Avery and Tanner 😍 ahhh this is my favourite book of the series!!

From very early in the book I knew Tanner was going to make it up to the top end of the book boyfriend list and my god did he stay there. 😏

This book is full of lovable characters (bar a couple.. Arlo and Bethany - you welcome to eachother), who have been through their fair share of heart break and who have found themselves on the cloudy side of life.

Tanner and Avery have history, one they both can’t forget and they helped each other in more ways than they realised. When they are reunited over a friend’s Bach Bash weekender it’s clear there’s history, a lot of unfinished business and things that they both needed but never got the chance to say to each other. That weekend was the beginning of getting to know each other again. This was such a fun weekend to read, I loved Avery’s friendship group, they are a solid bunch who want nothing but sunshine and happiness for each other.

However, what’s a trip to Pine Springs without some drama to stir up trouble?! Avery finds herself in the other end of a lot of hate and a potential stalker situation and Tanner is overcome with worry about his shoulder injury and what that means for his future playing Hockey.

Sophie, I adored the previous two books but this is my favourite! It was so well written and as always I love that characters from book 1 and 2 fit into this storyline. It was full of romance alongside some more emotional topics.

Tanner and Avery's relationship was very slow burn and it was great seeing them find their way back to each other. Tanner definitely is the guy who knew what he wanted when it came to women, and he did everything in his power to find his way back into Avery's heart. Avery is a strong-willed character who isn't very trusting of men due to family history. Despite this, when she and Tanner finally get on the same page for what they feel for each other, I loved seeing the happy, soft-girl side of her.

What caused me to struggle the most while reading this book, was the pacing. The beginning started off great, but I felt that it fell flat from me from the 40-60% mark for me. While reading, it seemed like there were three different subplots going on and it definitely caused me to lose focus, which is why it took me so long to get through this book. I wasn't a fan of Avery's family and some of the secondary characters I didn't care for. Arlo seemed great in the beginning, but he ended up being a sleaze ball and Bethany...she just didn't get the hint from Tanner. I didn't really see a purpose for her being in the book except to try to throw a wrench in Tanner and Avery's relationship.

I wish there was more detail into the stalking situation and Gemma's jealousy, but for what's given, it was wrapped up well in the end.

While this book may not have been for me, I do recommend it to readers who enjoy hockey as a subplot, high school friends to lovers, second chance, and romantic suspense.

Thank you to Amazon Publishing UK | Montlake for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

I just finished Edge of Falling and I absolutely loved it! It's got that perfect small-town feel mixed with a really sweet second-chance romance, plus some unexpected twists that kept me hooked.

The story revolves around Tanner, a professional hockey star, and Avery, who've known each other since high school. Their history is so compelling – Avery actually protected Tanner's future back then by taking the blame for something he did, and he's never forgotten it. Fast forward years later, and they're reunited at a friend's wedding. Tanner is clearly smitten and determined to break through Avery's defenses, which have been built up over years of past hurt and trust issues.

I really enjoyed how their relationship unfolds. It's a true slow burn, but it makes so much sense given Avery's reluctance to open up. She's seen a lot of heartbreak in her life and is hesitant to commit, but Tanner is just so persistent and genuinely good. He's a sweetheart, a real mountain of muscle who's also pretty clueless sometimes, which was endearing. Watching him try to win Avery over, even consulting his friends for advice (the "purse scene" was hilarious!), made him incredibly swoon-worthy. Avery herself is a strong character, and it was satisfying to see her tough exterior slowly melt as she realized that loving Tanner wasn't a weakness, but something that truly enriched her life.

Beyond the romance, there's also a really intriguing mystery element. Someone is trying to keep Tanner and Avery apart, and that added a nice layer of suspense that propelled the story forward. I found myself trying to guess who was behind it all, and even though I had an idea, it didn't take away from the enjoyment at all.

This was my first time reading Sophie Hamilton, and I was really impressed. She balances the sweet and spicy elements perfectly, and the dialogue is witty and engaging. Even though it's told in third person, I felt like I was right there, watching their love story unfold. All the characters, not just Tanner and Avery, feel incredibly real and well-developed, which makes the whole world of the book so immersive.

While it's part of an interconnected series, you can definitely read this as a standalone. It made me want to go back and read the earlier books to get more of the friendship dynamics. It's a great choice if you're looking for a heartwarming story with a bit of spice, genuine characters, and a relationship that feels earned and authentic. It definitely put me in the mood for a cozy weekend read!

