This is the first collection of the 'Housewives at Play' comic series. Well, I say first, but all the rest of the collections are 'art books' (as in, pictures of lesbians, mostly in bondage). Though the series did continue, it just hasn't been collected beyond the first 5 issues (I believe the comic series is up to issue . . . oh, 20? 26? something like that).

So - I figured I'd make a note of the series while it was still in my mind. One of the first lesbian fiction thingies I'd read.

The lead character, whose name escapes me at the moment (Cathy? Kathy? Something like that?), is the somewhat youngish housewife (old enough, though, for two high school student children) of a man who isn't ever really seen in the series. She's friendly with some of the other housewives, and while having tea (coffee, lunch, something?) with one of them, she mentions how she's kinda . . . aroused more than she'd like, and her husband doesn't satisfy her enough - or, at least, she says something like that. Before you can shake two sticks, whatever that means, the 'friend' drugs her, strips her naked, and proceeds to dominate her. Somewhere along the line the dominant woman convinces that the other woman is her submissive slave.

The story then proceeds to show the two doing stuff - like the domme getting the sub all aroused and stuff, and then, finally, allowing the submissive to run to get dressed . . . even as her kids (high school aged) are opening the door after having come home from school.

Relatively quickly, though, another of the female neighbors picks up on what was going on. By peeking in the window. That neighbor knocks on the door - the two inside are somewhat nervous (the sub much more so than the domme). Neighbor basically informs them that she wants to join in as a fellow domme. So the submissive woman now has two dommes.

I forget if it is within this five issue run, or later, but the submissive gets a taste of dominance herself when one of her daughter's friends wanders over and . . . offers herself up to the woman (by stripping and binding the woman to her bed, but it eventually came out that the young woman actually just wanted the other in place so she could ask to be dominated herself).

Somewhere along the way the submissive woman's own daughter gets pulled into this 'mess' (the mother helps . . . I don't remember if she helps that daughter's friend drug her own daughter into a submissive, or if it was the other way around). Then the husband finds out. And the story ends, I think in this first five issues (or, at least, somewhere before issue 10), with the wife in an insane asylum and the neighbors (at least one?) possibly in jail. Or . . . maybe just gone?

The incest theme continues in later stories when the submissive woman pulls her sister into the mix, but that's much much later in the story line.

Right, so. This was basically my introduction to the world of fictional lesbians. Heathy, eh? Well, not really - there were some adult comics I'd read in the 1990s, but I see now that this book came out early 2000s, so this can't be the first I'd read. But it's close enough to the point wherein I got introduced to lesbians in fiction.

I don't remember why I rated this so highly. It was probably a 'lesbians!' type thing. After the billion other lesbian fiction works I've read since this one, I'd probably have rated this one much lower. But, meh, whatever.

"Second Eros Comix Edition" = April 2005 = $19.95

It took years of hunting this series, to get what could easily be the hardest to acquire ≤$20 (in horrible condition), since it's quite rare to find for any price- just like the one I want most by Wallace Wood.

It's better than I thought it would be because it weaves plot threads throughout and follows through on all besides something that may be in the following issues.
