In the early hours of an icy Montana morning, the recently widowed Rose Gray wraps her baby up tight in a blanket, and escapes from the home that now belongs to her greedy and powerful in-laws.
She travels to Come-By-Chance to meet young fur-trapper Henry Miller, who has agreed to marry her if she will come - but Henry knows nothing of Rose's baby, or even her seven-year marriage.
Can Rose expect such a young man to accept not just herself, but her baby daughter as well?
Might Rose and Henry find love amidst all the troubles that threaten to tear them apart?
And what is Rose's secret - a secret so terrible she can see no other future than to live with the shame of it, each and every day for the rest of her life?
In this much-loved series strong women risk everything to rise above their desperate circumstances, find true love, and wed real men who'll treat them right.

I enjoyed these lighthearted books in this series of "Mail Order Brides". One reason I have been enjoying them is they are "G" rated with no hot and steamy bedroom scenes.
This was just a short novella of about 112 pages, so I was able to read it in a day. I personally like the shorter novels sometimes because there is not a lot of unnecessary filler, that sometimes makes the story drag on and on. I found this just a nice flowing storyline. I enjoyed it enough to award it 4 "Rose" stars. This book is a part of my Kindle library.
I love this series and the way the author keeps it fresh each time. This, the fifth book in the series, still offered something new to the reader. All the books stand alone, but I would read them in order, as it is just so fun and fulfilling to witness the town of Come-by-Chance grow and change. They aren't epics by any means, but they are good stories that touch the heart. I will continue to read this series.
So choose a 3 star rating due to the plot drifting and lack of depth. I enjoyed the Come by Chance charters as the lives move along, however, with the introduction of the new bride things send downhill If you are reading the series please enjoy the book knowing it's not as funny and the story is weak.
I think these books get better with each new bride. While they can be read as a stand alone book, the story of the town continues. Really enjoy these clean western romance books and way the author brings all the elements together. I can't put them down and can't wait for the next one. Enjoyed this book very much.
I did not expect to enjoy this feel good series as much as I have been. I'm enjoying all of the characters and look forward to the rest of them getting hitched and building a strong community. The villains will get what they have coming to them soon enough or I'll be mighty surprised.
The love story of Rose and Henry. After the death of her husband, Rose was on the run from his parents. They had taking over the store they own and was trying to take her children. Rose ran to Come By Chance to be mail order bride. Will she find happiness?
Rose comes to town with a secret, that if known would keep Henry or anyone from marrying her. Henry and Rose marry. Then comes the comedy of errors. Before long, Rose tells her secret. Henry has a strong reaction. This book was ok. A good quick read.
This is book 5 and introdces a new character. Rose has a secret which when revealed and resoved shows just how optomistic these books are. A nice add on to the series and development of the community.
Once Rose tells the truth she finds a new love plus a family to enjoy.
Women face many challenges especially when relocating to another town. Difficult choices seem prudent at the time yet love and trust will yield fruitful hopes and dreams. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read. Will Slim Jim show up again in Come By Chance? I'll find out by continuing the saga in the next two stories.
