Epic Fantasy, Transmigration, Found Family, Adventure, Comedy, Dragons!
Chapters 281~321 of the web serialisation.
Let it be known that I hate the imperial prince Adin with PASSION!
On the inside, Cale was fuming. Adin, you bastard. You’re trash that doesn’t even deserve to be burned.
I have to say, the Author went berserk in this one. You thought the previous battles were chaotic? Ha! Beware and behold my friend! The war with the Mogor Empire has officially started.
Believe it or not, we've got more world building, more types of "magic", and more information about Cale's, aka Kim Roksu's, previous world. Significant information. I'll be holding my tongue for this one..

Because anything can be a spoiler, here's some safe comedic relief:
Pale-faced, Hilsmann quickly supported Cale as he staggered and collapsed. Cale’s hands were shaking fiercely, and there was blood coming out of his mouth and nose.

Cale hacked up blood uncontrollably. Everyone from the Empire could see it.
These useless Ancient Powers! Damn it!
He wasn’t in pain, nor was he hungry. His body had stabilized almost right away thanks to the Energy of the Heart, but he was still bleeding for some reason.
[...]
“H-how can this be, my lord? Oh, my stars! My goodness! You said you were only going to use a little! My heart is positively ripping into pieces! Rowoon’s hero cannot be seen like this!”
..
“My looooord! I’m about to die of a broken heart! Hic… Th-there’s so much blood! Healer, healer! Where is the healer?!” Hilsmann’s eyes were bloodshot, as if he’d popped a vein. His neck veins bulged as he shouted, red-faced, “Hurry up and call the healer to save my young master, to save the Kingdom of Rowoon’s hero! It’ll be dangerous if he faints again!”

Cale was utterly lost. Has he gone crazy?

He had told Hilsmann to play along and match what he did, but the man seemed to be trying for an award or something as he acted his heart out.

‹Uh, um, human, are you okay? I want to say something too, but I can’t because the vice-captain’s talking so much.›

It was so excessive that the six-year-old dragon struggled to get a word in edgewise.

‹Human, are you okay?› Concerned though Raon was, dragons were vicious. ‹If you feel like you’re going to faint or your body is going to break, just let me know. I’ll destroy everything and take you to the Eastern Continent to loot all the baddies’ safes! I’m warning you!›

Raon huffed a small sigh when he saw how Cale was looking at Hilsmann. ‹Whew, what a relief! My human is looking at the talkative Hilsmann as if he’s pathetic! You must really be okay, human. I’m so glad!›

Web novel chapters: 281-321

This volume covers the battles in Whipper and the Jungle against the Mogor Empire's invasion.

If you have followed my previous reviews, I haven't been too wowed by this series. While there were certainly many parts that I have enjoyed and others that I thought held promise of something down the line after some time building up toward that promise, I wasn't too impressed with many other things and found things that I thought were lacking to the story's detriment. Then we get to the war. The war began at the end of Volume 6 and is still ongoing so far. Volume 7 brought the story into the section I had been waiting for, and Volume 8 kept it running.

Honestly, I had such a great time with this volume. I was engaged with the battle scenes, which I've always found hard to do in novels compared to manga or manhwa. Choi Han needing to fight without his aura seemed like a great short-term challenge for him after his feats in Henituse territory. And the despair nearly overcoming him plays into the darkness he carries with him that hasn't been too delved into in the story so far.

And Mary! One of my greatest criticisms of the series is the lack of character moments or prolonged story arcs that get proper focus in the plot. It's plagued the series for quite a while, but Mary's plotline development is what I've been asking for from the side cast. Things are looking up with the covert op into the Mogor Empire for next volume because it's bringing Saint Jack & Saintess Hana back into the forefront because of revelations this book and for their revenge. As for revelations, those were worked in well to raise the stakes and develop the background of the world, especially Mogor.

What really sold this volume for me was Cale. Cale went off. He never wants the limelight or to put himself forward as the big hero of anything, yet he could not do that this time. I got chills when, despite all his plans, he had to ruin all of them to shut Mogor's plans with the golems and the dead mana down. When he used his new and improved fire Ancient Power and turned the whole sky red, my jaw dropped! Like, Cale??? Holy, he looked like a hero out of the tales of legend--no a god. Cale was the hero this time.

Cale Henituse and his friends are in the Kingdom of the Whipper to help the crazy Tunka face down a seemingly insurmountable army from the Empire. It wouldn’t be so bad…if Cale didn’t have to keep his involvement a secret. But when he discovers just how evil Prince Adin and the alchemists are, Cale must choose between playing them quietly or fighting them head-on.

This volume is a battle-focused story, no question. Almost the entire book is about Cale fighting the Empire in Whipper or the jungle. Despite that, it was still a fun book — except for the parts where you learn about all the awful and inhumane things the Empire has done over the years. Typical of this series, there are some melodramatic moments. That combined with the war-heavy plot dinged the star rating to a 3.5, but the plot moved along enough that it didn’t come across as pure filler.
