Yogi Bhajan is a "truth impressionist." Some of the things he says and writes, taken out of context, sound crazy or really far out there. But taken as a whole, you get something that makes total sense--and no-nonsense, too.

He takes that no-nonsense approach to the chakras in this book, and it's really refreshing. I've read a lot of great books on the chakras, including those by Anodea Judith. They're all very compassionate and bring the reader along on a journey to slowly, mindfully achieve balance. Practices for chakra balancing are gently recommended. Yogi Bhajan simply says, "Go do this and be healed. Or don't, but then you're just kidding yourself." It's such a relief to have a teacher like him on my shelf. I appreciate the tender, compassionate ones, but sometimes you need a teacher who doesn't put up with your excuses.