I fell in love right alongside Tanner and Avery! With small-town charm, a professional hockey star, found family, mystery, swoon-worthy love, and spice, this book has it all.

Tanner and Avery's slow-burn love story starts out a bit slow, but that pacing helps us understand their history dating back to high school. Back then, Avery lied and put herself on the line to protect Tanner's future, expecting nothing in return. Tanner has never forgotten her or the impact of what she did. He's always wondered what might've happened between them had she kept in touch once he left for college, like she promised.

Reunited years later at a friend's wedding, Tanner is determined to break down the walls that a lifetime of trauma has built around Avery's heart. As they find themselves spending time together, they quickly realize that someone is lurking in the background, committed to keeping them apart.

I don't normally gravitate to books written in third-person; however, Sophie Hamilton does it very well! It felt like I was watching them fall in love from the outside in. I especially loved Tanner's unwavering commitment to pursuing Avery. He wasn't deterred by the walls she built, and even while making mistakes along the way, he was willing to do whatever it took to be the one for her. I loved the scenes where he consulted his friends and teammates for advice (the purse scene was my favorite!).

Avery is a strong FMC who isn't interested in falling in love, having seen firsthand from her parents that love and commitment can lead to a lifetime of heartbreak. However, she quickly realizes that loving Tanner doesn't take anything away from her life, but only adds to it.

Without spoiling anything, the mystery element unfolds smoothly and adds forward momentum, making this a quick read.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It felt very real and authentic, and I found myself getting lost in it. I also appreciated the care and honesty when discussing how her mother's heartbreak continues to affect Avery's life. While part of an interconnected series, it functions as a standalone. That said, reading the first two books in the series gives you more insight into the friendship dynamics.

A big thanks to Sophie, NetGalley, and Montlake for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Quick Summary: A return to what should have been romance

My Review: Edge of Falling by Sophie Hamilton is book #3 in the Pine Springs series. It is scheduled for release on 5/15/26.

About the Book: "One reckless lie was all it took to upend Avery Delgado’s teenage life. By saving Tanner Stone...

Tanner isn’t shy about what he wants.

Avery’s walls are high...

... old sparks reignite.

Avery must decide if protecting her heart from Tanner is more painful than finally setting it free."

In My Own Words: An accidental collision of lives in high school changes the course of two hearts that never got the chance to beat together. When a reunion brings them together again, they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. But a threat may keep them apart.

About the Characters: Tanner and Avery had great chemistry, both in the past and in the present. The way he showed up for her was sweet. The way she finally stood up and chose something for herself gave boss energy. Their journey was...yea.

About the Conflict: What interesting conflict points this story presented! I'll sum it up and say that relationships, fidelity, trust, and mental health were where the issues came in hot. I don't want to say much more than that, so as to avoid spoilers.

About the Audiobook: This novel was narrated by Natalie Eaton and Luke Atticus. They made the story memorable and fun. It was an enjoyable listening experience from start to finish.

My Final Say: I found this book to be good realistic fiction. The friend circle, the behind the scenes drama, the concerns related to family, the unexpected challenges affecting life trajectory, the unhealthy patterns, and the dysfunctional choices - it made for an entertaining read.

Other: Readers who enjoy "– small-town Michigan, where there’s community, drama, heat, and heart," will like this novel.

Seeing as how this is book 3 in the series, I was pretty familiar with the author and the style of writing and knew a bit what to expect: a small town romance with some suspense thrown in. And that’s exactly what I got. In this book, we meet Tanner and Avery. Avery works at the bar that we have seen in the other two books of the series. She is also the niece of the waitress at the diner most of the locals frequent. And I believe that we had a mention of Tanner towards the end of the second book. His mother is in the infamous book club that the local women belong to. Tanner and Avery went to high school together. She was the daughter of the mayor at the time and he was the son of a single mother because the dad ran out on them. An incident happens at school and Avery ends up doing something that allowed Tanner to embark on his path of becoming a famous hockey star. But Tanner never forgot about Avery and has spent the 15 years they were apart essentially thinking about her and realizing that none of the women he’s dated could measure up to her. He returns to town for his cousin’s wedding and reconnects with Avery. But because of her parent’s divorce, and the effect it had on her mother, Avery refuses to trust anyone with her heart. So Tanner has his work cut out for him. But he is persistent, and he eventually wins her over. But a mystery stalker appears to be haunting and tormenting Avery and the two have to rally together to figure out what’s going on with her.

