The clock struck midnight, but when Prince Charming is a detective, he has no problem hunting down his mafia Cinderella in this spicy holiday retelling by Top 35 Best Selling author Jill Ramsower.
Sachi I was trapped in a nightmarish conversation when a gorgeous man in a masquerade mask saved me with a kiss.
He pretended to be my date. He danced with me. Enchanted me. Then, invited me home with him.
It was supposed to be a delicious night of anonymity.
I never expected our paths to cross the very next day. Me with my Mafia friends, and him … the police detective.
What to expect from Mistletoe Masquerade:Cinderella storyHoliday Masquerade ballSecret identityOne-night standAlpha heroJealous/possessive heroLaw enforcementBillionaire For those of you who are new to me, I write what I'd call "mafia lite." My heroes are hardened criminals with soft spots for their heroines. There may be violence and cruelty in my books, but never between the main characters. Enjoy!
Jill is a Texan, born and raised. She manages the hectic social calendars for her three active children and occasionally spends an evening with her dashing husband. Aside from being an author and a mom, she's a travel junkie and loves to read when she is not lost in her own stories.
With Jill’s books, you can count on confident heroines, plenty of steamy tension, and deliciously assertive leading men. There are no guarantees in life, but with her books, you know everything will work out in the end. However, a perfect ending would not be nearly as satisfying without a seemingly insurmountable challenge. Jill loves to add plenty of adversity in her stories, creating unforgettably dynamic characters and sneaky plot twists you will never see coming.
It's a novella, so things happened quickly. It's insta-love, I think? They were attracted to each other from the start, and after their ONS, they felt things they never had before. So both of them planned to see each other again. However, Sachi is friends with individuals involved in organized crime, while Dean works as a detective. She realized it's not going to work, and she said she's not going to choose him over her friends, so she snuck out the next morning.
The next morning, they met again at the house of one of Sachi's friends. Both of them were surprised, and then Dean thought she was sent to spy on him. Things happened blah blah blah. For a novella, I'm really surprised and annoyed because the author still managed to include a week or two of separation.
Anyway, things got resolved eventually, and the story ended in an HFN. He asked her to move in with him after 2 months of dating, I think? So…
Book info: - Novella - ONS - Insta-love - No cheating, OM/OW - No V (both seemed to be experienced 🙌🏽) - With separation - HFN (2 mos later, agreed to live together)
Mistletoe Masquerade is a spicy insta-lust detective/friend of the mafia novella
I loved this story! Sachi just wanted to attend one of the fancy parties she always caters for, she not only gets her Cinderella moment but goes home with the hot detective too. After a mind blowing evening with Dean, Sachi gets nervous about her mafia ties and runs out before he can wake up. Dean, feeling a little put out, puts on his detective hat to find the woman whose last name he doesn't know. Unexpectedly for both of them, Dean shows up at Sante's house, while Sachi is over, and he immediately assumes the worst. Will their mis-communication stop this spicy ride before it even starts, or will they get a chance to have their happily ever after?
I love that Sachi and Dean meet at a masquerade ball, where there is no slow-burn, but an instant one night stand that both of them really hope can be more. It makes sense that Sachi would get nervous to even try to date a Detective considering her best friend is married to a guy in the mafia. That could definitely put her in a weird situation. Dean walking in and assuming Sachi was a set-up to get information, also tracks, I think it made sense that he jumped to that conclusion, even if he was wrong. I mean, it is the mafia.
What a perfect holiday romance though, Sachi and Dean even manage to get snowed in together and enjoy the holiday. This is definitely a fast paced romance, but when you find that certain someone that you can't stop thinking about, why not dive straight in and enjoy that...man-dy cane!
Some fave quotes: "The sparks of desire, the combustible heat. It electrifies the air around us."
"The hand at my back radiates warmth to an already volcanic heat building in my center, while the skin-on-skin contact of our joined hands sends bolts of liquid lightning through my veins enough to power the entire Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center."
"He's persistent and perceptive and generous and deliciously self-assured-all qualities that serve him well as a detective. They also have the potential to make him an incredible lover. What I wouldn't give to test that theory...Holy hell, am I really considering that?"
"Maybe this is my chance to have my cake and eat it, too. Man-dy cane cake."
"Orgasms are fabulous, but there's nothing like the feel of being well f***ed."
