“He calls me his ruination but he forgot to tell he was mine first.”

BIANCA

A fairytale wedding is every girl’s dream. Isn’t it.
Well not mine.
Seven years ago, I locked my dead heart in a cage after it was shattered into pieces.
It wasn’t a problem until now.
Being the eldest daughter, tradition dictates I must marry first but at twenty five, a happily ever after is the last thing I’m chasing.
So when my little sister drops the bomb she wants to marry, suddenly I have to choose between her future and my freedom.
Until fate collides me with Dash Stern.
The man I lost my virginity to when I was eighteen and heartbroken.
My ex’s older stepbrother.
Oh and my soon to be fake husband.

DASH

A marriage is a nightmare for a man like me.
Make it a fake one…. That’s just inviting disaster with open arms.
Even if it’s to an irresistible woman I secretly desired.
Bianca Chopra.
Gorgeous. Forbidden. My past obsession.
When she propositions me for a sham marriage, I say no with a warning to stay away.
Like a dirty vixen, she raises the stake, reawakening the forbidden feelings and I find myself throwing caution to the wind.
She thinks she’ll walk away unscathed but doesn’t realize she made a deal with a monster, with a secret that will wreck her entire world.

Note: Scandalous games is a steamy fake relationship contemporary romance. It features a morally gray antihero and a sweet yet feisty heroine who happens to be his past obsession. This is book one in the arranged games series. Recommeded for 18+.

if i took a shot every single time he called her a kitten, i’d end up dead after only the first chapter. i don’t know what to say, there’s no a single thing i liked about Bianca and it said a lot. but i’m going to be real here, i continued to read it only because of the good smut, the mouth on Dash? that man was a dream and i understand the hype.

but still sending a big thankie to my absolutely favorite person here, who loved it so much she convinced me to give it a chance, i regret nothing 🤍

Okay, so this was a good book. Or at least up until the last 15%, cause that's when everything went downhill in my opinion.

So the FMC and the MMC engaged in a fake marriage, until it wasn't fake anymore and real feelings were involved. They had both fallen for each other.

But the FMC discovers the truth that the MMC so desperately tries to hide. That he is the one that "made" her Ex cheat on her which led to her losing all faith in men and her heart never healed from that. This is the part that annoys the hel outta me.

I loved the chemistry between these two characters and loved how their relationship developed. So when the MMC invited the FMC to a charity, who could have known that all our dreams would be ruined, like literary. So the MMC kept saying throughout the book that he did something and is the reason to why the FMC and his stepbrothers relationship (the Ex) ended. And it was reveled that the Ex cheated, so it didn't take to much to put two and two together and it didn't take much to figure out that he probably orchestrated the cheating, which he actually did. But here is what that pisses me off. So the MMC orchestrated the cheating by sending a girl to seduce the Ex on a party, he ends up in bed with this girl who he also invited to bed. The FMC walks in on them while he is ramming himself into the girl. The MMC gets blamed for everything, and the only thing he did was send a girl to the Ex, now he didn't put the Ex:s d*ck into the girl, so I don't understand why everyone is so upset with the MMC. Later on the Ex comes running (and drunk) to find out that the FMC and the MMC slept together, which makes him run to his car and later on gets him in a fatal accident which leaves him paralyzed.

When the FMC finds out she explains that the accident itself wasn't the MMCs fault, but she was blaming him for the cheating that caused her heart to shatter. Mind you that this happened 7 years ago, and she is still "ruined" because of her Ex:s cheating. Naaaaah! I just feel like the author just hastly threw this together at the end to give us some drama. In my eyes, I felt like this event just ruined the whole story. It made me severely dislike the FMC, cause I just had to play the devils advocate so I ended up as team MMC. The MMC went after what he wanted, was it a shitty way? YES! But he wasn't the disloyal boyfriend who cheated. Let's not forget when the FMC was almost raped and the MMC saved her, where was the Ex? Probably getting his d*ck wet. So in my opinion, the MMC got so much shit for something that wasn't even technically his fault. This lead to the world knowing about the "fake" marriage between them, that stoped being fake a long time ago... And the FMC asking for divorce, which the MMC granted.

So I'm giving this story 3/5 stars, cause unfortunately those last 15% ruined this story for me. It was predictable and obviously at some point the FMC would know the truth, but I feel like the author could have done it in a better way. I felt like it was unnecessary that the entire world got involved, including the FMCs parents that only gave a f*ck about their reputation and nothing else.

And lastly, I missed an epilogue!!! I wanted to know what happened in the future. How did the two go back to where they were? How did people around them react to it. What happened to the FMCs parents, and mainly sister, and her friends? Did they stay in New Zeeland or move back to India? I have so many questions....!!!!