I enjoyed this book. I liked how the characters and the situations and the places are familiar from the previous two books. Tanner and Avery had a very sweet story where he has essentially loved her since he first met her in school. It was nice to see her open up bit by bed and eventually give Tanner her heart. But considering the state of her mother, it’s very easy to see how she could want. Nothing to do with love. It was nice to see her get her happily ever after. 3.25 stars.

Edge of Falling by Sophie Hamilton - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Small town charm, a hockey star, second chance romance and a mystery element keeping you on your toes? Yes please!!!! This one had me completely hooked. 🏒✨

Edge of Falling follows Tanner and Avery, who have known each other since high school. Back then Avery put herself on the line to protect Tanner's future, taking the blame for something he did and expecting absolutely nothing in return. He never forgot her. Years later they are reunited at a friend's wedding and Tanner is determined to break through every single wall Avery has built around herself. 💕

And those walls are very much there for a reason. Avery has seen firsthand what love and commitment can do to a person and she wants no part of it. Watching her tough exterior slowly soften as she realised that loving Tanner didn't take anything away from her life but only added to it, that was so satisfying to read. 🥹

Tanner on the other hand is just an absolute sweetheart. A mountain of muscle who is also genuinely clueless sometimes in the most endearing way possible. The purse scene had me laughing out loud. 😂 His persistence and unwavering commitment to winning Avery over, even consulting his friends and teammates for advice, made him incredibly swoon worthy.

The slow burn pacing makes complete sense given everything Avery has been through and it never felt frustrating. The mystery element running alongside the romance, someone is determined to keep these two apart, adds just the right amount of suspense to keep things moving and keep you guessing. 👀

This is my first Sophie Hamilton read and I was really impressed. The writing is witty, the characters feel genuinely real and the romance feels completely earned. It works as a standalone but now I really want to go back and read the earlier books for more of the friendship dynamics. 📚

This is book 3 of the Pine Springs series, following Tanner's story and his childhood best friend Avery.
Firstly, you don't have to read books 1 and 2 to enjoy book 3. It can be read as a standalone, however, I recommend to read them in order to familiarise yourselves with Pine Springs, the other brothers and the side characters.
Thank you to Netgalley for an arc of this book.
Tanner is adorable, he is definitely your next book boyfriend. But Avery is wary of being caught up with him romantically, even though she can't resist him. She has always had a thing for her best friend.
He is the hockey star who has women dropping at his feet, but he only wants her. Their chemistry is off the charts, their bond from their teenage years tight, when she saved him. He has never forgotten the girl he left behind. And she feels the same about him. But, can she allow her emotions and her heart to overrule her head.
Then the threats start against Avery, someone doesn't want them to be together. In steps Tanner as the protective Alpha hero, causing Avery's walls to break down brick by brick.
The intensity of this story had me staring at the wall for a while. It's full of heart wrenching, longing moments that pull on your heart strings. He wants her with every fibre in his body, and trying to convince her he is staying, and will always be there for her, is definitely a slow burn that is worth the wait.
The intrigue and mystery surrounding the threats against Avery is compelling, and hooks you in feeling more and more protective of her yourself.
Sophie Hamilton knows how to write an emotional and angsty romance with a hint of suspense, that at times has you holding your breath.
Tanner is the best. He is everything a woman could dream of.
Kind, patient, gentle and supportive. These two absolutely deserved their chance at happiness.

3/5, but honestly, I wanted to give it a 2/5. Ended up not doing it because I guess part of it is my fault.

It really wasn’t a bad book or anything, just so so so boring. I went into this expecting more of a mystery and suspense because of the blurb, but I got scammed… by 50%, literally NOTHING had happened except for a few mean social media posts. Don’t get me wrong, that isn’t ok. If it happened irl, I’d be telling Avery to get a lawyer. But like. In a book? I was expecting something nefarious. However, I recognize this book wasn’t tagged suspense or mystery so. That’s partly on me.

It wasn’t until the 80% mark that something beyond just text messages and social media stuff started happening, but by then, I was already pretty checked out. And even then, it’s not something I’d label as “wants Avery out of Tanner’s life, and so whatever to make it happen” or “personal, dangerous threats”.

Look, I like romance novels that feature only romance. I’ve literally read SO MANY of them. But this one just. There was nothing going on??? I feel like it really depended on having that mystery element to it, but when it doesn’t even happen until the 80% mark, what’s even the point!?

