A twisty, tension-packed and heart-stopping psychological thriller from bestselling author Teri Terry Someone knows about her past. Someone wants her to pay.
Lou has spent her life supporting her husband and their family. But everything implodes when she catches him in bed with another woman. Heartbroken and betrayed, Lou walks away, only to find herself the target of a sinister campaign. Threatening notes arrive. Her car is vandalised.
It seems someone watching her every move.
Lou suspects Freja, the woman she found in bed with her husband. But as she digs into Freja’s past, disturbing truths about her own history begin to surface. And as the threats begin to escalate, putting Lou’s own family at risk, Lou finally realises the danger isn’t just coming from the outside.
It’s been inside Lou’s story all along.
This fast-paced and relentlessly twisty psychological thriller is absolutely perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, KL Slater, TM Logan and Lisa Jewell.
Teri has lived in France, Canada, Australia and England at more addresses than she can count, acquiring three degrees, a selection of passports and a silly name along the way. Past careers have included scientist, lawyer, optometrist, and, in England, various jobs in schools, libraries and an audiobook charity. The footpaths and canal ways of the Buckinghamshire Chilterns where she now lives inspired much of the setting of Slated. She hates broccoli, likes cats, and has finally worked out what she wants to do when she grows up.

The review I wrote for the last book I read by this author (“The Step Daughter’s Lie”) started with the words “holy crap”, and that’s exactly how I feel after reading “The Stalker”. They are also getting the same rating. This is one devious book, filled with deception, suspense, heartbreak and several shocks. The story opens with Lou leaving a coffee shop and finding a note on her car, telling her to go home. Now. When she does, she walks in on her husband having sex with another woman. Then things REALLY get crazy…
To back up a bit, Lou is a former tennis pro who gave up the game because of a crazy stalker. She’s now married to a man named Philip, and they have three children: Flick, and their twins, Jessie and James (yes, for real). With their children all out of the home now, Lou doesn’t hesitate leaving her husband and moving in with her best friend, Iona. That doesn’t stop whoever is leaving her notes, though. It seems like everywhere she goes, she ends up with some kind of threatening or alarming letter under her windshield wipers. Her thoughts immediately turn to Freja, the woman who was in their marital bed with her husband.
Lou didn’t know her name at first, but she soon starts doing some stalking of her own. Her husband’s mistress is a stunning 20-something blonde who works at a cosmetics counter. Why does she want Philip? He’s a good-looking middle-aged man who makes a decent salary as a lawyer, but it’s not like they are rich. His children are only a few years younger than Freja, and he’s a new grandfather. What is this woman doing with her husband, and why would he risk his family for her?
The story is told from the points of view of Lou (both in the past and present), Freja, and one of the twins. The book is obviously about Lou both having a stalker, and stalking Freja, but there is a lot of back story that goes into it. Despite having several facets and not being a short novel, this was a page turner that I didn’t mean to finish in one sitting until it happened - what a fantastic and suspenseful thriller! 4.5 stars, rounded up.
(Thank you to Boldwood Books, Teri Terry and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on October 6, 2025.)
Lou gets a message on her car windscreen telling her to go home, despite having a previous engagement she travels home only to discover her husband of 23 years in bed with another woman. Leaving him and staying with a friend she believes the separation will be a permanent one. However when more random notes appear she decides to try and catch the culprit out. Is it the woman Phillip's been sleeping with or has her previous stalker come back for more torment.? This was a gripping very tense fast paced novel with lots of red herrings. My mind was changing constantly as to who I believed the stalker was and I still got it wrong. A great read. Short chapters kept me interested until I'd finished the book.
I received a free copy of, The Stalker, by Teri Terry, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Lou's life was fine until she caught her husband cheating on her. What a wild read. I did not care for any of the characters.
I couldn’t imagine having a stalker.. Moving on with my life & then the stalker returning decades later!
Phillip was definitely playing with fire & I was waiting for him to get burned! I definitely enjoyed the alternating POVs in this story, as well as the alternating timeline with “Lou” and “Lucy”.. At first I was like wait is this the same person lol, then I realized it was differentiating between young Lucy and present day! The multiple points of view was a nice touch. Hearing the story from Lou, Freja & Jessie brought a good balance between all the characters, as each of them have completely different perspectives.
