He’s her boss. She’s too young for him. And lines are about to blur.

Taking a job at the newly opened Wilderness Adventure Park was supposed to be about gaining independence for Addison March. She wasn’t supposed to find her boss so ridiculously good-looking. Or his smile so charming. Or his protectiveness such a freaking turn-on. The problem is, not only does he think he’s too old for her—he also has a past. A past that makes him believe he’s dangerous for Addie to be around. She disagrees. But convincing Noah is proving difficult.

Ex-Marine Noah Hayes has returned home to Amber Ridge not just because he wanted to…because he was forced. Medical discharge. Not physical—mental. Something he hasn’t shared with his loved ones. But leaving the service doesn’t mean his past has left him alone. The nightmares and flashbacks taunt him. And worse, they’ve touched the people around him…specifically, Addie, his newest employee. Ironic, considering she seems to be the only one with the power to soothe him.

For her safety, he needs to stay away from Addie. But when someone starts targeting her, making dangerous threats, Noah’s forced to choose—keep his distance? Or protect her at the risk of exposing Addie to his own demons?

Unchained: A Small Town Age Gap Romantic Suspense is book 5 in the Amber Ridge series by Nyssa Kathrin. Noah Hayes has finally come home to Amber Ridge, not by choice but because of issues that arose from his last mission. Addison March was the new receptionist at the Wilderness Adventure Park, where Noah Hayes and his brother-in-law, Colt, were reopening for the community. Addison March had someone threatening her to leave Amber Ridge. Noah, who had feelings for her, wanted to help but was worried that he would hurt her. Will Noah and Addison work out the issues to fall in love? Readers of Unchained will continue to follow Addison and Noah to discover what happens next.

Unchained is another fantastic addition to this excellent series by Nyssa Kathryn. I enjoyed how Nyssa Kathryn incorporated the issues faced by service personnel during their time in the military. In addition, readers of Unchained will begin to understand the dangers of older people being conned by those seeking their money. Unchained kept me engaged with this series from the first page, so I forgot to do general chores around my home.

I love Nyssa Kathryn's portrayal of her characters and their interactions throughout this book. Unchained is well written and well researched by Nyssa Kathrin. I like Nyssa Kathryn's descriptions of Unchained settings, which help me imagine myself as part of the book's plot.

Thank you to the Author for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for an honest review. I recommend this book.

3.5/5

I can always count on this author to give me a good time palate cleanser, guilty pleasure, read it all in one sitting kind of book. This books tropes are suspense romance with an age gap. Deals with issues such as PTSD.

This story is focused on Noah and Addie. In a standalone universe of small town interconnected romances that all have that suspense aspect. Noah is a retired marine, having to leave service after a horrible incident caused him to have PTSD. Now back home in his small town, he and his best friend decide to open an outdoor adventure park. Who does Noah hire but the young and quirky Addie. They have immediate chemistry but due to Noah’s flashbacks, he’s scared of hurting her so he keeps his distance. But when Addie starts getting scary messages, and those start escalating into sabotage and st@lking. Noah decides there’s no place safe for her then with him. But as the danger increases, Noah doesn’t know if he’s safe for her or potentially a bigger danger to her safety - and her heart.

This was an excellent maze of who, why, what the heck, and who again. Addie and Noah finding each other and finding they aren’t alone when it counts most makes this even more enthralling and only has me wanting the next book NOW.

Noah is going through it. PTSD for certain, issues with finding the right fit for help he truly needs, and a woman he can’t get out of his head. Of course, it doesn’t help that Addie isn’t afraid of anything he says or does, when she should be running the opposite way to avoid his troubles. Or so he thinks. The very real issues around trauma in this book are well-handled and aren’t shying away from just how much PTSD can impact the entire body and mind of a person. It takes some help to convince Noah that sometimes, the person in your corner can make all the difference

As for Addie, I liked her from jump. And I had a few inklings of who or what. And even wondered the why. Some were right, some were wrong, but the ride through the danger to the truth is one that I guarantee you don’t want to miss. And the ride to finding forever with the man who will burn it all down for her? Even better.