Combined with the fact that I didn’t particularly care for the MCs (Tanner was fine, but Avery… what did he even see in her) or side characters (I especially hated the mom, and really didn’t like Sam), this book was just so meh for me.

I will say though, the villains (or not even villains… just antagonists)? I despised them, so good on the author for writing some effective villains.

Overall nothing really worked for me. But I recognize disliking the plot was partly my fault, so instead of a 2, this gets a 3.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the ARC.

❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Edge of Falling, is a romantic, and spicy second chance romance, and it was exactly what I needed! As usual, Sophie Hamilton has found the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, with some fun banter inbetween.

The FMC Avery, had been suffering through some massive and understandable trust issues since an incident in her teenaged years. It was satisfying seeing her tough exterior melt away, and Tanner was just the man for the job. Her growth in her relationship with her mother and even her elusive father was done so well too, and there was a couple of scenes that just really hit the spot.

Not to be outdone, the MMC, Tanner, can do no harm! What a sweet, but clueless mountain of muscle. His character development, specifically, as he came to understand that money wasn’t everyone’s priority, was really well done. Following that, when he realised the best way to steal Avery’s heart, his actions felt so natural for his character that they seriously made my heart melt! Very swoon-worthy!

It’s not even just the two main characters that are well developed and authentic, every character in this series so far feels so real and relatable in their own ways.

These characters and the slow burn, second chance romance aside, there was other important plot factors that kept things interesting. In particular, the revealing of some unsavoury characters that contributed to some mystery and a little stalking. I loved this extra component to the plot, and I have got to say that Sophie Hamilton did it well.

I cannot wait to read what Sophie writes for us next, and whatever it is, I’m there for it!
She’s definitely become an auto buy author for me.

Thank you so much to Net Galley and Amazon Publishing UK for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

🎧 Narrated by Natalie Eaton & Luke Atticus

Edge of Falling is a small-town romantic suspense with second-chance romance, buried secrets, and a slow-building mystery running alongside Avery and Tanner’s story. The opening immediately hooked me. The prologue has such an ominous tone that I instantly needed to know what had happened between them.

Avery and Tanner have a complicated history rooted in a life-changing event from their teenage years, and I liked the emotional foundation of their relationship. This is definitely a slower burn romance, and while I didn’t fully feel the chemistry between them at the start, it did improve as the story progressed and their connection became more believable.

The suspense side of the story kept things moving, with anonymous threats and tension building throughout the book. I did guess parts of the mystery before the reveal, but I still enjoyed seeing everything unfold.

For the audiobook, Natalie Eaton was the standout narrator for me. I found her performances easy to follow and she differentiated the characters well. Luke Atticus had a pleasant reading voice for Tanner’s chapters, but I personally struggled at times with the character differentiation, particularly during dialogue-heavy scenes, which occasionally pulled me out of the story. I do think this may have flowed better for me in duet narration format.

Overall, this was an enjoyable romantic suspense with a strong premise, small-town drama, and emotional themes of trust, sacrifice, and second chances. While it didn’t fully keep me hooked the entire time, I still had a good time with it.

I’m going to be honest, this just wasn’t for me!

I went into this expecting more of a romantic suspense, and that definitely didn’t happen. This leans much more toward a lighter, small-town contemporary romance, which isn’t really what I was in the mood for.

Part of the issue is on me because I didn’t realize this is the third book in the Pine Springs series. Because of that, I felt disconnected from the characters and like I was missing context the whole time. I never fully settled into the story.

The pacing was another big struggle. It felt very slow, with not much actually happening for a large portion of the book. By the time things started to pick up, I had already checked out a bit. I kept waiting for tension or stakes to kick in, but it never quite got there for me.

The tone also leaned younger and more upbeat than I personally enjoy. I tend to gravitate toward stories with more emotional depth, tension, or darker elements, and this felt a little too light and flat in comparison. The characters didn’t fully click for me either, which made it harder to stay invested.

That said, I don’t think it’s a bad book. It just wasn’t aligned with my taste. If you enjoy lighter, small-town romances (especially if you’ve read the earlier books in this series), you might have a better experience than I did.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series and was happy to be back in Pine Springs with many of the characters from the previous books. Avery and Tanner have known each other since they were kids although they came from very different backgrounds. Tanner felt that Avery was out of his league and he had so many things to overcome to become a successful hockey player. Avery saved his scholarship and he never forgot that. Avery seemed to have given away her good luck to Tanner that fateful night and her life changed completely.

