“Even a slight probability is something we should avoid.”
Kira established a pecking order long ago on The Callistar. She’s the ship’s captain, its leader, and yet she keeps turning over stones that reveal she’s never had all the information she should. And with Watson pressing in the opposite direction, she faces insurrection as an unexpected find challenges even her orders.
Quinn has found what he never knew he needed—a family. Slotting himself into place isn’t easy, especially when he has opposition for the woman he loves. But he’s finding those small moments outweigh even the bigger picture.
Both know you shouldn’t gamble in space because the odds of finding desolation are much higher than salvation. But what happens when it’s up to them to provide the latter?
B. Williams is an American author that writes in several genres. The most prominent are urban fantasy and science fiction.
She prefers to settle in on a rainy day with an open keyboard and some music for noise as she types out her stories. Each one meant to be a world that one can step into and feel the characters and relate to their emotional journey.
When she's not writing, she spends time with her little family and reads to further her own abilities.
I really loved this book! It made me laugh, gasp and even cry a little. We keep following Quinn and Kira while they grow together, and figure things out. The story is easy to follow and is an emotional roller-coaster ride. Not only are we seeing how them and the crew figure things out, they're all also thrown into an unexpected situation which means Kira needs to make a choice as the captain. I really like the suspense mixed with romance, heartwarming moments and adventure.
The story is a little spicy, but also very sweet and lovely. Quinn is absolutely a man I've collected as a bookhusband. I recommend this book to someone who likes found family, suspenseful situations and a couple who makes you get goosebumps.

If you're craving a story that blends high-stakes adventure with heart-melting romance, this book delivers in warp speed. Quinn and Kira’s journey is a dazzling ride through the cosmos—equal parts thrilling, tender, and irresistibly spicy. From the very first page, the emotional intensity grabs you like a tractor beam. Quinn’s quiet strength and Kira’s fiery resilience make them a magnetic duo, and their chemistry crackles against the backdrop of interstellar danger. Whether they’re dodging space pirates or navigating the complexities of love in zero gravity, their bond feels authentic and deeply earned. The world-building is lush and imaginative, with alien landscapes that shimmer and pulse with life. But it’s the emotional terrain—grief, longing, trust—that truly elevates the story. The author doesn’t shy away from vulnerability, and that makes the sweet moments sweeter and the spicy ones sizzle. This isn’t just a space adventure—it’s an escape hatch from reality. So buckle up, grab your favorite blanket, and let Quinn and Kira take you on a journey that’s as exhilarating as it is heartfelt. 🌌 Perfect for fans of romantic sci-fi who want their pulse racing and their heart full.
Kira and Quinn are back and they are not hiding their relationship from anyone. But does Kira really love Quinn if she has yet to say that she does? (You will have to read to find out!) Quinn is also finally settling in as a permanent resident and learning what it means to have an actual family. Not only that, Watson the ever meddling AI is also back and we get to see what he is up to along with the everyone else. I loved how the low stress yet cozy vibes continued over from the last books. Now that the last books have familiarized me with everyone on board this story took me on more of a space adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved being able to board the Callistar again just to hang out with and see what my favorite space crew has been up to. If found family is one of your favorite tropes then you might just love Long Odd’s like I did. This really does feel like a cozy comfort series that I could reread and never want to end!
I absolutely LOVED this!! Getting to see Kira and Quinn's relationship develop further and navigate different things was everything, they are utterly adorable. Unexpected events happening had me hooked and interested to see what was going to happen and now I am desperate for the next book for the rest to unravel. Fantastic read.
I love that this book continued directly from the first one. Also that it had more of a plot than the first book did since that one was more romance based. I was not expecting the main event but I find it super interesting and need to know more ASAP. I also really like the scientific bits. I don’t know if they are right but it sounds right. I adored the continuation of Kira and Quinn’s relationship. It has some more growth due to certain events that happened especially involving Watson. It also has growth quite a bit with some spicy time. I love them. They are so cute. Quinn becoming more enmeshed with the crew and developing his own relationships with them is super interesting. Especially since he is not part of the crew so everyone has to learn how to get along/figure out their relationship structures. The ending wasn’t the greatest. It wasn’t really a cliff hanger but it did leave me wanting more. It did have a happy conclusion and rounded out the story well. I don’t know, I just wasn’t super satisfied. I loved it though and I cannot wait to read the next one. I hope it continues right where it left off.
If General Hospital and Star Trek had a baby, it would be the Callistar Series, and Long Odds: The Callistar 2.0 totally proves it. This book mixes juicy drama with interstellar adventure in a way that’s both fun and addictive. The relationships and conflicts feel as entertaining as the action scenes, and the characters get more complex this time around, which kept me hooked. The tension between Kira and Quinn is so welcomed!!
The worldbuilding is still really strong without being too heavy on technical details, and the story moves at a great pace, though I’ll admit there are a few slower patches where descriptions take over. Some side characters could’ve used a little more love too, but the main cast is where all the sparks and tension really shine.
Overall, it’s a smart, entertaining book that doubles down on everything that makes the series unique: drama, intrigue, and plenty of space-fueled excitement. I’ll definitely be picking up the next one!
This is a good story and excited to see where it goes.
If you’re into sci-fi, Star Trek/Firefly vibes this is a good series!!
There is some crazy inner crew drama that got me irritated with one particular character and once you read it you will know. I do have to wonder if the solution will come back to bite them?
I’m also very intrigued with the newest passenger and where this story is headed!
There is spice but it’s not heavily detailed and it doesn’t get in the way of the actual story which I loved.
If you had the choice to save lives at the risk of your own, would you?
We are back on the ship Callistar and in the POVs of Kira and Quinn. I really enjoyed this book (no shocker), and while it had less external conflicts, there was enough turmoil between crew members to stay entertaining. One crew member I would personally like to deliver a sucker punch to, but you'll have to read to see who. And with the arrival of a new passenger, like the captain, I can't help but feel like there is something more on the horizon.
4.5⭐️ Wow! This book was so good! Continuing to follow Quinn and Kira who I absolutely love them as the main characters! When you get to one point in the book and you want to punch one of the side characters in the face you know that character was written so well!! I can’t wait to see what is coming next on their adventure!
A swoon-worthy sequel to The Retrofit! Quinn’s evolution and the slow burn development of his relationship with Kira will have you giggling and kicking your feet. But let’s not forget the most important part—Watson. Dear Watson. Really good at kissing Watson. That’s what you want to read this book for, let’s be honest 🥵

I love how B. Williams and JJ White weave a story. The fast development just gets deeper in Long Odds. Those we feel in love with in book one are all back with a vengeance.
This was a brilliant addition to Callistars journey. Its no just about their travels but also about the crews own personal development. Very engaging read.