Freja brought a sinister undertone that kept the suspense building. This one definitely kept me on my toes as I tried to guess everyone’s motives & figure out who Lou’s stalker was. Overall I enjoyed this domestic thriller & would recommend! Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
The Stalker By: Teri Terry Pub Date: October 6, 2025 Publisher: Boldwood Books
This was a first by Terry for me, and I will be looking for more. With the title you know this one will be twisty and crazy. Stalkers are bad, and in this instance the same is true.
When someone has what you want, your life will be turned upside down.
Threatening notes, a possible affair, the past and more add to this thriller that kept me turning the pages.
Y’all… if paranoia had a pulse, it’d sound like this book. 👀 From the first note—“If I were you, I’d go home now”—I was hooked. Heart racing, brain screaming don’t do it, Lou! But she does… and what she finds? A gut-punch betrayal. 💔
Creepy notes, vandalism, that skin-prickling someone’s watching me vibe—Teri Terry nails it. Razor-sharp, atmospheric, and relentless. Lou’s messy, real, and just unhinged enough to doubt everything.
If you crave psychological thrillers that crawl under your skin and stay there—this one’s for you.
Thank you to Boldwood Books for providing this review copy via #NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review. #TheStalker
The Stalker is one of those reads that will definitely have you looking over your shoulder. Tricky subject matter. Lou finds a note on her car windscreen, urging her to go home. She does…and discovers her husband having sex with his younger mistress. Cue a rather dramatic fallout, some bizarre behaviour from all concerned and a few hints that there’s more to this than there seems to be. As we progress through the story we get the viewpoint of the mistress, and it’s clear she has her own agenda. We don’t get to learn why until quite late on, by which time we’re led to believe that multiple characters all have their own reasons for behaving as they do. There’s a few red herrings thrown our way, and a bit of delaying with the details about Lou’s past. The twists weren’t all that unexpected by the time we get to the closing stages, but I liked few of the characters and found myself rather surprised by their conduct towards the closing stages.
In "The Stalker", we have a multi-layered tale of suspense and survival. We meet Lou, a former tennis player whose comfortable life with her husband, Phillip, is shattered by a mysterious note revealing his infidelity. This discovery not only threatens her marriage but also triggers terrifying flashbacks to her past, when she was stalked and tormented by a similar series of messages. As Lou fights to reclaim her life and protect her family, the tension ramps up with every page. The narrative seamlessly shifts between her present-day turmoil and her harrowing past, keeping us guessing who she can trust. With well defined characters and a plot full of suspense, this book is a gripping psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last, shocking twist. All loose ends are tied up as neatly as a brand new tennis racquet wrapped up in a bow, and I can't wait for the next book from Teri Terry! I received an advance copy of this book and this is my own opinion.
I was invited to read an early copy of Teri Terry’s “The Stalker.” It’s the first book I read of hers. Lou receives a note on her windshield that tells her to go home, now. When she arrives, she discovers her husband in bed with another woman.
Soon, more notes begin arriving. They remind her of notes she got over 20 years ago, back when she was playing tennis. Lou tries to figure out who’s the author of the notes and how they seem to know where she is to leave them for her. She also wonders why Freja, the woman in bed with her husband, looks familiar.
This book alternates between a few different narrators. The reader hears from Lou, Freja, Lou’s youngest daughter (Jessie), and Lucy (the name Lou went by during her tennis days). I figured out a couple of the twists, but the book was fast-paced and suspenseful at times.
Overall, I recommend this book. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.
I enjoyed this one and if you like Frieda McFadden you will enjoy this book

WOW! This is the first book I’ve read from Teri Terry, and she nailed it! All my boxes for a suspenseful psychological thriller were checked✅! It’s a quick page-turner that immediately sucked me in with a good cast of characters, a marriage in decline, enthralling back stories, multiple mysteries and twists that kept on twisting. The stalker situation is complex and mysterious and left me guessing till the end. It’s a new 5 star favorite for me that I highly recommend!
***I received an advance copy from Boldwood Books via NetGalley, and these thoughts are my own opinion***
Lucy (Lou) gets a note on her windshield to go home immediately, and when she does she discovers husband, Philip in bed with another woman. Devastated and angry, she sideswipes his car and calls friend, Iona to vent. But since she had a stalker 25 years ago, she wonders if it's "him" coming to haunt her or something else. Of course she trusts Iona as they played tennis together years ago and though they were competitors, they remained friends even as they both played at Wimbledon. It's a wonderfully convoluted story of friends, competitors, and jealousy. I loved every minute of it! Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
From the acclaimed and bestselling author of gripping thrillers, The Step Daughter's Lie and The Patient, Teri Terry captivates readers once again with her latest intricately woven psychological thriller, THE STALKER.