Now I look forward to the return of one who isn’t responsible for long ago events, but I can already tell that facts don’t always matter to some. I’m sure it’s going to be quite the adventure.

Suspense isn’t really my cup of tea but I had to read it because my husband and I are on the cover!! It was a quick read and I did figure out who the antagonist was pretty early. However, I don’t typically read suspense so I didn’t think it would be fair to rate it. I’m just excited to display it on my bookshelf!

We are back in Amber Ridge and this time the story belongs to Addison/Addie March and Noah Hayes.
Addie moved to Amber Ridge to work in the new adventure park. She truly is not the adventure type, but loves the town, her new independence and let’s not forget her crush on her new boss, Noah.
Former Marine Noah is back in Amber Ridge not because he wanted to leave his profession, but because he was forced through a medical discharge after a horrendous experience during a mission gone wrong. That doesn’t stop him from being attracted to his new employee, Addie. But she’s too young and due to PTSD, he believes he can be a danger to her.
When someone starts targeting Addie, his protective instincts have him on a place he never wanted to be, does he stay with her to protect her from the danger surrounding her, or does he leave her to someone else to protect her from himself?
The story is filled with twists and turns, as well as danger, hunky good guys and some very evil individuals.
The story was also a reminder of the struggles many military men and women experience upon returning to civilian life . Some injuries are not only physical, but also emotional and psychological ones. We, as individuals and as a nation , must do more for these brave men and women who put their lives in danger in order to protect our nation and those in need.
I thoroughly enjoyed both the written as well as the audiobook versions and truly felt the narrators Avery Caris and Lee Samuels, brought the story to life in the audiobook version.
I was entrusted a copy of the book and audiobook by Publicity Blue Nose. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I am loving this Amber Ridge series so much! We’ve seen Noah’s cousins and sister get their happily ever after, it was time for him to get his.
Noah came back to Amber Ridge with demons in the form of PTSD. This can be a sensitive and difficult topic but I feel like Nyssa handled it with care in her writing. Noah is just trying to get through the day while hiding his struggles but his new employee Addison sees more than most. Addison is so sweet and caring but also so strong. She moved to Amber Ridge to stand on her own two feet and that’s exactly what she did. Falling for her older boss wasn’t in her plan but it’s a connection that can’t be fought. Though Addison is young she handles tough situations in the story with a maturity and grace that many others wouldn’t.
I really enjoyed Noah and Addison’s story and can’t wait to see what’s next in Amber Ridge!

What a great addition to the Amber Ridge series. This is Noah and Addie's story and it will certainly send you on an emotional rollercoaster. Noah is suffering from PTSD and thinks that not only is he too old for Addie but also too dangerous. Addie has moved to Amber Ridge and loves her job, especially being around Noah, their chemistry is electric. When someone starts targeting Addie, Noah's protective instincts come out and he will do anything to keep her safe, although Addie's dad, ex military, taught her well. This book is full of drama, action, heat and a swoon worthy MMC who will melt your heart. The suspense and twists and turns, especially when the truth comes out, will have you on the edge of your seat. As always, an amazing book and they just keep getting better and better. I can't wait to read Bonnie and Zane's story next.

This book tells Noah and Addie’s story, and if you’ve read the end of Indie’s book, you already know that they’re working together at the new wilderness adventure park, with Noah as Addie’s boss. That setup instantly adds a bit of a forbidden romance vibe, especially since there’s also a 13-year age gap between them.

Even though the age gap is mentioned, I didn’t really feel it while reading. It never came across as awkward or uncomfortable, though Noah definitely tried to use it as an excuse to keep Addie at a distance. Of course, that only made things more interesting as their connection grew stronger.

Noah was so selfless, always thinking about Addie and what was best for her. It broke my heart a little that he thought he wasn’t good enough for her, because you could really feel how deeply he cared.

I really enjoyed the suspense of it too. I’m never able to guess who the bad guy is, and as always, I guessed wrong. There were also some really shocking revelations that took me by surprise, which kept me hooked until the end.

One of my favorite parts of the story is Addie herself. Her love for chocolate is such a cute and relatable trait.

After reading a little about Noah and Addie in UNBROKEN, I was so happy to read their story.

