From Homecoming to Forever: Camille and LaMont

Rate this book
Camille Harmon came to Alniqa University ready to prove herself. Freshman year means freedom, independence, and finally stepping out of her brother’s shadow. The last thing she needs is his best friend trailing her every move just because he was told to “look out for her.”

LaMont Carter may be two years older, but he’s no babysitter. Still, he can’t seem to stay away from Camille—her quick comebacks, her determination, the way she’s blossoming on campus. From late-night study sessions to Homecoming traditions, their paths keep crossing…and the lines keep blurring.

When a kiss at the football game changes everything, Camille knows she’s not the little girl LaMont once teased. She’s grown, she knows what she wants, and she’s ready to claim it—even if it means challenging her brother, campus gossip, and every rule about who she’s “supposed” to be with.

From Homecoming to Forever is a warm, flirty HBCU romance about finding your voice, taking your shot, and falling for the one who was right there all along.

Amazing read!

“From Homecoming to Forever: Camille and LaMont” by Nina High was such a refreshing breath of fresh air. I absolutely loved their story. In a world full of books that jump straight into spice, it felt so good to read a romance that brings back the sweetness, the butterflies, and the real process of two young Black college students actually dating and growing together.

Whether you’re a fan of friends-to-lovers, the brother’s-best-friend trope, or just a well-paced love story, this book delivers. Camille and LaMont’s relationship felt intentional and genuine. They communicated, they had real conflict, and—most importantly—they actually resolved it. Nothing felt rushed or forced. It reminded me of how it felt to navigate love in college: messy, hopeful, exciting, and full of possibility.

Reading their journey honestly made me miss my own college days. Nina High captured that era so well—the energy, the self-discovery, the way love hits a little harder when you’re young and still figuring out life. Camille and LaMont truly felt like a couple you can root for from beginning to end.

A beautiful, heartfelt read. I loved every second.

Wholesome

This was a very quick and easy read. Camille had a crush on her brother’s best friend. That’s a trope that I enjoy. It was sweet that LaMont wanted to take his time and court her. They both were hesitant to express their true feelings. I was glad when they finally talked things out.

From Homecoming to Forever: Camille and LaMont is a very cute and cozy romance story with a semi-forbidden love trope. Nina High is a good storyteller and this one kept me engaged from beginning to end. I definitely recommend this one for a palette cleanser or if you just enjoy short stories.

cute for YA!

I loved this small short of a love story! Very straight to the point, no angst, and a good palate cleanser. No spice no passion scene but with Nina, you don’t need it. Loved me some Lamont ❤️

Crush Times Two

Camille and Lamont grew up together. Being her brother’s best friend, Lamont had feelings from his a distance. Opportunity knocked for them to get to know each other. Nice cute story of feelings blossoming.

ok, I like you.

Camille and LaMont were cute. Both timid in owning how they felt about each other. I wonder what happens next.

This novella was such a cute, feel good read. Nothing wild or dramatic just a college romance blooming between two childhood friends who finally lean in to their feelings. Camille stepping into her own and LaMont acknowledging her growth, her confidence and her spark… it was the perfect little smile inducing story. A quick read that makes you go “awww” more than once.