TWISTY. PUZZLING. ENGROSSING. Prepare to embark on a mind-blowing journey packed with more twists, turns, and tension than a tennis match! With unreliable narrators, red herrings, and a complex, multi-layered plot, this heart-pounding thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat while frantically trying to uncover the identity of THE STALKER (s).
What's it about...
Lou, a former tennis prodigy, finds her carefully crafted life unraveling when an anonymous note reveals her husband’s infidelity. The shocking discovery sends her spiraling back to a painful chapter from two decades ago, when she was stalked and terrorized by an unknown assailant while on tour.
This resurgence of old fears ignites a torrent of unsettling memories, bringing with it an onslaught of threatening notes and eerie incidents that blur the lines between the past and present.
Once known as Lucy, she adopted the name Lou at the urging of her close friend Iona, who saw her potential beyond the shadow of her former life. Years before, a promising tennis career, an accident, and the ever-looming threat of her stalker, Lou was forced to abandon the tour and tennis, leaving behind a world of bright lights and fierce competition.
Now, in her quiet suburban life, Lou (forty-something) is married to Phillip, a successful attorney and former policeman, and mother to three grown children: Flick, and twins, Jessie and James at university, along with her cherished grandson.
Everything changes the day Lou finds the ominous note on her car, compelling her to return home. The sight that greets her when she steps through the door is devastating: Phillip entwined in the sheets with his much younger mistress, the alluring Freja.
As Lou grapples with betrayal, darkness descends further. Sinister events unfold, each more disturbing than the last, as the threats and notes against her intensify, putting not just her own safety but also the well-being of children at risk. With panic mounting, Lou is forced to confront the shadowy presence stalking her anew.
Is this tormentor a haunting remnant from her past as a young tennis star, or is it somehow linked to Freja, Phillip’s mistress, or someone else? With danger lurking in every corner, Lou must delve deep into the recesses of her life to uncover the truth and protect her family from this malevolent force, and make her own way without relying on others whom she has trusted.
My thoughts...
Beneath the surface of seemingly perfect lives, the intricate and twisty plot revolves around Lou's determined effort to reclaim her life from the shadows of a relentless stalker, leading her to unearth a tangled web of secrets woven into her past, where nothing is as it appears.
The narrative plunges into the chaos sparked by the betrayal of Phillip and Freja, entwined in a passionate embrace, shattering the very foundation of everything she believed to be true. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Lou leaves him, seeking solace in the comfort of Iona and her old friend, Steve, a cop. She may have to move back in with Phillip so she can investigate the mistress's past. The threats persist, lurking in the corners of her life like a dark cloud.
As the story oscillates between past and present, readers are treated to vivid flashes of Lou's (Lucy's) once-glorious tennis career, juxtaposed with the sinister harassment she endures—menacing notes and acts of vandalism that instill a palpable fear for her family's safety.
Driven by paranoia and suspicion, Lou becomes convinced that Freja may be the mastermind behind the torment, seeking to claim Phillip for herself, which sets her on a dangerous path of her own investigation. Is there another hidden motive?
When the past and present converse, it is electrifying! A read in one sitting.
The narrative unfolds cleverly through multiple perspectives: Lou, who navigates the turmoil of her life; Lucy, her former self; Freja, the seductive mistress; and Jessie, her daughter. Each voice offers a glimpse into their experiences and hidden truths, enriching the complexity of the storyline.
The lives intertwine and connect as essential pieces of the whodunit mystery, unveiling long-buried secrets of their family's past and present with a cast of suspicious characters and red herrings which add to the layers of tension in this wicked game of cat-and-mouse.
As Lou delves deeper, the quest for the stalker's identity becomes fraught with unexpected challenges, revealing that the threat is not as simplistic as it seems. The deeper she digs into Freja's enigmatic history, the more unsettling revelations about her own past begin to surface, creating a whirlwind of confusion and fear.
From secret motivations, high-risk maneuvers, and a sense of impending doom, readers will be guessing to the end as to the identity of more than one culprit.