Noah really likes Addie, but thinks he’s too old for her. He’s also her boss. In his mind he has a list of reasons why he should stay away from her. Still he can’t help but be drawn to her.

Now she’s in danger and he will do anything to keep her safe.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was full of suspense and kept me guessing.

4.5 stars rounded down. Unchained by Nyssa Kathryn is a 4 star read and a 5 star listen. It’s rare for a book to keep me truly guessing about the villain, but this one absolutely did. The steady stream of red herrings had me hooked, and I tore through the audiobook in just two days.

Coming from a military family, I have a soft spot for military romance, and I really appreciated the thoughtful way the author handled PTSD. Addie and Noah are both compelling, resilient characters who fight for what they believe is right, even when it hurts.

Performed in duet by Avery Caris and Lee Samuels, the narration was spot-on. Their voices fit their characters perfectly.

If you enjoy an age-gap, friends-to-lovers, military romance with an MMC working through trauma and an FMC who refuses to give up on him (even when he pushes her away “for her own good”), I highly recommend giving this one a listen.

Noah and Addie this was a beautiful story. One with lots of twists and turns and pitfalls to overcome but so worth it in the end. Addie is a little Spitfire. She is someone that brings joy and life into Noah’s life. He is your quintessential broody Marine. This guy has ghosts that haunts him on the regular. She has gotten under his skin and he cannot shake her. But they have this banter that is magic. She makes him laugh and he just cannot stay away from her and the feeling is mutual. Watching their friendship grow into this beautiful love story is fantastic. Their relationship is not without its challenges. They struggle with throughout the entire book, but watching them try to work through their struggles and overcome them is so powerful. I’m so happy they got there happily ever after because they absolutely 100% deserve it.

“You are like the sun to my morning.”

Addison March has come to Amber Ridge for a new start. She gets a job working with Noah who is older and her boss. He has PTSD that is effecting his life.

And he stood there, realizing that in the couple of seconds he’d held her, he’d felt more peace than in the entire last year of his life.

The alpha male comes out when Addison is threatened. A whole lot of stalker ish things start happening.

Some shocking revelations rock there world in this fast paced adventure. You don’t want to miss the s one.

WOW!!!! Nyssa continues to blow me away with her INCREDIBLE stories!!! Unchained is packed with thrilling suspense, a heartbreaking storyline involving PTSD, male mental health, shocking twists and a beautiful romance with love and healing! I could not hit pause on this audio as I was constantly on the edge of my seat while also completely captured into the push and pull of their relationship. The way this book all came together was simply OUTSTANDING!! Nyssa has easily become an auto buy author for me this year!

Addie is newer to town and gets a job at the new Wilderness Adventure Park that opens in Amber Ridge. She finds new boss, Noah so attractive but he’s also 13 years older. However, Addie begins to feel like she’s being watched around town. Noah finds out and wants to protect her but he is also struggling with severe PTSD from an incident while he was in the Marines and he has already accidentally put his hands on Addie. Can he stay away? Is someone really watching Addie?

This is book five in the Amber Ridge series but Nyssa makes it so easy to read as a standalone! I don’t want to say too much as this book is outstanding going in blind and watching everything unfold!!! This book is also written in third person BUT I highly recommend the audiobook as the duet narrations brings so much life to this story and transports you right into this town!!!

Military romances are usually hard for me and bring up too many feelings but Nyssa handled this aspect of the story so beautifully!!! My own husband was in therapy after a deployment and it is hard watching them struggle when they get home after what they’ve seen and had to do. While Noah had an much worse experience that caused his PTSD, this topic is not talked enough about and it was perfectly incorporated into this story with so much thought and care!

AUDIO REVIEW:
What an absolute remarkable performance by Avery Caris and Lee Samuels in this audiobook!! They both displayed so much raw emotion and pain in their voices for this story while also showcasing the chemistry between them. The contrast in their light and gruff voices also perfectly showcased their age gap. Avery and Lee breathed life into this story and completely elevated Noah and Addie’s romance!!! Phenomenal!!!

