journalist and a free-spirited rock star who end up thrown together for a few weeks on tour coverage. Will their connection blossom into something real, or will it just be a passing fling?

We meet Frankie, whose music career is finally taking off. She’s thrilled to get a feature in a big-name magazine… until she finds out the journalist assigned to cover her is Willa—the same sharp-tongued writer who once slammed her in print. Willa, for her part, walks into the job thinking Frankie's still all glitter and no substance, only to realize very quickly she’s been wrong about her.

I loved both of these characters. They’re relatable, layered, and just fun to follow. The romance itself was such a treat—slow, intimate, and full of little moments where the world seemed to fade away and it was just the two of them. Watching them let their guards down and see each other’s “real” selves was beautiful. Their chemistry was there right from the start, but it deepened naturally step by step. This book really nails that mix of enemies-to-lovers and second-chance vibes. By the end, you can totally feel how much happiness they bring to each other.

The one thing that didn’t fully click for me was the miscommunication trope. It’s something I’ve seen a lot, and here it felt like the tension could’ve been handled in a more natural way to make the angst/drama land better.

I also have to shout out the side characters—especially Frankie’s grandma. Their bond felt so genuine, and there were moments that honestly made me tear up. Cee handled the dementia storyline with so much care and respect, and it added real heart to the plot.

I’ll be honest though—there were moments where the writing felt a bit on the heavy side, and I found myself needing a quick breather. Some of the dialogues started to feel a little repetitive toward the later chapters, and once the characters officially got together, the pacing slowed down. I think the story could’ve been even stronger if it had been just a touch shorter.

Even so, Cee Steele’s debut really delivers. The emotion is there, the characters stick with you, and it’s an intense but rewarding ride. I’m already looking forward to seeing what she writes next!

“It felt like presence. Like the parts she used to think she had to hide had been seen—and loved—and now they hummed quietly beneath her skin, stitched together into something stronger. Something softer.”

Ok so you're telling me it's a debut novel? I don't believe you

It's the perfect heart-warming book to read when you're a little down. Frankie and Willa's story brings hope, it shows you that despite your past there will always be someone who will become your home especially when you least expect it 🥹.

I won't lie, I cried several times reading this book and although I had to reread some parts because I could no longer see from the tears, I can honestly say that it was worth it.

It's as comforting as it's spicy 🔥!

Now let's move on to what the book offers:
- Age gap
- slow burn
- forced proximity
- opposites attract
- dislike to lovers
- found family
- contemporary romance
- angst & banter
- pop singer x journalist
- good girl
- strap
- scissoring
- phone sex
- MC with ADHD
and of course Willa becomes her muse!!

Overall it's 4⭐ and 4🔥

Thank you Cee Steele for the ARC!

CW: Dementia, parental abandonment (off page, briefly mentioned)

Debut novel who???
I immediately loved both MCs. I could instantly tell that they had layers that would be uncovered throughout the novel.I was drawn to them both and their chemistry was evident even before they officially met. Of course when they meet in person, the chemistry is obvious, especially to each of the MCs’ people . Everyone could see it, it was funny how fast they all clocked it.

Towards the middle of the book, I found myself wondering where it was going to go. There had been mostly fluff and I wasn’t bored, but just wondering where the author was taking it. Buuut I was not disappointed! The angst definitely came and I didn’t see it coming. It was messy and real. I felt the hurt come off the page. I loved that I hated that feeling. That was most of the angst though and I would say a lot of the book is a mostly fluffy, feel good romance. It was definitely what I needed since the past couple of weeks in America have been tumultuous. With that being said, Cee Steele doesn’t shy away from emotions and tackling hard issues throughout the story.

I could see myself in Willa a lot. Especially with the whole, “I don’t let people close enough to hurt me.” I also loved that she would just write down her thoughts and write to herself about her life.

Overall, Stay Right Here made me laugh and cry. It was just what I needed. Cee Steele brings to life the story of Willa and Frankie with a vulnerability that sparks hope. It makes you believe in that romance novel love! What an amazing debut novel!

📚 ARC Review 📚 Thanks to the author for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review and congrats on your debut novel!