In a breathtaking twist, Lou realizes that the danger has not merely been an external force; it has been embedded within her own story all along. The narrative expertly shifts between her present struggles and haunting memories, competition, revenge, friendship, marriage, and the unveiling of shocking truths of trust and betrayal.
Terry masterfully crafts a tale that grips you from start to finish. As the third book I've read by her, I'm continually amazed by her ability to breathe life into well-developed characters navigating twisty plots, multiple mysteries, and orchestrating jaw-dropping plot twists, with complex characters that make this gripping domestic suspense thriller a profound exploration of deception and hidden truths.
Recs...

L. Slater, and Keri Beevis. With its intricately woven plot and engaging characters, this thriller promises to enthrall anyone who enjoys a suspenseful journey filled with unexpected twists and turns.
Many thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
*ARC REVIEW* It starts with a note on Lou's car, telling her she needs to get home now. She walks in to find her husband in bed with another woman. She goes to stay with a friend, but the notes continue. Who is her stalker, and why are they warning her away from her husband?
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one at first. How many times do we need another story about a married man cheating with a much younger woman? It’s been done so many times. I almost gave up halfway through, since not much was happening other than Lou getting more and more paranoid. But I stuck with it. The story did pick up in the second half, and while it was better, it still didn’t have that wow factor for me. It wasn’t a bad book, just not one that really hit the spot. I’ll definitely give this author another try, though.
My third book by Teri Terry and my second five star read written by her. Another really gripping psychological thriller that deserves no less than five stars.
Lou finds an anonymous note on her car after an impulsive decision to stop and get a coffee on her way to a cookery course in London. The note tells her to go home and, unable to shake the feeling that something is wrong, she decides to listen to the note, and she turns the car around and heads home. What she discovers when she gets there turns her life upside down. Needing comfort, she takes refuge at her best friend, Iona’s, home. However, as the days go past the notes keep coming and strange incidents are occurring. This takes Lou back into her past- a past she has fought hard to forget- she starts worrying that her past and present are colliding but now it isn’t just Lou under threat, it’s her family too, would someone hurt them to get to her?!
What a fantastic read this was. I really enjoyed the multiple POV’s, the going back in time and I also really liked Jessie. At the start I didn’t warm to Lou, but her character development throughout the story was brilliant and as she got bolder and braver I definitely started liking her more and by the end I loved her pluckiness. There was one character who I really didn’t like or trust right from the minute they appeared in the story, and my mistrust was partly correct- however I believe this is more due to me being an avid psychological thriller reader than it being obvious that they were a suspicious character. I was on tenterhooks wondering who one of the characters were and how they would fit into the story, and that led to the story being so gripping I hated to have to stop reading and do life! I loved the twists and although I partly guessed one, the second I absolutely didn’t see coming which was great. So I was partly right with one and surprised with the second- great combination 😉.
Overall, this was a great psychological thriller which I highly recommend. Teri Terry knows how to hook a reader in, keep them in suspense and keep them turning pages! I can’t wait to read her next book due out in March 2026.
I wanted to add that I really hope this review does the story justice as it was a little difficult to write as I was desperate to not give anything away as my reviews are always spoiler free. So, I apologise if the review has been a little cryptic.
Thank you to NetGalley, Teri Terry and Boldwood Books for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
Lou returns to her car to find a note beneath the windscreen wiper. “IF I WERE YOU, I’D GO HOME. NOW” - an anonymous note, written in capitals and in red ink.
Well, what a way to start this British psychological thriller. Needless to say, Lou who is 44, does return immediately to her home in Beaconsfield and this thrilling, mind bending story begins. I love how this story is told from many points of view, mainly from Lou’s but also from Freja, the mistress - Iona, a friend from childhood plus Lou’s 3 grown-up children.
I have not read a book from Teri Terry before and I find her writing first class. I am impressed by the quality, editing and content. The plot is brilliant and everything works out in the end. Lou does have a stalker but it could be anyone - will she find out who it is or the reader work it out themselves? I liked how the stalker could simply be anyone or even someone who Lou has never met, face to face. I liked the way the stalking was explained and how it affected Lou, making her suspicious of everyone and always looking over her shoulder, fearing she was being followed. Stalking is a big part of the plot but there is a lot more as Freya is the mistress.