Avery’s bright passionate tone is full of so much feeling and brought out Addie’s lively yet mature personality while also showcasing the compassion in her voice for Noah when he is dealing with things. She also had my heart pounding many times with the way she brings out all that thrilling suspense in her tone that Addie was faced with!

Lee made me absolutely adore Noah even more as I love this man’s voice!! His deep, raspy tone perfectly showcased this older and tough former Marine. Lee also really emphasized the gruffness in his tone when it came to protecting Addie which I loved, but then he also captured the layers of Noah as his softer, emotional tone came out when Noah was dealing with his trauma and PTSD. He truly makes you feel the pain that Noah has been through as you watch his character go through so much growth!

Overall, this audiobook was such a phenomenal performance and perfectly captured the thrill, emotion, healing and love in this story!!! Cannot highly recommend this story enough if you love a romantic suspense story with depth!!

A Stellar Story & Listen🎧 Enthralling & Heartfelt!

Unchained
Amber Ridge, Book 5
By: Nyssa Kathryn
Narrated by: Avery Caris, Lee Samuels

Nyssa Kathryn has outdone herself once again, penning another winning novel, an enthralling romantic suspense that not only captivates your attention the entire time, but tugs at your heartstrings too. After meeting Noah Hayes in the previous book, I knew his story was going to be something special, a former marine returning home with baggage, PTSD, from his time serving and continually battling those inner demons. After his discharge from the Marines, Noah went to Amber Ridge and got the Wilderness Adventure Park up and running. Addison “Addie” March needed to move out of her family home, wanting to be more independent, so she moved to Amber Ridge and got a job at the newly opened park. Addie and Noah take to each other immediately, but not only does working for him make her off limits, but she is younger than him, too. He worries he’s dangerous and a liability, with unpredictable flashbacks, so distances himself, but the problem is she soothes him like no other can. When Addie gets threatening messages, Noah’s protective side comes out, and all he wants to do is keep her safe. Then the threats escalate, putting others in danger as well. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn but so worth the wait romance. The author keeps you on your toes and guessing about who is making the threats and why. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful audiobook production and listen performed by Avery Caris and Lee Samuels, who did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. Their character voices were fitting for a perfect portrayal of each, loving how they took their roles and made them their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined they would sound. Caris was a natural in Addie’s role, grasping all aspects of her personality, including her empathy, and Samuels did the same in Noah’s role and was just as amazing showcasing his personality, including his battle with his inner demons, his vulnerabilities and his fierce protectiveness. These two make a fabulous narration team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that keeps you hooked to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

This is the next book in the Amber Ridge series. It's a standalone, but the couples from other books in the series do make an appearance.

This story centers on Addie and her new boss, Noah. Addie moves to Amber Ridge seeking independence rom her parents, taking a job as a receptionist at the newly opened Wilderness Adventure Park. However, her main focus quickly shifts to her ridiculously good-looking boss, Noah, for whom she develops an undeniable crush.

Noah is a former Marine who was medically discharged after a horrendous mission. He's actively dealing with severe PTSD, which manifests as paralyzing nightmares and flashbacks. Because of this trauma, Noah firmly believes he's too old and too dangerous for the younger Addie. He constantly tries to push her away, convinced that staying near her will only expose her to his personal demons.

There's so much romantic tension between the two, and you can see the chemistry between them. Despite the boss-employee and age-gap dynamic, their connection feels genuine. Addie proves to be much stronger and more self-aware than Noah gives her credit for. She refuses to be easily dismissed, often seeing the true, caring man beneath his tough, broken exterior.

Then the suspense element kicks in. Mysterious and dangerous threats begin targeting Addie, attempting to drive her out of town. This external danger shatters Noah's self-imposed distance. His protective instincts take over completely, forcing him to keep Addie close to ensure her safety.

The book balances their relationship with the high-stakes action of the investigation. Ms Kathryn does an excellent job weaving together the age-gap romance with the intriguing mystery, keeping us guessing the ID and motive of the villain until the final pages.

The plot twist is genuinely surprising—you won't see it coming, which makes the suspense so satisfying.

I'm still a little puzzled as to why Addie's parents were so overprotective, especially as she was only as hour away, it was never really explained after being such a big part of the story.