I would summarize this entire book as two people who have irritating sexual tension and have no idea how to handle it like two grown adults. Listen, I'm all for spicy scenes but the amount of smut was way too much, and unnecessary. It would've been great if we deleted some of those scenes and helped us connect with the characters more, because oh boy let me tell you something:

Dash is awful. He was so unlikeable. The author gave us no reason to root for him and I swear, if I read 'kitten' one more time-
I have to admit I found it absolutely adorable that he went out of his way to get her favorite burger back on the menu (only time I swooned tbh)

There was no reason to drag the secret that much. It became tiring and frankly, I saw it coming from a mile away. I would honestly read a book about Rosa and Nova, but the only character I genuinely liked in this book was Justin (petition for him to have his own book, please).

DNF @ 10%

Since the beginning It felt like I would not like this book but still kept on reading in the hopes that I might like it later.
The first interaction between the main characters had me shut this book.
Apparently the MC is in the middle of having a threesome when the FC looks and recognises him. He is also the man who took her virginity years ago. He was soft with her back then but whilst having this threesome he is very rough. Not only she thinks it but she actually tells the MC.
I mean No No No Nooooo.....

Based from the reviews, this book is giving me the same vibe of Black Ties and White Lies by Kat Singleton.

- Billionaire romance
- Ex's older brother
- Obsessed H
- Marriage of convenience

I also read that she asked him to let her go after she found out what he did, and the next morning he served her a signed divorce papers.

Idk about the other readers, but I want my MMC to always fight for the FMC. Even when she's pushing him away. I want him to maybe give her some space but not really let her go.

If he was so obsessed with her just like the reviews I read, why did he sign the divorce papers? Why is he letting her go then? After serving the documents, he told her that she will always have his heart and she can do whatever she wanted with it. Ehhhh I mean dude, words doesn't mean shit if your actions says otherwise. Maybe there's a good reason and explanation in the book, but I'm still undecided whether to read this or not. Also, not one review has a spoiler! Why though??? 😭

I enjoyed this way more in the beginning and middle more than I did towards the end. At some point it just got super repetitive and just made me lose interest and the FMC got in my nerves one time too many, also feel like this book is so unnecessarily long, I think that’s why it started to feel repetitive to me. I didn’t hate this, the characters had great chemistry and spicy scenes.

571 pages of “kitten”
If I ever hear a man say kitten in real life, not only will I laugh at his ass, but I will also throw up on his face🫸🏼

Sadly there was so much potential for this book but all was lost when Dash decided a pet name was better than just calling her Bianca.

I don't know why some people don't like this book. Sure, it's spicy, but it's much more than that. It's a great, captivating narrative, centered around two people who are meant to be together. It's about the Indian culture and family traditions. Both Dash and Bianca fight their battles, their pasts, personal struggles and a secret.

I loved this book, and I enjoyed the familiar fake marriage trope, presented with a refreshing and unique storyline. I especially enjoyed not reading the usual drama in similar books.

I liked Bianca's character. Her courage in standing up to men, embracing who she is, and pursuing her sexual desires without feeling shame is empowering. Seeing her growth throughout the book as she challenges the traditional values and expectations imposed by her family was particularly gratifying.

Dash is a great guy, a character you'll fall for quickly and easily. He accepts Bianca wholly, for who she is, and respects her boundaries without pressure. He is sweet, loving and caring. Despite his overwhelming affection and love for Bianca, represented as obsession, he grapples with the realization that at first his feelings may surpass her, affecting his feelings and being a major aspect of his character.

“I wasn’t jealous seeing you with him, Bianca. I was in pain.”

“Because all you ever saw was him, while all I ever saw was you. It took seven years and a fake relationship but I finally have you, for however long it lasts.”

His unwavering dedication to Bianca, characterized by his relentless pursuit as he fights for her, chases her and tries to do everything to be with her, is portrayed as a healthy form of obsession. Because he really wants her and loves her and will fight for her. He is willing to fight for their relationship.

“You, my wife, are an obsession I can’t tame. An addiction I can’t quit. A dream I can’t help but chase.”

“You’re right, kitten you don’t just deserve to be loved because you’re the kind of woman who becomes a man’s entire world. The kind where his existence begins and ends with you. The kind where he lays stats and moon beneath your feet just to glimpse your smile.”
“Isn’t that obsession, Dash?”
“Maybe love and obsession are the same. Because with you, my wife, I feel both.”

“You’re falling for me, kitten?”
“I am, Dash. So are you going to catch me?”
“Always.”