"But with Dean, I couldn't control the wildfire raging inside me if I had to. He's in command, and my body has sworn fealty to obey only him. I am simply along for the ride. And what a magnificent ride it is."
"The man. Is. Spectacular. There are truly no words for his brand of perfection. Dean is the physical embodiment of masculinity. Of predatory grace. Each sculpted muscle flexes with restrained power as he moves, his actions dripping with a natural dominance."
Thank you so much to Valentine PR and the author for a copy of this book!
4.25🌟! This was such a fun, short, lighthearted and cute romance. It also had beautiful festive cheer. I loved Sachi and Dean. They had such a combustible chemistry. Their love scenes were 🔥. Like The girls said, Dean was a complete Man-dy cane! Loved seeing the Moretti gang again.

I received an advance review copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a quick read. It was really good! I enjoyed the characters and the story. It was spicy and it gave us detective and mafia, I ate it up. I can’t wait to read more from this series!
Jill Ramsower’s Mistletoe Masquerade couldn’t have arrived at a better time. Combining my love of mafia romance, spice, and a Christmas spin, all wrapped up in a novella—pun intended. Mistletoe Masquerade is one of those stories that can also be read anytime of the year, not just during the holidays.
One of the great things about Mistletoe Masquerade is that if you’re new to Mafia Romance or want to dip your toes in and are not ready for anything dark, this would be the perfect start.
Sachi is a fun character, which leads her to crash a masked Christmas policeman’s ball. The way she and Dean met left a big ole smile on my face. The heat and tension between them are immediate, and the way Jill Ramsower writes it, it’s as if you’re experiencing it with them.
There are some misunderstandings/miscommunications, and lots of making up to do, which I love in stories. The spicy scenes were hot. Mistletoe Masquerade is a must-read this holiday season.
Thank you to Author Jill Ramsower for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Skąd znała go Sanchi?
✨ Thank you to Jill Ramsower and Hambright PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. ✨
This was my first novel by Jill Ramsower and my introduction to the Moretti Men series, and I really enjoyed this fast-paced holiday romance with a Cinderella-style twist. Sachi sneaks into the annual masquerade ball in disguise, hoping for one night of fun. She’s caught off guard by Detective Dean Malone, who rescues her, kisses her, and offers to be her masked date for the evening.
The two share an intense connection and spend the night together, only to cross paths again the very next day—this time with Sachi surrounded by her mafia friends. Dean instantly suspects she’s hiding something, and the tension quickly builds. Can a one-night spark turn into something real when secrets and danger stand in the way?
Read Mistletoe Masquerade if you enjoy holiday romance novellas featuring forbidden attraction, hidden identities, and a one-night encounter that could become more. This cute and spicy novella is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.
I think this is my 4th Christmas book/novella and it is only the beginning of November but I am certainly not complaining 🤭
Mistletoe Masquerade is a Cinderella retelling mixed with a mafia element. If you have read the Moretti Men series you actually would have previously met our FMC Sachi, who is Dani’s bestfriend (Deaths Favour) and our MMC Dean Malone, the detective who works closely with Sante.
Now how would these two cross paths might you add well - Sachi was working at the annual policeman ball but she decided rather than just work these sort of functions all the time, she wanted to experience it just for once. She is soon accosted by a man no sooner than she entered the ball and Mr Malone comes to the rescue.
Now Dean was an absolute goner from the moment he laid eyes on her. He kept a firm and possessive arm around her at all times, even though they just met his arm simply wouldn’t correspond and thought its rightful place was on the small of Sachi’s back. Of course the feeling was completely mutual for Sachi and one thing led to another and the pair shared a steamy night together.
Even though she felt a connection with Dean she knew it could only be a one night thing due to the nature of work her friends husbands are involved in - so she done the only rational thing she could think of and sneak out of his apartment with the intention of never seeing him again. But this was soon short lived as she comes face to face with Dean soon again while she’s at her friends apartment.
Overall I loved this short novella I honestly would have read so much more on these two but I’m glad they got their story. Dean and Sachi were perfect, their chemistry was explosive from their first meeting, oh my the mouth on Dean- who would have thought🤭 Sachi was sweet and feisty and she certainly wasn’t afraid to ask for exactly what she wanted when it came to Dean 💅. It was most certainly nice to go back into the Moretti Men world and see my favs once again.
