Suzanne Giesemann is the author of eleven books, a metaphysical teacher, and an evidential medium. She captivates audiences as she brings hope, healing, and comfort through her work. Suzanne’s gift of communication with those on the other side provides stunning evidence of life after death. Touted as “a breath of fresh air” with “a quality that is so different from others that it is difficult to describe,” she brings messages of hope and love that go straight to the heart.

Suzanne is a retired U.S. Navy Commander. She served as a commanding officer, as special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations, and as Aide to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on 9/11. Today Suzanne addresses questions about the purpose of life, the nature of reality, and attuning to higher consciousness. Her work has been recognized as highly credible by afterlife researcher Dr. Gary Schwartz, Ph.D., and best-selling author Dr. Wayne Dyer. She serves on the executive council of Eternea, where she is the chairman of the Spirituality Leadership Council and is a member of the Advisory Council of the Academy for Spiritual and Consciousness Studies along with such notable leaders as Raymond Moody, M.D., Jean Houston, Ph.D., and Larry Dossey, M.D.

When Suzanne first began researching and writing the Hay House published book, The Priest and the Medium, she never dreamed that she would one day connect with the unseen world herself. After years of meditation, however, she began to have her own intuitive experiences, which led her to several classes on mediumship and to an intensive course at the respected Arthur Findlay College of Psychic Sciences in Stansted, England. Her eye-opening experiences there allowed her to develop her contact with the unseen world to the point where she now gives private readings, connecting people with their loved ones who have passed.

Her experiences with inspirational writing and inspired poetry are published daily on her blog, www.SanayaSays.com. The story of Suzanne’s transition from Navy Commander to her current work as an intuitive counselor is chronicled in her memoir, Messages of Hope, which is featured in a documentary by the same name. Through her personal journey, the author relates how she went from being non-believer to creating her work by allowing natural flow of energy through her. Her story represents many others. A lot of times, it begins with losing someone and then searching for understanding and meaning in it. Thus, this book focuses on mediumship as many people find healing through this practice, and how to make those first steps.

You begin with meditation and setting intention which is important part. Then follow the steps:
B) a few deep breaths
L) lifting vibration by for ex. thinking what you’re grateful for or what makes you happy
E) imagine how your energy field expends
S) shift – trust you’re aligned to higher consciousness
M) merge – invite a nonphysical being to blend their energy field with yours
E) experience – be still, set all expectations aside

You can ask for specific signs to validate the message which you think you’re receiving.

The author relates the technique through many experiences which might be helpful in grasping the technical part which is very small part of this book.

The second half of the book is the dialogue received within her. She used the method explained in part one to receive answers to the topic she picked – forgiveness.

The author details how to trust your insights and higher guidance which are always available. She provides her channeling which gives further guidance how to trust what your own connection to spirit.

Always Connected guidance is informative and presented engagingly. Either you are believer or not, it’s always good to try something new and test it for yourself. The steps are simple to grasp and well-explained.

I really enjoyed the author’s tales about her past and her life in the Navy. This life was serious and practical until losing her step daughter brought spirituality into her life. She needed answers and wanted to know she was ok on the Other Side. Then her spiritual awakening opened her mediumship gifts and introduced her to her guides and a whole new universe of information that not only helped her but allowed her to teach others so that they too could experience their own awakenings and deal with grief in a very loving way.

My only dislike was the parts where she told us the conversations she had with “Joy” ( her word for the Source or God). The dialogue read like it was communicated to her within her frame of reference so that she could understand and learn. It felt specifically tailored to her personally and sometimes came across awkward or unintentionally cringey to me. Since the conversations were supposedly reconstructed from notes, the word for word format also felt hard to fully connect with. I personally felt those messages worked better as part of her own learning experience than as direct teachings for the reader.

Still, outside of those sections, I found the book very engaging and informative. Whether you approach it from a spiritual perspective or simply from a place of curiosity about grief and healing, there’s a lot here that many readers will connect with.

As always, thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