🎧 I listened to this as an audio book and I love how the characters were brought to life. Avery Caris and Lee Samuels were perfect. The emotion they brought pulled me completely into the story and I was so invested in what happened. I would love to hear these two on another audio book. 🎧

Unchained is the 5th book in the Amber Ridge series by Nyssa Kathryn.

I have been obsessed with everything that Nyssa writes ever since I read her Project Arma series and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of her ARC team since Reckless Hope.

Unchained follows the story of Noah and Addie. Addie has recently moved to town and has started working at the new outdoor wilderness park that Noah and his best mate Colt have opened together.

Despite the age difference between Noah and Addie and with him being her boss, sparks fly and a romance blooms. It doesn’t take long for drama to unfold for our new found couple in the way of Noah’s PTSD rearing its ugly head and for a hateful stalker sending threatening messages to Addie to try and drive her out of town.

With all of Nyssa’s books you more or less know what you are getting when opening the pages of one of her books. A steam worthy romance, OTT protective and possessive MMC, some sort of military or special force MMC, small town romance and relatable characters that make you fall for them every time. With all of Nyssa’s other books, I have usually been pretty close to guessing who the villain of the story may be or what their motives were.

With Unchained I was pleasantly surprised by the plot twist and with what the motive of the villain was. While I was right in guessing who was behind all the drama I would not have guessed why he was trying to drive our dear Addie out of town and going as far as to endangering her life. But our girl Addie is a very smart, strong and self aware FMC who had a dad that was in the military who has taught her how to stand on her own. Or girl Addie gets herself out of harms way with minimal help from our boy Noah, but I’m so glad he was there every step of the way.

The next book is going to focus on Bonnie and Zane, and I am so excited to dive more into Bonnie and her story as she has remained a bit of a mystery the whole series! And I just knew when we were introduced to Zane that he has his own story to tell. The next book can’t come soon enough!

Absolutely loved this book and as always with Nyssa’s books, it was an easy and quick 5 star read! ⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect Blend of Heat, Heart, and Edge-of-Your-Seat Suspense

Unchained by Nyssa Kathryn is the kind of romantic suspense that grabs you by the collar from page one and refuses to let you breathe until the final chapter. This story delivers everything I love in the genre—undeniable chemistry, emotional depth, slow-burn tension, and a suspense plot that keeps tightening its grip.

Addison and Noah are electric together. Kathryn paints their age-gap, boss-employee dynamic with such tenderness and restraint that you feel every suppressed glance, every moment of “we shouldn’t,” and every emotional landmine waiting to go off. Addie is warm, brave, and quietly strong, and Noah is the sort of broken, brooding protector who’ll shatter your heart and stitch it back together in the same chapter. Their connection is both comforting and dangerous in the best possible way.

The portrayal of Noah’s trauma—his nightmares, flashbacks, and the weight of his medical discharge—is handled with empathy and realism. Kathryn never uses his past as a plot device; instead, it becomes the framework of who he is and why Addie’s presence matters so deeply. She’s not his “fixer”—she’s his grounding point, the one person who calms the storm rather than erases it.

And then comes the suspense. As the threats escalate and Addie becomes a target, the tension rises with perfect pacing. Kathryn weaves danger, vulnerability, and romance together without ever dropping a thread. By the time Noah is forced to choose between protecting Addie or protecting her from himself, the emotional stakes are sky-high—and absolutely irresistible.

This book has everything I want in a small-town romantic suspense: a heroine worth rooting for, a protective and wounded hero, sizzling chemistry, a gripping plot, and a love story that feels both fragile and unbreakable.

If you enjoy age-gap tension, ex-military heroes with shadows, brave heroines, and suspense that keeps you guessing, Unchained is a must-read. Nyssa Kathryn absolutely delivers.

Addie and Noah were a perfect pairing.

Welcome back to the Author Nyssa Kathryn's Amber Ridge series where UNCHAINED is the fifth interconnected yet stand-a-lone book. I just loved it and of course it’s a romantic suspense so I'm thinking, seriously, this poor town is suffering from some kind of crime wave!!!

