Some monsters hunt in the cold. Others ARE the cold.
When a wendigo's savage attacks rock the Canadian wilderness, Wyatt and Chloe face their most dangerous mission yet, plunging into a frozen hellscape where every shadow could hide a monster.
But this is no ordinary hunt. Behind the wendigo’s bloody trail lurks an old foe, turning Wyatt and Chloe into prey caught between supernatural horrors and human extremists.
As bodies pile up, Wyatt must embrace the dark magic he fears—or lose everything he loves. In a winter-locked wilderness, Wyatt and Chloe's growing attraction may be their greatest strength—or their fatal weakness.
Where ancient evil stirs, even hunters can become the hunted.
Winter’s Rage is the fifth installment in the Supernatural Activities Division series. Dive into a world where cosmic horrors clash with modern magic—and even predators fear the cold night.
A former soldier, William Stacey served his country for more than thirty years, including multiple combat tours in Bosnia and Afghanistan. William loves exercise and all things martial and is a black belt in karate.
In Winter’s Rage, Chloe and Wyatt find themselves thrown into the frozen wilds of Canada investigate a string of murders occurring on both sides of the border. The evidence points to a vicious creature that suddenly attacks humans and animals — something that feels as if it crawled straight out of a nightmare. This time, they’re not alone: a Canadian government team and a few reinforcements from the Division join the mission, because now that Wyatt is officially a mage, extra muscle is more than welcome.
But the threat doesn’t end with the monster. An old enemy resurfaces, pulling strings from the shadows and manipulating a group of heavily armed local extremists who are anything but friendly. The result? The Division’s hunters quickly find themselves becoming the hunted, and that’s never a great day at the office.
I have to admit it: I can’t get enough of this series. Adventure is guaranteed, the action never lets up, and Stacey always manages to weave a folklore creature into the plot in a way that feels seamless. Both returning and new characters remain engaging and well defined; the dialogue is lively, believable, and often so fast paced that you forget you promised yourself “just one more chapter.”
There’s no shortage of twists—some sudden, others cleverly placed—that make the reading experience even more gripping. Between magic, horror, military tactics, and a slowly evolving love story (just enough to add flavor without tipping the compass toward full romance), this novel is a tight blend of atmosphere and momentum that keeps you hooked until the final page.
A compelling read, rich in tension and supernatural imagination: highly recommended for anyone who enjoys stories that mix action, mystery, and a lethal touch of folklore.
Wow, I’ve said it before, but here goes, I just couldn’t put this book down. In this book, Chloe and Wyatt will end up in Canada, in the dead of winter, searching for a monster savagely attacking humans and animals for no apparent reason. A member of the Canadian government’s supernatural investigation team will help them identify this new horror as a wendigo. But that is not the only creature hunting the American team and their allies, an old enemy is using the deadly creature, and a group of local, very well armed, extremist militia to secure an ancient Atlantean relic. I can’t get enough of these books and the characters that this author has created. These characters, both old and new, are always fascinating with very well portrayed personalities and the engaging fast-paced dialog kept me engrossed from the first page to the last. The unexpected and sometimes surprising twists and tuns in the plot left me gasping. Action-packed read with magic, horror, and in this book, a developing romance, made it impossible to put this book down. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC received from the author.