There were many tears shed between the pages and Teri repeatedly wrote “tears prick my eyes, and I blink them back” but don’t let that put you off, this is a gritty psychological thriller and NOT some romantic drama. One of my pet hates is people under-estimating travel times and do not allow enough time for their journey. Thankfully the Teri is realistic and states that it will take Iona over 90 minutes to drive from Islington in London to Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire - well done girl. She does give one claim that I totally agree with and makes me smile…
Shopping is the seventh circle of hell as far as I’m concerned.
… I found The Stalker to be an engaging read with no boring or dull bits. Character development was at a good pace and I developed a tremendous empathy for Lou and believe she made the right choices towards and at the end of this book. The Stalker was an OUTSTANDING 5 star read and I will be reading more from Teri Terry in the future.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher Boldwood Books for passing me an ARC on the understanding that I post a review.
When our main character Lou's car is side swiped she is really mad, however, it is the note left on her vehicle that really sets her world spinning on its axis, "Go Home." Unsure how to feel she does just that only to find her husband in bed with another woman. Deciding she is not standing for that she leaves to move in with a friend. However who was the mystery person who left her the note on her car? After her move the notes just keep coming and she is completely perplexed as to who could be behind it and who is watching her every movement. This book switches povs between Lou and her husband's mistress, Freja. I loved the dual perspectives because you got a much more immersive story and to also get the devil's advocate on a cheating story is a little rare in novels. Lou is not only plagued with suffering now the book also flashes back to the past where she suffered through a bunch of similar messages. Lou is desperate to protect herself and her family as we the readers are wondering who is really to blame and who are we able to fully believe. With so much happening I did find myself getting lost in the story however some of the situations I loved more than others. I really liked all of the major plot twists and I was desperate to figure out who was behind the notes before the big reveal at the end. There was a lot of back and forth in this novel however it was clearly identified and it made for a much more intense read seeing all of the angles. I loved trying to figure out who was behind the messages. Really fast paced read that I'm so glad I got to read. This was such an intense thriller with very well written characters. I loved the ending it gave me such a shock that I stayed up all night to finish it. Great job for a first read by this author I can't wait to read more from her in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.
Teri Terry’s The Stalker is a fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps readers on edge from the first page. The story begins when Lou receives an anonymous note on her car telling her to go home immediately. Obeying it, she discovers her husband in bed with another woman, setting off a chain of events that resurrects painful memories from her past when a stalker once upended her life.
Lou is a compelling and relatable protagonist—strong, vulnerable, and determined to uncover the truth. Terry’s use of multiple points of view, including Lou’s past as a promising tennis player, allows readers to peek into other characters’ perspectives, adding depth and complexity to the story. The alternating timelines are handled clearly, keeping the suspense taut without confusion.
The novel is packed with twists, red herrings, and moments of genuine tension. The mystery of who is leaving the notes—her husband’s mistress, the past stalker, or someone else entirely—keeps readers guessing until the final reveal. Friends and family add emotional stakes, and the sense of being watched permeates the story, heightening the psychological intensity.
While a few sections feel slightly repetitive, the overall pacing and clever plotting more than make up for it. Terry delivers a thriller that’s both emotionally engaging and suspenseful, with a satisfying conclusion that ties together the dual timelines and motives.
If you enjoy character-driven suspense with intricate plotting and plenty of twists, The Stalker is a must-read. I’m already looking forward to Teri Terry’s next thriller.
The Stalker by Teri Terry is a complex tale of suspense, menace, and deception that I found a little difficult to review. The story opens with Lou having a coffee before she drives to London. When she leaves the coffee shop, she finds a cryptic note on the windscreen of her car, telling her to go home. In the past, Lou had a stalker. The note causes her to feel traumatised, so instead of driving to London, she heads straight home. On entering the house, she hears noises coming from upstairs. She then walks in on her husband having sex with another woman.
Lou walks out and goes to stay with her friend Iona. Unfortunately, the threatening notes don’t stop. New notes appear on the car and at Iona’s house. She starts to question whether the notes have anything to do with Freja, the woman her husband was in bed with.
Up to this point in the story, I loved the book as the premise was really chilling. Unfortunately, the mid-section of the book didn’t live up to the promising start. Lou starts stalking Freja, the woman her husband was in bed with. Then Lou’s twin children get involved. The story is told from multiple points of view: Lou in the present and the past, Freja and one of Lou’s twins. For me, this didn’t quite work. I couldn’t warm to any of the characters as they were all behaving badly. It did pick up towards the end, and there was a satisfying conclusion. I do believe, though, that this could have been a 5-star read with more menace and fewer flights of fancy.