Now that Tanner is back in town, he wants a relationship with her but she doesn't think she can trust him especially she what happened with her parents. There's also so much going on with cyberbullying and bad things happening to her that she feels a bit overwhelmed. Tanner is also going through a lot regarding being injured and wondering if his career can continue. With all this, Avery slowly begins to realise that she can really depend on him, and he knows in his heart Avery has always been the one. There's betrayal by friends and also great support by others.

I enjoyed this book (not as much as the first two) but still a solid read. Three and half stars and a nice ending to the series. Thanks to Amazon Publishing UK | Montlake at NetGalley for the arc

I received an ARC from NetGalley.

This was a really enjoyable read once I got into it. The writing is easy to follow and makes it a great book to just settle in with. I really liked how the relationship was handled, nothing felt rushed and Sophie Hamilton lets things build naturally which made it feel more real and satisfying.

It did take me a little bit to get invested, though. There are quite a few characters introduced right away, which felt a little overwhelming at first and made it harder for me to fully connect early on (but that could just be me). Once everything started to fall into place, I was definitely hooked.

I also loved the Midwest Michigan setting since I'm from the Midwest myself. It had that cozy, familiar feel that really worked for the story. That said, I did get pulled out of the story here and there by some British phrases that didn’t quite fit the setting. A more regionally consistent edit would make it feel even more immersive.

The ending was satisfying overall, but it did feel a bit rushed compared to how much time it took to get there. I also saw it coming, but it didnt really take away from my enjoyment.

Overall, this is a solid, engaging read with strong character development and a great slowburn romance. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves small-town settings and a relationship that takes its time!

I loved the first two books in the Pine Springs series - More Than Nothing and Every Reason Why - and whilst they were both also five star reads for me, I think Edge Of Falling might be my favourite!

Avery Delgado is attending a joint bachelor/bachelorette party for her friend Savannah with all of their friends. Attending said party is professional hockey player, and Savannah's cousin, Tanner Stone. Tanner and Avery haven't seen each other since they were at school over a decade ago when Avery took the blame for an accident Tanner caused, in order for Tanner to still get his scholarship.

The two are paired together and it becomes clear that Tanner has always had feelings for Avery. Avery, however, is hiding how her life changed for the negative since Tanner left and therefore has a lot of trust issues.

This feels like a real slow burn and whilst we have the romance storyline with our two main characters, I love how Hamilton incorporates a suspenseful plot in there too. I swear I don't think I've wanted to punch a character in the face until Arlo Stebbings came along.

There is such a beautiful development of the characters, not just Avery but her mother too. I could read fifty more books in this series and never tire of them!

“Awe, he just wants to care for her!” …that is what I exclaimed at least twice while reading this book 😅 This book was a cute, cozy small town romance that just hit the spot. It had great banter; not only between the MCs but also the close friend group! There were several times I caught myself smiling and giggling dumbly. Then, there were other times it was like a lightbulb went off in my head when I predicted the direction of the plot. There are a couple twists in the storyline, but overall there are low stakes. The cameos from the previous couples in the series is always a nice touch! Tanner is a good MMC, but Roman 🫦

Tanner was adorable with his golden retriever energy and caring personality. While Avery was witty and independent. I’m a huge hockey fan so of course I loved his profession. However, I also enjoyed that she had her own business and it was a creative one as well! Both characters’ love for their mothers was touching too - and just in time for Mother’s Day 💖

4 stars for me.

Avery Delgado taking one step at the time in her life.Working and taking care of her mother needs she's very sure to never love a man as her mother did. After her father left,Avery is the one one that hold everything and she have no time for romance.Tanner Ston ,a hockey player is back in town,he didn't forget the help he got from Avery or his teen crush on her.Paired at his cousin wedding with Avery it's just a beginning,he wants more from her than just a friendship.
Will Avery risk her heart and let Tanner in?

It was a great small town romance with little bit of mystery.Avery is really guarded and have a lot on her plate,I liked how Tanner didn't give up on her.The romance was cute, and the tension build up keep me on my toes,I could not wait for them to get it together.Little bit of spice, little bit sweet with a dash of mystery this second for me book by this author was a pleasure to read. That being said I had to read book one as now I'm courious about Elenie and Roman.Hopefully the next book is coming soon,I would really love to read Matis story.