I loved this Noah and Addison's story so very much. Ms Kathryn paired her characters in the best possible way. Addison might have been 13 years younger, but she was absolutely perfect for Noah. His PTSD and flashback episodes didn't scare her because she'd seen her father go through the same mental trauma and I admired that she was so sensible, sensitive and stoic in her support for him. She was so wise beyond her years and I wholeheartedly admired her.

Noah’s mental trauma was horrendous and his ongoing level of anguish was huge. His triggers were not consistent and therapy so far, hadn't worked for him. I think that not all therapists are the same nor are all relatable to everybody was an important message for Noah to hear, and if that resonates with just one of Ms Kathryn's readers, then it's a job well done. That Addison saw beneath that one facet of his life and into the loving, honorable, protective and hard working heart of him was a redemption for him and had me absolutely loving their book. A favourite moment is when I come across a scene from which the title of the book comes from.

I have no idea how Ms Kathryn manages to pull together another romantic suspense from this town and keep everything so fresh. Even with a consistent winning formula, Ms Kathryn still manages to individualise the stories and create an element of suspense surprise which keeps me coming back to her books time and again. Yeap, a very different plotline this time, and I only started to cotton on rather late in the book. UNCHAINED is full of excitement, action and plenty of heat from beginning to end. It’s all here! 5-All-Hot-Action-Stars! 💕 🖤💛

I'm still really enjoying this small town interconnected series; for me, Amber Ridge feels like Cabot Cove but Hallmark coded. Although it is an age gap workplace romance, that isn't the main focus. Instead the plot is about Addie's mysterious stalker and Noah's PTSD. This is a pretty fast burn as these two are magnetic but there are still plenty of obstacles to overcome.

The mystery around how Addie had become a target had me hooked. The who took a minute to click but the why had me guessing and I was genuinely surprised by it. Noah's PTSD recovery was hard earned as although he owned the situation it took him a while to realise isolating himself was not the solution. The flashbacks were really intense and I liked how there was no judgement about his situation and how many characters encouraged him to get help. The found family (although some characters are related) aspect of this series is one of my favourite elements.

This is a duet recording and the performers matched really well. Avery Caris is quickly becoming one of my favourite narrators; she does bright characters brilliantly and fits Addie to a tee. Lee Samuels is a new to me narrator and gave a great performance as Noah going through his mental health journey.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Addie, she grew up in Bozeman, and has the best parents. But she also wishes to be self reliant and so she moves to Amber Ridge. She gets an amazing job at the adventure park, owned by two former marines. One, who catches her interest immediately.

Noah, the Adventure Park has been his distraction. Something to focus on when returning to civilian life. But his last deployment destroyed him emotionally. His nightmares won't go away. He wants peace, and he finds that with Addie, but after mistaking her for an enemy. He wants to stay far away from her.

But when Addie finds herself on the receiving end of endless threats Noah will do everything to protect her.

Unchained is the fourth book in this series and it keeps getting better and really emotional.
I absolutely enjoyed listening to the ALC for this book.

This is what I envision when I think of a romantic suspense novel.

Now, this whole series is perfect if you like suspense, romance, small-town settings, ex-marines, and found family. But this had me sitting at the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading/listening to the audiobook. *(Thank you BNA for the audiobook*)

Amber Ridge book 4 was a tearjerker for me. I absolutely loved their second-chance romance. I honestly didn't think I would find another book more enjoyable than that one in this series. But here comes book 5, and I was wrong! I should have known that because I keep saying that every time I read a new book by Nyssa. They just KEEP GETTING BETTER! But also, I still love all the other ones<3

I was fully invested in Addison, and oh my god, everything that was lurking around! I had so many theories and suspicions, but Nyssa always gives you just enough distraction that you don't fully know what is about to happen! Even if you think you got it, you don't have the full answer.

And Noah... no matter how hard he tried to deny his feelings or thought he couldn't be that man... ugh... he had our girl. And I swooned. I don't want to say any spoilers, but there was a scene where I just knew that he was my favourite of the AR men.

Now - on to the audiobook!

Avery Caris is one of my favourite narrators. She always gets into the roles perfectly. She always sells the character's emotions and really sets the scene up so it's almost like you're there with her. She has a lightness in her voice when she needs to be flirty or whimsical. And she can bring the sass, fear and emotions right out when needed. Amazing talent. And she delivered.