“Ever since you crashed into my life with your fierceness and sass, I’ve done everything except what I used to do. Because when I’m around you, no one else exists for me. And when I’m without you, you’re the only one I ache to see.”

“She’s the light at the end of the tunnel that men like me search for their entire lives.”

“When you've lived like that and someone comes along to fill the empty hole for the first time, you just want to hold on to that ray of light. You’re that ray to him, Bianca.”

“Sometimes, two people’s souls click and they are bound forever.

Smutty romance book ✅
Indian lead character who is well endowed, curvy, and loves the color purple ✅
Lots of steamy moments that are a little rough, and unrealistic (girlfriend’s hooha would need a break with the amount and aggressive sex described)✅
Lead male adopting some formulaic qualities (rich, broken, super hot, really tall, controlling) ✅
Good storyline but poorly written with missing words, poor tense choices, etc? - yes
Male lead calling her “kitten”? weird and not cute
Author being strangely weird and ambiguous about time and place? - yes. For some reason they keep talking about “my city” but not naming it.

The author should write about what she knows- add details and find another editor in addition to her friend Lily. The premise of the plot is ignited by a cultural family tradition yet the author seems to shy away from committing to cultural details that make Bianca’s choices make more sense.

Overall a quick entertaining read!

I liked it. They really overdid the ‘kitten’, though everytime he did call her by her name, it felt like she did something wrong. The ending was weird tho. Why give up the company to work as her assistant. I do like some groveling, but I hated this one. Overall the book was fine tho

while the plot and troupes are not something i've never read about before, the fact that this book is 560 pages is downright criminal. that being said, most of the book is your standard "oh i need to get fake married to placate my family YES LET ME ASK THE MAN I HATE TO BE MY HUBBY😍😍😍 WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG oh he betrayed me now i'm sad" (again, its not unique AT ALL). however, there are a few things that i must gripe about-

1. kitten 🤢 sir you're thirty five act your age this wasn't hot

2. little editing mistakes like using past tense when the book is in present tense, having past tense for words that don't exist, sentence structures being incorrect (see point 3. for examples of what i'm on about); all which could be fixed by an editor but hey, if english ain't your first language then all props to you for writing a FIVE HUNDRED + page book. but still, i cannot ignore these simple mistakes that take away from the flow and reading experience.

3. i know the book takes place somewhere in india
[...] him being in my city when his headquarters is in Mumbai.

[...] as I guide her to the entrance of the Taj Hotel where I'm staying.

"I'm thinking Jaipur [...]"

and the author herself is Indian, so wHY are the characters given white ass names with indian last names? i know its not uncommon to do that abroad, but like bffr a bianca chopra or a rosalie kapoor or a nathan singhania in india? its... strange. which contradicts all the old people having typical indian first names.

4. the story itself lacked depth (could be due to the fact that it was unnecessarily dragged for five HUNDRED pages), and i know for a fact that rosalie kapoor is based on rosa diaz from b99 but while rosa is 100% a mf queen, it comes off as icky when i read about rosalie. the way all of them act so childish and spoilt when being 25-35 years old was irritating to read about. also, bianca's sister arya was made only for the purpose of actually having the whole "marriage of convenience" plot cause that girl had lesser screen-time than margot robbie in once upon a time in hollywood.

I absolutely do no understand a single one of those low ratings.
Fuck, I loved every minute of reading this. Yes there's a whole lot of smut but I've read stuff with more so to me it seemed like a good amount. Loved the spice scenes in general anyways, loved the chemistry between Dash and Bianca.
I loved that he stood up for her to her parents, that he was there for her when she needed him. He made her favourite burger place put her favourite burger back on the menu and if that's not love idk what is.
Yes maybe she overreacted a little upon finding out Dash set her up seven years ago to catch her then bf cheating but like he would've cheated even if she didn't catch him and she would've never believed it if someone had just told her. But it turned out good in the end and she forgave Dash so there's that.
And I feel like all I've read are comments saying "I stopped reading when he called her kitten" and I don't understand the issue? I'd love that. Hell, I've read Mob!fanfictions for years where the guy calls his woman kitten and I've never not liked it. But maybe that's just my thing then.

This would have been three stars but the unnecessary separation brought it down to two.

I’m so used to reading books by authors who write in their first language that reading this book written by an author whose first language isn’t English felt weird. No shade to the writer because I’m from India too. It’s just that the actual dialogue between some of the characters seemed relatable but the writing sounded super awkward in my brain. Also, I kept thinking that some of the stuff would not happen IRL in India lol and I couldn’t stop switching off my brain. For example, the heroine being taken to an impromptu trip to Paris was hilarious. As an Indian passport holder, impromptu trips to Europe is unheard of lol.