This is the third book in the Pine Springs series, and Sophie has written another Pine Springs perfect couple. Although the books can be read as standalones, I highly recommend reading them in order so you can meet each of the characters that appear throughout all three books.

Edge of Falling focuses on Avery and Tanner and their previous friendship in high school. This friendship culminates with Avery taking the fall for something to save Tanner’s reputation and future prospects. I loved how this book brought more than the swoon worthy romance (as they all have), with a mystery sub plot.

Sophie’s work has a quality that pulls you in, and makes you believe you are embedded in the intertwining lives and love that she writes about. There is the perfect amount of spice, cosy romance and characters you absolutely wish you could meet.

Avery’s back story feels real, and Tanner’s yearning is the reason I’ll always keep reading Sophie’s books. Another Pine Springs book I would highly recommend, and I’m truly sad they’re all finished. Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake and Amazon Publishing for the ARC.

Thank you to @NetGalley & Amazon Publishing UK for the ARC.

I picked up Edge of Falling by Sophie Hamilton because the of tropes—second chance, forced proximity and hockey romance. They really appealed to me and it sounded like a great fit.

After reading about 40%, I decided to step away as it ultimately wasn’t the right book for me. This may be because I came into the series at book three without having read the previous books and I found myself feeling a bit disconnected from the story and characters as a result.

The writing itself is solid and easy to follow, but I personally struggled to fully connect with the characters and their journey. I think readers who are already invested in the series or who enjoy interconnected stories may have a much better experience.

This is entirely a matter of personal preference and I’m sure many readers will enjoy it more than I did. I appreciate the opportunity to read an early copy and would be open to trying other books by this author in the future.

This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed the characters and the story. I will definitely be reading the other two books in this series.
Tanner and Avery have known each other for a long time but have not seen each other since high school.
He went off to play hockey and she stayed in their home town. A friend’s pre wedding events puts them back in each other’s lives and stirs up old feelings unusually more from Tanner than Avery. He is so sweet and sexy and I don’t know how she doesn’t just want to go all in. She is relationship averse so it takes a lot of convincing from Tanner to get her to agree to anything more than hooking up.
Their journey to an HEA is a sweet one but it is not without problems when Avery finds herself being stalked and Tanner is getting unwanted advances from someone from his past. I guessed who the stalker was but I am usually good at that so it did not take away from the story for me.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing both the ARC and ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Regrettably, my first experience with this author didn’t quite land as I’d hoped. While the premise had the potential for incredible emotional depth, the execution fell short for me. I struggled to connect with the characters, and the slow pacing made it difficult to stay engaged with the plot.

The story relies heavily on a miscommunication trope, which is a personal pet peeve of mine, especially when paired with a third-person narrative that felt a bit detached.

As for the audiobook - it didn't improve the experience. The male narrator’s performance didn't align with the image I had of the main character, making it even harder to immerse myself in the story. While this one wasn’t for me, I appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback before the release date.

I was so happy to be back in the world of Pine Springs!!! I read book 1 in the Pine Springs series last year and I loved it so much, Sophie Hamilton is an instant pick up author for me. In this book we follow Avery and Tanner and I just loved them both. I saw a lot of myself in Avery and understood why she was so stubborn, but at the same time I’m here for the love story so I was also like girl just go with it 😂. Tanner is the definition of a man who says ‘I know you can do it on your own, but let me help’ and don’t we all just need more of that in our lives? Loved all the characters and the plot twist at the end (though I did see it coming haha). I think maybe the ‘secret’ aspect felt like more of a big deal in the blurb than through the actual book, we dealt with it quite quickly, but overall a wonderful angsty small town romance from Sophie Hamilton 🩷

Just finished listening and I was a little sad it was over. Small town, some intrigue, friends to romance, good friends, family, learning to stand up for oneself and more. This is the third in the Pine Springs series, but can be read as a stand alone. Avery has not had things easy. It seems that for every step forward, she gets pushed two steps back. After her truly pathetic narcissist of a father walked away from them, she winds up taking care of her emotionally devastated mother. When Tanner, a pro hockey player is traded to a local team, he is hoping for more than the friendship they had as kids. Avery is determined to protect her heart and not get involved, but things change in the best way. The story has some highs, lows, growth, and humor. a bit of spice and more that leads to a wonderful wrap up that has me hoping for a fourth in the series.