And this was my favourite performance to date for Lee Samuels. I have listened to a lot of his books, and he nailed this. His voice suited Noah. I really felt he got Noah's PTSD, internal battles with Addison, and the charm and protectiveness he had over her as well.

They DID SUCH A GREAT JOB!

I devoured the audio in one night. It's no surprise. I have been like this for the entire series.

𝗜 absolutely devoured this audiobook in no time at all! I was so hooked that I couldn't bring myself to hit pause. 𝗡𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗿𝘆𝗻 truly knows how to spin a romantic suspense plot, and after experiencing this for the first time, I can proudly say I am now a fan of her work. I want more!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 story follows Addie, who works at the Wilderness Adventure Park, and Noah, her handsome older boss who is holding back. Noah, an ex-Marine dealing with PTSD and his mental health, is determined not to harm someone like Addie. Despite the challenges they face, the tension between them is electric. Addie is a straightforward person who goes after what she wants - which happens to be Noah. But as threats loom and danger approaches, secrets are unraveled, leading to unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 cherry on top was the duet narration by 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 and 𝗟𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀. Their delivery truly brought the characters to life, giving the story even more depth and emotion. If you're a fan of romantic suspense and age gap romance, do not hesitate to pick up this audiobook!

Huge thanks to 𝗡𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗿𝘆𝗻 and 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 for this audio copy. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I found Noah and Addison very intriguing when reading about them in the previous book, Unbroken, so I eagerly awaited their story—I was not disappointed!

Noah has a truckload of issues stemming from his military service, and with the age difference between him and Addie, he puts roadblocks in the way of any personal relationship between them. What he didn’t factor in was how he’d react and feel if Addie was in danger.

Addie is a strong determined woman who doesn’t let Noah scare her off. I mean she has to be confident because she bluffed her way into her job—“What had she said in her interview? The outdoors was her second home? H*ll, she might even have thrown in a comment about mountain biking being a weekly Sunday event with her dad. Ha. She’d never been on a mountain bike in her life.” 🤣 She got the job! See determined and confident, even if a little bit off with the truth.

The mystery and suspense are, as usual in Ms Kathryn’s books, very cleverly plotted lots of twists and turns keeping you guessing. Alongside this is the real-life problem of PTSD and how it can affect your everyday life, as well as those around you. How help for one person may come in a different form for some than for others. A truly sensitive topic that is handled exceptionally well.

I can only say that this book is just as good as the previous four and I thoroughly recommend the series.

Another wonderful book in the Amber Ridge series. Full of twists and turns, surprises, humor, emotional turmoil, character growth, family and friendship, danger, and romance.

Noah and Addie have undeniable chemistry and through they are complete opposites, they work. He’s a protector through and through, starting a new business, struggling to deal with his PTSD and his strong attraction to Addie. She’s new to Amber Ridge, breaking away from her family trying to start a new life on her own while her parents constantly pester her to come home. She’s not a fan of the doors yet takes a receptionist job at an adventure park and crushing on her new boss.

As they get closer, danger surrounds Addie and Noah is determined to protect her – even from him and his nightmares. There is a lot of push-pull between the couple with Noah trying to distance himself yet keep close at the same time and Addie refusing the distance between them. His PTSD struggles and desire to protect really tug at the heartstrings and the constant suspense keeps you turning pages to see what’s going to pop up next.

This book has you feeling all the emotions and on edge until the end. Wonderfully written with a storyline that grabs hold and characters to cheer for.

We have returned to Amber Ridge for Addie and Noah’s story. For me this book was a little more cerebral, a lot of head scratching, second guessing, and what the heck!

Noah is a former Marine. Due to his medical discharge, he feels he did not leave his job voluntarily. A mission gone wrong. He is back in Amber Ridge to re-open the adventure park with his brother in law, Colt. Addie has moved to Amber Ridge to work at the adventure park. There is attraction on both sides, between Noah and Addie.

Noah has reservations, age, his PTSD, and the danger he could bring to her. Addie walks towards danger, not running from it. I love her spunk, I mean who take a job at an adventure park. Who takes a job, and not like adventure?