The narrative unfolds through the dual perspectives of Frankie and Willa. Frankie is a rising musician on the brink of stardom, creating incredible music and about to have documentary-style coverage of the first leg of her tour 🎸 But who's the journalist and photographer assigned to the project? None other than Willa Archer - the same Willa who, two years ago, wrote that Frankie was “all aesthetic and no depth.” Ouch 📸

With a shared past and simmering tension between them, this road-trip story (complete with tour buses, meet-and-greets, shows, and after-parties) throws both women into close proximity. What follows is an electric, sexy journey from enemies to lovers ⚡️💞

Frankie finds Willa infuriatingly attractive yet exasperating, caught between wanting to impress her, craving her approval, and pretending not to care. Meanwhile, Willa must confront the fact that she was unfair in her earlier judgement - and that Frankie’s talent and presence on stage are utterly mesmerising 😍

The author builds the chemistry beautifully: lingering glances, teasing exchanges, shared dinners, subtle touches, and lingering tension captured through Willa’s camera lens. When things finally ignite, the passion is intense - a perfect balance of heat and emotional depth, with plenty of spice 🌶️ and chemistry 🔥

I particularly enjoyed how both characters process their emotions through writing, offering us glimpses into their private notebooks ✍️ While the miscommunication trope appears (especially right after moments of intimacy 🙈), it does lead to some heartfelt angst, redemption, and grand gestures of love.

Beyond the romance, I really appreciated the sensitive exploration of dementia and grief - an addition that gives the story further emotional weight ❤️

Overall, if you love celebrity romances, enemies-to-lovers dynamics, second chances, and plenty of spice, this one’s definitely for you 📚

Let me say, if I wasn’t aware that this was a debut novel by Cee, I’d have thought she had multiple books under her belt.

The introduction of our leading ladies was great. Frankie, still hung up on a comment made years ago, refusing to work with Willa, who protects herself from getting hurt by not letting anyone get close.

After they get on the road, there’s a definite tension between Frankie and Willa. Frankie’s band mentions it every chance they get, much to Frankie’s annoyance. As the stops roll on, the closer Frankie and Willa’s orbits become, until they finally give in.

All of the ups and downs are told with grace and care. Every moment between Frankie and Willa is expertly told. Our girls go through some real trying situations, but they come out stronger on the other side.

Guys, you have no idea how good this book truly is. Cee wove an intricate, beautiful narrative full of emotion and nuance. She gives the side characters enough life to add to the story between our leading ladies, and she writes a powerful story of familial bonds as well.

While you read, you’re going to go through so many emotions, but it’s so worth it. The good times, the bad times, even the sad times… Every hill on the emotional rollercoaster is well worth it.

I’m not ashamed to say that I openly cried at multiple points in this book, both times I read it. Cee’s writing hits that hard. The emotion is right in your face, and you won’t be able to stop the tears.

If you like your love stories with a side of angst and a melting pot of incredible side characters, definitely give Stay Right Here a shot. It’s a great read, and you won’t regret picking it up.

Nitpick: the cover is nearly unreadable on my device. Light text on light background is a bad idea.

Frankie Monroe is a rising star, and her manager Kara has arranged for a cover story in a popular music mag. But, the catch is it will be written by a journalist who dissed her hard, Willa Archer.

Willa is offered creative freedom and the photographer job too, so she agrees to do the story.

Second nitpick: there's no in-story reason she should be writing the story. Her editor knows she has a bad relationship with Frankie, which could ruin any story. So, WHY? Never gets explained.

First meeting goes as bad as expected, tho Frankie also admits she's hot. Willa also, reluctantly, realizes she's attracted to Frankie, and that she's a lot better a musician than she was.

Head jumping... pov jumps between characters at times.

The whole band is shipping them, which feels weirdly rushed considering they've only known Willa a week.

They spend a LOT of time pining over each other, then finally go for it. Then (of course) misunderstanding break up.

Frankie's grandmother who's hospitalized deteriorates, and the band calls Willa to support her. Differences resolved.

As it's her first book, it's not bad. Certainly could use a pro edit.

2.5 stars, rounded up to 3

Cee Steele launches her writing career with this slow burn, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, rock concert of yearning.

