Due to the length of the trilogy and my being fortunate enough to read them all at once, this seems more like a full length book to me and I think it best to rate it as such.
Great read. It has got a bit of everything, yet the mix is right enough to make it a stella read.
The love between these two are very credible. It definitely was more of an insta lust in the beginning but as the protagonists grew closer due to various life altering events happening during that time, we see a very functional and real relationship of two dysfunctional people. Both are broken in his or her own way, but together they can weather any storm together. This is a couple that is blatantly honest with each other, not only are they comfortable enough to share their deepest thought and desires, they also share their moments of weakness, pain and happiness. Each stands ready to support, love, protect and comfort each other. They also know to give other space when necessary, and to give each other the freedom to make their own choices, trusting each other enough to be there to offer love and support of whatever decision is made.
Love is never having to say you are sorry, love is also letting the person you love be secure enough to spread their wings and fly high, yet be there to catch them or pick them up when they fall.
Initially, I didn't connect well with this couple in the earlier segments, but the last one totally did its job in making this book for me.
The love scenes are interesting, a bit kinky, all very sexy, and we can see as the relationship progesses for ourselves that it is way more than just physical for these two.
I also love the supporting characters, even the not so nice ones. Even though we do not actually see most of them a lot, they feel very real and multidimensional to me. Each has his or her own way of thinking, might be miscontrued and different from ours, might have been totally wrong to us, but they are human beings and hence not perfect.
The plotlines that has been diddling around all along came to a head in the latter part of the book and both the suspense and twists are so engagingly done that they totally have me hooked. They also help strengthen the bond between the protagonists and it seems a lot more meaningful than the usual H saves the day reason for being there. They help us see the emotional struggle our characters have and how their overcoming these help their relationship along on the emotional level.
All in all, I have great fun reading this. Would prefer this not being in installments with cliffhangers though I do think this is the popular way to sell more books nowadays and some readers actually like reading the same couple over and over, plus author can publish parts of it before the full book is out. I have this quirky thing about reading the same couple's sequel, and that is avoiding them, I hate hea that turns out not to be hea and that totally ruin things for me, subconsciously worrying if things will hit the fan even after their umpteen time's hea. I totally don't mind here as the couple didn't even seem to have a hfn endings in the first two books, so with so many things still up in the air and the books so short, I am happy to tackle them all as 1 full book.