As danger lurks around Addie, Noah become protective, a place where he is not comfortable any longer.

This book kept me guessing the entire time, a hard feat.

I also want to point out the care and grace the author took to write about Noah’s struggles. His emotional, physical, and psychological trauma are well researched and presented as part of the story.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This romantic suspense was just what I needed to get out from reality and lose myself on a great story. As usual I love Nyssa's books. They are my go to if I need to make sure I'll like the book. As she naild it once again.

In this one we follow Addie, after arriving in Amber Ridge, and starting to work in an adventure Park. Does she belong in the wild? Probably not. She is more of a hot chocolate and cozy blankets kind of girl, but she is enjoying her new start.
She has met great people, found friends, and even has her heart beating faster for Noah.
Then things change, mainly when someone is targeting her and she is in danger.
But Addie's life and heart couldn't be in more capable hands than with Noah.
My heart's with Noah. Even if he was damaged and broken (from ptsd), he was one of the best men we could have dreamed of. And it probably made him so more real and relatable. Yes, he was flawed, but that didn’t influence how he was sweet, kind and caring, protective and strong.
As in every suspense's I try to gess the twists and turns. In this one I managed to get some, but not all. And I like being surprised in books.

There's only one book left in this series and I can't wait for it!

Nyssa Kathryn has a another home run on her hands. Unchained is book 5 in the Amber Ridge series, and Noah is front and center. And while he battles nightmares and his own demons about his traumatic experience being a marine, he is falling for Addie. Addie doesn't care that Noah is her boss, or thirteen years older than her, she just knows that Noah is meant to be in her life.

There are some heavy plotlines in this story that Nyssa deals with very, very well. It is abundantly clear to me that she definitely did some research into PTSD and how it can be treated. I love that she showed Noah repeatedly trying different therapists, giving a great example of a strong male character seeking help. It also showed that not every therapist is a great fit for every person. The writing and storyline were both phenomenal. Lovers of romantic suspense, this series is for you.

Now let's chat audio. Lee Samuels and Avery Caris are divine in this duet narration. Avery's youthful voice paired with Lee's deep one really emphasized the age gap for me. Avery really hit all of Addie's emotions with the perfect amount of nuance. Lee was simply outstanding, and I think one of his best performances to date. Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for the chance to listen and review!

Even though book 4, Unbroken (Colt and Indie's story) is still my favorite of this series, Unchained is so close behind it you almost can't tell them apart! Nyssa's writing has so much depth, character development, world building, and twists...together it all puts her in my top three favorite authors, and I NEVER miss out on acquiring her books!

This is Noah (Indie's brother) and Addie's story. I connected with Addison because she is so much like I was at her age. When you're raised by older, very settled parents, you are often mature and wise beyond your years. Noah is disturbed by their 13-year age difference, but Addie isn't fazed at all.

Noah is a former Marine who has come home with a horrendous case of PTSD and survivor's guilt. I won't spoil the rest of his story, but Addie is his perfect complement and brave and mature enough to handle his mental issues.

Of course, Addie acquires a threat to her life and Noah is there to protect her. The cast of potential suspects is rather large and there is also a major surprise near the end. I won't spoil the story, but don't miss this awesome addition to the Amber Ridge series!

A Small Town Age Gap Romantic Suspense is book 5 in the Amber Ridge series by Nyssa Kathryn. Noah Hayes has finally come home to Amber Ridge, not by choice but because of issues (PTSD) that arose from his last mission.
Addison March was the new receptionist at the Wilderness Adventure Park, where Noah Hayes and his brother-in-law, Colt, were reopening for the community. The very real issues around trauma in this book are well-handled and aren’t shying away from just how much PTSD can impact the entire body and mind of a person.
Addison and Noah take to each other immediately, but not only does working for him make her off limits, she is younger than him. He worries he’s dangerous and a liability, with unpredictable flashbacks, so he distances himself, but the problem is she soothes him like no other can
I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balances of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn romance.
Nyssa Kathryn, thank you for another wonderful story
Thank you to the Author for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for an honest review. I recommend this book.