Thank you to VPR who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
I love a good Christmas romance novella and this one was no exception. I love the masquerade idea! I’m such a big fan of those, and their meet cute was adorable. They had the most amazing one night stand but the magic only lasted until midnight, and they had to go back to their lives. I love the forbidden romance aspect, it’s was so intense and I wasn’t expecting it at all. The plot was so thick and I was hooked into every moment. I loved both characters, and although they didn’t get much development (it’s hard for such a short book), they both were super unique and stood out to me. Yes their trust issues irked me a little but Dean tried really hard to make up for it so I forgive him. The smut was amazing, nothing too major, a couple fun kinks, and so much romantic goodness. I loved both characters the “it’s never been like this” trope. I really enjoyed this read, it was full of fun holiday spirit and cute romance, I give it a 4/5
I'd recommend this if you are in the mood for a spicy mafia lite story about what happens when a masked detective encounters an uninvited guest at a masquerade ball.
Overall, I rate it 3⭐out of 5 based on the following: 🤩Enjoyment - 3; 👥Characters - 3; 📖Plot - 3; 🗺️Atmosphere - 3; and🖋️Writing - 3 with the first 3 categories being most important. In my opinion, a 3⭐rating is still a good book, but I know I won't' be compelled to re-read it again in the future. While this was my first time reading something by this author, I enjoyed this enough that it won't be my last.
What worked for me: • It was a quick holiday read along the lines of Cinderella
I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book; however, all opinions are my own.
A Christmas Novella, but with Cinderella story vibes, mafia, and some hidden identy! Yes please! I loved this quick and fun story! From the beginning I was hooked!
Dean is a police detective with a dirty mouth, & Sachi is a fiesty,, fun FMC who isn’t afraid to ask for what she wants. Their paths collide & their chemistry was perfection! I absolutely loved the masquerade aspect of this!! Add in a little suspense and forbidden love & this was the perfect christmas read!!
ARC Review of ‘Mistletoe Masquerade’ by Jill Ramsower. I have read a few of this author’s books, and here we have yet again a great one! A shorter one tho, but this novella has all the Christmas feels intertwined with a modern twist of Cinderella feels. Sachi decides to be brave and bold and mingle with the guests at a masquerade ball where she meets Dean. The detective who swooped in and saved his damsel from icky men. Little do they know, is that their interaction sends out a chemistry overload that will bind their future like magic. Sachi is sweet and smart, Dean is the hunky, respectable detective with high sense of duty. Their 🌶️ is sweet and delicious. Oh and ps, I haaad to look up what butter art was, cause I had no idea that was a thing🤣🤣
If you like a short 🌶️-y holiday romance, then this should be on your TbR list 5/5⭐️
This was the perfect Christmas novella! I loved this story! It gave Cinderella vibes with some mafia. I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved the authors writing and can’t wait to read more from her.
Sachi is feisty and fun who isn’t afraid to say what and who she wants. Dean is a detective with a perfect filthy mouth. When their paths collide at the Christmas masquerade party they can’t deny their chemistry. I loved these two so much!
If you’re looking to dip your toes into mafia romance and don’t want anything dark this would be the perfect start! Def add this to your holiday tbr! A top Christmas read for sure!
4.5⭐️
Thank you to the author and hambright pr for this ARC!
If you love a beautiful Cinderella retelling with some mafia in it then definitely read this!
This is definitely the spiciest book and I devoured it. Sachi and Dean are definitely hot together.
Dean is a detective that sometimes works with her friends. The two meet at a masquerade ball that Sachi actually works at and decides to crash. Both catch feelings for each other before the night ends but Sachi doesn’t know how they can date when her friends are criminals and he’s a cop.
Their chemistry was explosive from their first meet and I loved both characters!!
I love Jill Ramsower's writing and how her MMCs are sweet but over the top at the same time. Dean was no exception and I ate up every page of this novella!
There was the perfect amount of story and spice and I thought it was balanced well as a novella. It definitely has the insta-love elements, but it worked well in the story. My favorite part of the story was definitely seeing detective Dean skirt the law a little. I want to see more of that side of him.
It was nice to see the other couples from book 1 and 2 of the Moretti series but this can totally be read as a standalone!
Lust, intrigue and a game of holiday cat and mouse that any romance lover will want to read!!