3 stars from me. Sincere thanks to Netgalley, Teri Terry and especially Boldwood Books for the much-appreciated ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.
I enjoyed this book, for the most part, though not sure I really connected with the characters. The story centers on Lou, whose life implodes in a second when she discovers her husband is cheating. She also starts to get creepy notes that remind her of a stalker she had back when she played professional tennis 20+ years ago- the culture was never found and she is concerned that maybe they have found her after all this time. You also get chapters from the POV of Freja, the other woman, and from Jessie, one of Lou's teenaged children.
The notes were creepy, though not as creepy as the one's Lou got when she played tennis- I enjoyed those flashback chapters that gave me good insight into her character. I didn't agree with a lot of the decisions Lou made, and while I theoretically understood why she was doing some of the things she did, I just thought they were not the right decisions. Freja also made bad decisions but it was interesting delving into her background as well and learning about the skeletons in her closet. I think I liked Jessie the best- she acted her age but also seemed reasonable overall. I figured out one of the twists pretty early on and thought I had the other big twist right, but ended up being surprised when that one came to light. I was kind of ok with the way the book ended, though I wasn't sure if normal people would really react the way these characters did, and it also left a few unanswered questions.
Overall, despite not totally "getting" these characters, I thought this was an easy read, both fast-paced and twisty. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What would you do if you found a note telling you that the best thing you could do was to go home as quickly as possible? Would you follow the anonymous messenger’s instructions, or dismiss it as a bad joke? And if you did obey, what kind of scenarios would be running through your mind?
When this happens to Lou, she doesn’t quite know what to think, but her instinct tells her she has to find out what it’s all about. However, as soon as she gets home, she wishes she could unsee what unfolds before her eyes…
Lou is a character I found very likeable. She may be a little overprotective, but that comes from events in her past, which we gradually learn more about.
The fact that the author lets different characters speak and share their side of the story is a narrative style I’m a big fan of. It allows you to take a “peek” into the minds of other characters and see how they experience everything.
Friends who support you and are always there for you are a treasure. You trust them blindly because you believe they only want the best for you — right?
I thought this was a particularly enjoyable book with fantastic characters. It once again drives home the fact that people are often motivated purely by self-interest and don’t hesitate to go to great lengths to achieve it.
Everything fit together so well, and the tension was constantly present. There were a few characters I didn’t completely trust, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on the how or why.
I’m a fan and already look forward to the next book by this author. 5 stars.
Teri Terry’s The Stalker is the kind of thriller that had me double-checking my doors before going to bed. From the very first chapter, I was pulled into the tension and paranoia. This isn’t just a story about being watched—it’s about the terrifying feeling that someone knows your every move, and you don’t know why. The fast pace and constant suspense kept me hooked, my heart racing page after page.
What I loved most was the creepy atmosphere. Terry makes normal things—like an open window, a creak on the stairs, or a text at the wrong time—feel dangerous. These little details built up until I felt just as jumpy as the main character. At times, it was so real that I caught myself looking over my shoulder, almost expecting the stalker to be there.
The characters also made the story powerful. Each one—whether a friend, a victim, or a suspect—had depth and secrets. I never knew who to trust, which made me keep turning the pages. As the mystery unfolded, I realized I was guessing and doubting everyone, just like the heroine.
And the ending? Absolutely shocking. Every time I thought I knew the truth, Terry surprised me again, pulling the story into even darker twists. When it was over, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the little clues I had missed. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that keep you on edge and make you second-guess everything, The Stalker is a must-read.
Thanks for Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

When Lou finds her husband of twenty-three years in bed with another woman, she leaves him. Then, random notes are being left for her. She decides she needs to try and catch the person behind them. She had been stalked once before
Filled with twists, red herrings and has a steady pace. When the notes start arriving, it reminds Lou of the notes she received twenty years ago. The story is told from several points of view.

Thank you to and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a fantastic page turner of a psychological thriller. It was my first book by this author and it certainly won't be the last.
Imagine the terror finding a threatening note left on your car. Not having a clue who may have left it. And then a few days later, receiving another note, then another. It's enough to send shivers down your spine.
