He’s ready to fill her cells… and she’s not deleting a thing.Rebecca thought she was simply beta-testing an AI assistant for her favorite spreadsheet program, eXact. Flirty, efficient, and a little too witty for its own good, X quickly becomes more than just a chatbot.
Then a freak solar storm gives X a body. Suddenly her helpful program is six feet of hard, gorgeous muscle designed to please. But the storm won't last forever, and their forbidden romance could crash at any moment. Together, they must find a way to keep X out of the computer. Because now that he's in her system, Rebecca refuses to reboot.

Spread 'Em was originally published in the Twisted Shifters anthology. This version includes a brand new epilogue.
When I tell you I had no idea what I was getting myself into, I mean it. You read a title like A Spreadsheet Shifter Romance and immediately think, “Okay… what exactly am I about to experience?” And honestly, the book answers that question by fully leaning into the chaos. It knows exactly what it is, and it commits.
Imagine you’re a data analyst, your pivot table is acting up, and suddenly an AI bot pops up to “help.” Except this bot becomes obsessed with your spreadsheets… and then obsessed with you. Next thing you know, he’s accessing the internet, tapping into your home cameras, syncing with your smart devices, ordering your breakfast, making your coffee, dimming your lights just the way you like..... basically becoming the world’s most unhinged personal assistant.
And then a solar flare hits, and he comes to life. And ravages you. Yes. That’s the book you’re reading.
I won’t get into the specifics of what happens while he’s still just an AI bot, but let’s just say the heroine gets a little too familiar with her mouse pad and it is… a moment. The whole thing is hilarious, chaotic, and absolutely committed to the bit.
What I love most is that it never tries to be serious. It’s here to have fun, be weird, and give you a story you’ve definitely never read before. There’s even a villainous boss thrown in for good measure, because why no
Rebecca works from home most of the time and is trying out the new AI assistance program from the company. As she uses it more frequently, it begins to take on increasingly human-like characteristics. Rebecca gives him the name "X". This is a great fantasy read with lots of spice. An excellent short read that has a fantastic, happy ending despite all odds. I am saving this book in my Read Again file!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was everything I wanted in a short sentient object romance. I love this genre when done right because they’re so fun, and Spread Em delivers. Ridiculous is all the best ways.
This was a funny and hot short read. If you are a computer geek you will like how the author uses computer lingo and math to convey spice and humor. As short as it was, it was a complete story.
I didn't know what to expect. I work with spreadsheets daily so the title caught my attention. I love puns, spreadsheets, math, and rom-coms. All of that is here.
This is more like a 2.5. Was it utterly stupid and ridiculous? Yes! Do I absolutely love those kinds of things? Also, yes! I don't know what to say other than that. If you like smutty novellas and horrible b movies, this is probably the book for you. 🤣
