There is plenty going on in this one. We have the bad guy (Ionescu) bringing in a bad assassin. The associated murder starts off the book. There is a bit of past-to-present format in the beginning that settles down after the first few chapters. We have the team working on what is going on with Myrtle - and that takes up chunks of the majority of the book. There are multiple visits to the Valley with the moms and with small groups. Overall, there are some previous questions answered but plenty new questions are generated. The family histories of multiple groups make it a little confusing but there are "let's make it a bit simpler" sections that help quite a bit. There are plenty of changes (both good and bad) for all of the primary players on the team. An addition to the team is unexpected and may cause future issues. A few things are set up for future books mostly regarding why the bad guy is after Jinx and family and additional impacts related. I do plan to continue with the series.
This was good. And mostly entertaining. I only knocked a star off because the more the story goes on the more I go back and forth with myself if I like Jinx or not. She also seems cranky a lot of the time for no good reason. Then there’s Glory Green, I thought her whole back story was cheesy AF! And how she ended up indebted to Chesterfield, I’m sorry but what.. very cheesy, especially the Elvis part. No offense to Elvis either. But otherwise I thought it was good and entertaining to read. It reminds me of Charmed.
There were a few typos but other than that it was very enjoyable to read. I thought that the storyline flowed and the characters are well formed and easy to like. However don't take my word for it grab a copy and read it yourself.