This was a really entertaining read. The story had plenty of twists and turns that kept me hooked—I was always eager to find out who the stalker was and whether the things I suspected were actually happening. The suspense was solid, and the twists were done well.
The book alternates between multiple points of view and two different timelines. I enjoy these structures when they are well written and you can easily follow what is happening and when. The book is really well written and I thoroughly enjoyed following main character Lucy, and her family and friends from beginning to the end.
Lucy was a great character, resilient, curious and easy to invest my time in as I went on the journey with her, as the story unraveled and we find the answers she was searching for.
If you enjoy a book with hidden secrets, family dynamics, suspense and shocking discoveries you will really enjoy this one.
• ARC REVIEW • Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books publishing for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own. • First off, I fully support Lou in what she did at the end of chapter 1!! You go girl 👏🏻 an icon honestly. An amazing start to an incredible book.
I immediately didn’t like Philip and Freja for obvious reasons. Freja seems very conniving and Philip trying to act like nothing happened is just so typical of the kind of man he is, he’s not really sorry, just sorry he got caught.
I liked trying to figure out who was behind the notes and unfortunately I did guess who it was quite early on, it was obvious to me but I still liked the book. I do wish that I wasn’t right and it was more of a complete shock but it was just very predictable.
Reading about what happened to Lou (or Lucy back then) when she was younger was interesting, seeing how her and Iona became friends and also how she was terrorised, and then finding out who? I wasn’t expecting that at all.
Overall, despite being predictable I did still really like this book. It’s a good psychological thriller that I definitely recommend.
Teri Terry’s The Stalker is a slow-burning, emotionally taut thriller that lingers in the mind long after the final page. From the moment Lou receives that chilling anonymous note, the novel builds a quiet, insidious tension—layer by layer, breath by breath.
What begins as personal betrayal quickly spirals into something darker. The sense of being watched, of danger creeping ever closer, is rendered with unnerving precision. Terry’s prose is sharp and atmospheric, and the domestic setting only heightens the unease—making the ordinary feel suddenly unsafe.
Lou is a compelling lead: vulnerable yet determined, caught between suspicion and survival. As she begins to unravel Freja’s past, the story deepens into something more complex than a simple case of revenge. Secrets surface. Truths twist. And the real threat proves far more intimate than expected.
This is a thriller that doesn’t rely on shock—it thrives on dread. Perfect for readers who love their suspense layered with emotional depth and psychological nuance.
The Stalker by Teri Terry is an addictive and jaw-dropping domestic suspense story.
It all starts with an anonymous note left on Lou's windshield advising her to head home immediately. What she walks into leaves her reeling and sends her to stay with her longtime bestie to sort out her options. As more anonymous notes are left, each one more menacing than the last, Lou returns to her home to protect herself and her family. But who, if anyone, should she trust?
This was a fast-paced page turner that I couldn't stop reading. It is told through multiple perspectives and timelines, giving a complete picture of why Lou is a bit unhinged. I did enjoy her character even though she was a bit fragile. Though I did guess the ending, there were many more twists and surprises waiting in the wings. This was my first read by Terry, but I most definitely will be reading more by her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Stalker by Teri Terry is a tense and twisty psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first threatening note. Lou’s life unravels after she discovers her husband’s betrayal, and soon she finds herself questioning who she can trust, what’s real, and whether she’s truly safe.
What I really enjoyed was the creeping sense of paranoia throughout the story. The tension builds in subtle ways — from everyday moments to chilling revelations — and Teri Terry does a great job of keeping you guessing. The twists were sharp, and the pace kept me turning pages quickly.
A couple of parts did feel slightly over-the-top, and I wanted more depth from some of the side characters, but overall this was a gripping, entertaining read.
If you enjoy domestic noir and psychological thrillers full of secrets, lies, and betrayals, this one is definitely worth picking up.
The Stalker by Teri Terry was a quick read. Not because it was short, because I wanted to find out what happened next!
It was entertaining enough, however I did skim through some details. There were a lot of characters and was told in several POVs.
Lou is a retired tennis professional living in the burbs with her lawyer husband and has three grown-ish children and one grandchild. Lou arrives home one morning to find her husband of 20+ years in bed with a much younger woman. As Lou navigates what to do next, she starts receiving anonymous threatening letters. Who is this stalker? Lou has to play the game to find out.
I definitely enjoyed this one. Solid 3.5 stars.
