Liked Assyria more in the first book for sure. I felt like she was trying way too hard to convince people to respect her in the second. She had to have her mate step in to make people listen. Little bit of a power trip. No interest to continue unless it focuses on the other characters.
This monster of a book two took me no time at all to finish, even with a grand total of 752 pages- I loved every word of it! I ate it tf up and wish there were another 700 pages more! I looooved the interludes every dozen or so chapters where we get a glimpse into another pov or a flashback to the way things were before new roles toon charge, before love formed between the two main characters.
It was also incredible to get a glimpse at a fated mate bond between an angel and demon, I expected it after the first quarter of the book expressed the interactions between the pair but goddamn did I still squeal like a kid when it was announced.
I said it before for the first if the series but this book was so incredibly well done- from the love the leads share to the world building to the complicated words that I FINALLY GRASPED! I love every character with my whole heart but I'm still wondering about that vision if Kiira's....... Sacrifice???

Assyria had a strong arc overall — she started out feeling a bit YA and bratty in Book 1, but really came into her own by the end. Rokath was a standout; his transition from hard-edged to deeply loyal and loving felt authentic, and the “hate-to-love” dynamic actually worked thanks to how the mate bond was handled.
The pacing was solid throughout, and while the ending felt a little rushed, it didn’t lose the plot. The side characters didn’t get much spotlight in the finale, but the world felt complete enough that I’m satisfied leaving it here (even though I know there’s more to come in the universe).
A solid, immersive fantasy romance that balances emotion, magic, and growth beautifully.
I really liked it, but got very confused in the end. It became kind of rushed and details got lost in the mix; at least in opinion. I feel like I need to reread the last chapter to fully understand it because the treaty part lost me. If it’s a mate bond between two angels, why would that be cause for peace???