This book had me hooked from the very start! We start with the mystery of Tanner and Avery's high school past and what drove them apart when they were teenagers. I loved the Bach Bash games, it was an excellent way to get Tanner and Avery talking again. I adore Tanner and his love for Avery, it started in high school and it's very clear his feelings never went away, and I loved watching him knock down all of Avery's walls to let him in again. The mystery of the 3rd act was very intriguing and kept me guessing who was after Avery and why. I had several guesses and finally landed on the right one, but I zero clue on the depth of they betrayal.

Natalie Eaton and Luke Atticus narrate this book and they did a good job bringing these characters to life.

Thank you, Brilliance Publishing and Amazon Publishing, for an advanced copy of this audiobook and eBook. I loved this immersive read!

4.5 stars!

This was a really good book. Very well-written, and i really loved the two main characters in this book! In the beginning i struggled with how many character names i read, and who dated who, but that is the only thing putting this book down from 5 stars. I enjoyed the setting of the beginning of the book. The bachelor/bachelorette weekend.

The unspoken love and gratitude between the main characters, was really touching to read about. I read this book in two days. I just really loved reading about their feelings for each other. Sometimes, reading about any sort of miscommunication is really annoying. But in this book, i loved that we got to know each of the main characters well before we read about them as a couple.

By far the best one in the series, and i loved every second! Well done ❤ and also, thank you for the opportunity to read this book in advance of the publish date!

Thank you to Sophie Hamilton and Montlake for the ARC, I received an advance copy of the book and am leaving an honest review.

I picked this book up from the tropes and seemed like this book would be perfect for me. After reading approximately 20%, I’ve decided to step away from this one as it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. This could be due to me coming into the book in the middle of a series, as this is book 3 and I haven't read any of the other previous books. I have never read this author and while the writing was well done, I just couldn't connect with the story or the characters.

This is entirely a matter of personal reading preference, and I’m sure many readers will connect with it more than I did. I appreciate the opportunity to read it early and hope to read something else by this author in the future.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for sharing this ARC read.

This book is a lovely mix of cozy, slow burn, small town, second chance, sports romance.
Lots of mini tropes to catch different audiences 😊

Both Tanner and Avery are very likeable characters.
They have history, and the details of this are shared early on, hence throwing us straight into the mist of their rekindling.

Avery has trust issues, and her family background has had a massive influence on her life.
Tanner has been grateful to Avery most of his life, although he never made a move on her until now ❤️

The book is well written and it probably deserves more stars than 3, but for whatever reason I just couldn’t get into it fully.
It is very much a “is not you is me” kind of situation.
The book has nothing not to like, I just didn’t connect to it as much as I hoped

While I still enjoyed the return to Pine Springs, each installment has enthralled me a bit less progressively. The bar was set high with MTN in terms of depth and character development, and ERW had some fun secondary characters and good friction based banter between the MCs. Edge of Falling seemed to pull us fully from the small town dynamic which was so enticing previously and dropped into the hockey star high life and exploration of a fulfilled crush from childhood. The “bad” characters were 1 dimensional and obvious which took any punch out of the reveals. Also, may be nitpicky but the British colloquialisms that made it through editing threw me off every time. I did verify they were in the final edit too. Not sure if I will continue on with the series or not, but I am always up for being proven wrong.

Thank you Montlake for providing this ebook for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

We all love a small town romance, and this one was really cute.

The story does start a bit slow, but as you read, you start to appreciate it more. Tanner is a popular NHL player, while Avery feels like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. They are very different, which makes their story more interesting. When Tanner comes back to their small town and finally decides to act on the feelings he’s had for years, it’s honestly adorable.

The friendship group adds a lot to the story. Their banter is fun, witty, and a bit competitive, which makes the small town setting feel more real.

There is a mix of drama, betrayal, love, and humour that keeps things engaging.

Overall, a simple but emotional slow burn romance that is worth reading.

Absolutely incredible. Romantic. Swoony. Emotional. Real. Sophie completely knocked this out of the park. This is my favourite of the series. I felt so connected with the characters, I saw a lot of myself in them, especially Avery. I adored the side characters, Bel is hilarious and adorable. Seeing cameos from the other two books is always so fun, I love the interactions and how the stories connect. The yearning from Tanner is *chefs kiss* and he is now my newest book boyfriend, I just loved his attentiveness towards Avery. And throughout the whole series, I really enjoy that there's more than just focus on the romance, there's always a mystery subplot that's just as intriguing.

Highly, highly recommend!!