I was obsessed with this couple from the start. From the first touch I knew the fire between the two would be hot and it was. Our fierce heroine had the broody detective doing things he couldn’t ever imagine doing but the line between love and hate knows no bounds!
4.25 ⭐️’s- This was my first Jill Ramsower book, and it definitely won’t be my last! This standalone Christmas novella with a Cinderella retelling completely stole my heart. I loved the festive mafia twist, and now I’m so excited to jump into book one of this series. Highly recommend! 🎄✨
Dean and Sachi meet at the police masked Christmas gala. The attraction is strong and they spend the night together happily. When Dean see’s Sachi at the Morreti’s house later he feels set up. There is a bit of confusion and some heartbreak but this all turns into a lovely Christmas romance! Dean is so thoughtful and Sachi falls quickly! And of course there are Moretti’s! Merry merry🎄!
took my heart, dipped it in glitter, kissed it under a chandelier at midnight, and then threw it straight into a cinnamon-scented, mafia-tinged Christmas fever dream and I LOVED EVERY SECOND.
Dean and Sachi… I am feral. I am unwell. I am still fanning myself like some Victorian woman who just witnessed ankle. The masquerade kiss?? The way he just steps in and pretends to be her date like he’s been waiting his whole life for this exact moment?? I was SCREAMING. This man wasn’t just alpha—he was alpha with PURPOSE. Kissing-for-rescue should be its own trope and Jill Ramsower just perfected it.
And then the next day??? The WHIPLASH of realizing Prince Charming is actually Detective Prince Charming and Sachi is rolling with her mafia crew??? I swear I had to put the book down and laugh because the CHAOS. The TENSION. The “oh no, we slept together and now we’re on opposite sides of the law” goodness??? Inject it straight into my bloodstream.
Dean being jealous and possessive in that low, simmering, mine kind of way?? Sachi being this perfect blend of bold and vulnerable??? Their chemistry is not sparks—it is a full electrical fire. Someone call emergency services (but not Dean, he’s busy making eyes at his mafia Cinderella).
The Cinderella vibes?? Immaculate. The holiday masquerade ball?? I could SEE the twinkle lights. The secret identity + one-night-stand collision?? DELICIOUS. The law-enforcement-meets-billionaire-meets-mafia-lite chaos??? Chef’s kiss.
This book is EXACTLY what I want when I want to sink into a festive, spicy, high-stakes romance with a hero who would burn down Christmas just to keep his girl safe. Jill Ramsower’s mafia lite world hits that perfect balance—danger swirling around the edges but never touching the heart of the romance. And Dean and Sachi’s romance? Perfection.
I’m still swooning. I’m still grinning. I’m still thinking about that masquerade kiss.
Sachi, was so much fun to read about and I loved her sense of fun and being adventurous and that was one of the things I liked most about her that she determined to do things her way that was most favourite things about her character. It was a short novella but I liked reading about her sense of excitement and belonging with her friends.
This was a kinky and enjoyable read with the chemistry that was just so fascinating to explore with Dean but I felt the explosive desire that thy had for each other but it was spicy and sweet while along the lines of exploring their own aspects of being together as a couple.
What I liked about Dean, is that he wasn’t afraid to pursue Sachi, and how he would never forgive himself if he let her walk away at the start it was really fitting to dive into his way of breaking rules just for her and proving to love her at the end of this sweet and spicy novella which gave me everything I wanted to make it a 5 star read!
I loved reading a Christmas novella it was one of a kind and got me into reading something so memorable that I don’t think I will ever forget it because these characters went across barriers to be with each other and not deny their chemistry or the feelings that were undeniable for both of them.
I’d wondered about a certain detective. He clearly walks a line most of the time, but he’s also willing to work with those who don’t if it means making things better or safer for the greater good. But I was not expecting all that I learned in such a short time. Trust me, you likely weren’t either.
For starters, he’s bossy. Sure, probably knew that going in. But in a way that Sachi didn’t quite anticipate, much less really want. Second, he’s not what he seems. He doesn’t much care about the money. Third, wow is he mad when he thinks he got played!
It’s like all the f-you stars align and add up to something that isn’t the case, but sure looks like it’s feasible. To the point that Moretti men (and a woman) step in to shed light on the impossible truth. And once they set things straight, it’s up to someone to do the big gesture. And maybe a grovel. Trust me, both are more than enough to make up for assumptions and hurt feelings.