Sharp with her pen, Willa Archer must face up to her previous judgements and join Frankie Monroe’s tour for 5 weeks whilst Frankie must endure the presence of the journalist who almost destroyed her.

Together, their chemistry sparks. Willa, exposed to Frankie’s magnetism, authenticity and charm, is drawn into her orbit. Frankie accepts their past and pushes through once she realises she doesn’t want to miss out on the enigma that is Willa.

Cee Steele has you frustrated waiting for that first connection, hoping it’s just around the corner and then grasping for the whisper of a kiss. Once the meteor has been identified, prepare for impact. These two are inseparable and you’re happily headed for a HEA….until you’re not. A runaway Frankie and a bereft Willa are forced apart through Frankie’s blind panic and once again the reader is subjected to more frustration at our MC’s stubbornness and lack of logical thinking.

Can they get their heads out of their own posteriors for long enough to realise how incredible they could be together? Read and find out

First of all, Mimi hit me hard. I have a soft sport for grandmas. Every time she was mentioned, I had tears in my eyes.

Willa and Frankie were layered and had well constructed backgrounds. They didn’t feel like they just magically appeared in the world to meet each other. The romantic and sexual tension that builds up for quite some time between them is really good. I liked that it wasn’t a clueless slow burn, they knew they were attracted to each other just chose not to act. That angsty scene, God tier. I love it when the angst punches you in the chest.

I enjoyed every character, even the secondary characters. Frankie’s band were trying to hard to get them to just kiss, can’t blame them, I would have been the same. The family bond between Frankie, her mom, her sister and her grandma, was beautiful. I wish we could have gotten to know Willa’s family and friends too. Where can I find a best friend/manager like Kara? What a perfect human being.

Truly a beautiful, hopeful story that portrays all kinds of love. Thank you to Cee Steel for providing me with an eARC.

Amazing. I can’t believe this is this authors debut!

I’m going to start with the ‘bad’ because it’s not really a bad but it did break me, Mimi, “How did you say goodbye to someone who didn’t remember you anymore? How did you make peace with the fact that you might be more stranger than granddaughter by now?” In specific this statement. My grandma has dementia and I felt that so deep, it made me cry.

The characters are absolutely adorable, I loved how it introduced everyone and their pronouns I thought it was a really nice touch.

The plot was incredible, it was an enemies to lovers which I adore but the kind where they know straight away they want each other which was a nice change.

Overall a really great book, it had me with all the feelings, there was some really funny bits in and then the heartbreaking bits. A really enjoyable read

This was a really great debut novel. It was entertaining. Heartwarming and easy to fall in love with Frankie and Willa.
I loved Frankie’s relationship with Mimi, her grandmother, this relationship resonated with me a lot. Having cared for my granny when she had dementia a lot of this felt familiar. The author is delicate in her descriptions of dementia in a way that shows she has probably experienced the raw pain and loss of someone to this horrible disease.
This is a slow burn romance and is delicious to read. If you like the whole enemies to lovers tropes then this is for you. It’s very sizzly with a lot of spice, to be honest I do think most of the spice was unnecessary and it felt a little too repetitive after a while and the book would have been the better without most of it.
But for a debut novel, this was really impressive and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

Stay Right Here is a wonderful sapphic musician romance read. Frankie is a spunky, witchy girly girl with an edge, one of my favourite kinds of musicians. Willa is an edgy, dominant but sensitive journalist. This is a sort of enemies to lovers trope, but really just a fluffy romantic read. For the readers who like spice, it’s here! Just a bit more toward the end. Family is at the heart of this book and Frankie and Mimi’s relationship made me tear up. It reflects what a lot of families who live with dementia endure. The plot twist is definitely twisty! Overall a really great sapphic romance to read. Thank you for allowing me to be an ARC reader!

Staying power

Frankie and Willa are forced to face their attraction when they work together on tour. A misunderstanding due to old insecurities leads to them separating. This was an interesting enemies to lovers story that had good characters and an engaging storyline. There is just enough drama and more than enough heat to keep you turning the page.

Dialogue was 10/10 and the angst was to die for - Probably could have been 100 pages shorter and the spicy scenes were a little repetitive but I’m a little bitch for a musician