Sachi has decided that tonight is the night to do something unexpected. It begins with attending the ball where she is working however when she draws the attention of the wrong man the right man comes to her rescue, and it ends with them spending the night together. The only problem is that he is in law enforcement, and her friends finds themselves on the other side of the law.
Dean is dedicated to this career in law enforcement, but he can’t resist a damsel in distress. It may have started as a way to help Sachi but the connection between them went much deeper and he knows that one night will not be enough however will he feel the same when all is revealed?
The heat between Sachi and Dean is intense and even though they had a little turmoil to overcome his protective nature was the perfect foil to her sassy and strong and fun personality.
This was a quick, fun, and easy read set during the Christmas season.
The story follows Sachi and Dean, who meet at a masquerade ball and share a mind-blowing one-night stand. Dean wants more than just one night, but Sachi holds back because she’s scared of what a relationship could mean.
I loved how the author explored Sachi’s indecision and fear, especially because of her friends. She doesn’t want to be with Dean because she’s afraid of bringing trouble to his doorstep since he’s a cop and her friends are mafia wives. That internal conflict felt realistic and well written.
I really liked Dean’s character. The way the author portrayed his reaction to finally finding Sachi after searching for her felt genuine and emotional.
This is a 4.5-star read, and I definitely recommend it.
Thanks to the author and Hambright PR for this ARC.
This is a quick and spicy read that was unexpectedly funny too! From the banter to the sass to the chemistry, I loved Sachi and Dean together!
I loved the masks and masquerade ball element and their meet-cute made me smile!! But she has ties to the mafia and he’s a detective…that could never work…right?
Sachi is sassy and fun and was just looking for a night where she could be a guest at a party instead of part of the staff…Dean (AKA Mandi-cane…he even has Christmas decorations) is sweet and protective.
I really enjoyed the audio and thought both narrators brought the banter and emotion and of course the steam!
✨ What To Expect: 🎄 Holiday Mafia Novella 👠 Cinderella Story 🎭 Holiday Masquerade Ball 🤫 Secret Identity 💋 One-night stand 👑 Alpha Hero 💰 Billionaire 💢 Jealous/Possessive Hero 🛡️ Law Enforcement
I devoured thi book in one sitting and I was completely hooked from the first page. Sachi was so sweet, fiery, and unapologetically herself, while Dean, the detective, was grumpy, protective, and absolutely obsessed from the moment he saw her. Their chemistry ignited instantly, and the tension between them never let up. I loved how Sachi’s personality and her art were such a big part of the story, and how Dean was willing to cross lines and break rules just to be close to her. The story balanced humor, danger, and heat perfectly, with the mafia backdrop adding excitement but never overpowering the romance. The pacing was perfect. I couldn’t put it down. Thank you so much to the author and Valentine PR for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.
A beautiful Cinderela retelling but make it mafia with a little hidden identity and spice that will make you jingle your bells in this amazing Christmas novella.
This is def the spiciest book of the series so far. Love the cozy atmosphere, the snow, the cookie baking, the Xmas tree. I am obsessed with Christmas and I love reading these holiday themed books so much.
Sachi and Dean are so hot together, she is such a talented sculptor and he is a dreamboat. I want my own detective Dean Malone, thank you very much!
Also, hello??? The filthy mouth on this man? i am UNWELL! I wish the story were longer, could not get enough of it.
Mistletoe Masquerade is the spicy Cinderella retelling I did not know I needed. This story has all the good stuff: a meet-cute at a masquerade ball, secret identities, an alpha MMC, a one night stand neither of them can forget, and some very satisfying groveling.
The chemistry between Sachi and Dean was electric. Their first banter had me hooked, and the steamy scenes brought the perfect level of heat, easily enough to heat up those chilly New York nights.
This was a fun mini read in the Moretti Men series, and I loved seeing the returning characters. It works as a standalone, but the backstory and connections land even better if you have read the first two books.
I love a quick Christmas novella. This one was so good! I loved Sachi and her love for Christmas. She was shy, innocent despite her friends career choice, and so cute. Dean was such a hardened police detective who is attracted to Sachi. These two definitely want each other, but can Dean come to terms her friendship with the mafia? You'll have to read and find out.
