Such a great shifter story and I appreciated that it was a clean read. This is a new author for me. I previously read a prequel to this story which introduced the characters. I will definitely be looking for whats next from her.

Maya Ortiz and her mom have moved around a lot and she has learned how to stay invisible in the new schools she has attended. When her mom decides to move them back to the hometown she grew up in, Maya plans to keep her plan of staying invisible. She never planned on gaining the attention of Bolton
Sharpe who is a popular guy in school. His family is very powerful in their town.

Maya has no idea that Bolton is the son of the Alpha leader of the pack of wolves that live in Stone Mountain. As soon as Bolton came into contact with Maya, he immediately knew she was his mate. He can see she has no idea about wolf shifters or fated mates so he will have to slowly help her understand. He invites her to the bonfire under the full moon where she will be exposed to the things her mother has been keeping from her.

As the fated mate of Bolton, Maya will be forced to prove herself as a jealous pack member challenges her. This girl believes she was the one that should be the mate of Bolton the heir to the Alpha. Will Maya be able to meet the challenge since she is a human or will secrets from her past reveal she is something more?.

DNF!! Besides the horrible lack of editing, there was no build up of a relationship between the main characters and the villain was such a stupid conflict. Couldn’t finish it because it was so, so, bad.

Well...

I would bet good money most of this was written by AI. Which I don’t necessarily mind. However, if you do it you have to go through with a fine tooth comb and fix all the things AI messes up on, not to mention give it your own voice. I don't believe the author did that. DNFed half way through, couldn't get over all the issues.

This book started off so great. The first chapters were very good. However, I feel like I got duped into a second date after they were over.

I may be reaching but the writing in the first chapters and remaining chapters are VERY different from each other. Almost like they were prompted.

I'll never accuse anyone with undue reason though, so let me focus on other things that were frustrating. The pacing was so unpredictable. Issues resolved in the drop of a hat and conflict with absolutely no tension.

There were things like when the FMC's mom told her she was a human Luna and then in the next page, the daughter is explaining to her mom what a Luna is??? It just doesnt make sense. I'm so dissapointed because the story started SO well. That's truly the only reason I'm leaving such a review. The characters and the world felt rich and in-depth. The voices of characters were distinct.

And then...well to phrase how the book probably would: It's not like the tone shifted. It changed. Like a rock falling from the gravity of hopes dashed. Turned into something easy. Prompted. And now that I've seen it, I can never unsee it again. Because this wasn't just a bad experience. It was dissapointing as h*ll.

I believe in you author. Believe in yourself.

Really enjoyed this YA shifter story.

The story centers around Maya, who returns to Stone Mountain with her mother. But little does she know that it isn't the homecoming she is hoping for. All she wants is to fit in, have a quiet life but when the high school's beau catches her sent, her world suddenly shifts and she is confronted with a past her mother has tried to protect and shield her from. Only thing, secrets usually don't stay buried-at least not for long. So Maya needs to decide if she wants to know those secrets and accept the life altering changes that come with it or not.

Lucky for us readers, Maya doesn't shy away from hidden truths 😉 and we follow her along while she finds out who she really is and what her place in the world is.

The author wrote a lovely story about fitting in and finding yourself. Her characters are well rounded and you'll feel for them all in their own way (yes, even Cassie).

If you are looking for a clean YA shifter novel to read in a day, this is your book. And the best thing? There is more to come.

A bit disjointed but the bones of the story are good.

This felt like a really good rough draft. I think if it was a bit longer and all the pieces/ideas were flushed out a bit, this would be a really good book. It just felt a little disjointed, with some inconsistencies in the characters and plot. There were parts that were really interesting but never followed up on and parts that were inserted at the end that I liked but they weren’t really built up to so they felt almost random. Overall a good story, just needed to be a little more cohesive.

Great "Clean" YA Shifter Romance

A really good story, mean girl/wolfshifter versus new untested girl and lots of High School drama. Unknown strength of character, a fierce need to protect. A mystery unfolds.

ok

The potential for more was there but missing romance. The opportunity for feelings were skipped and it almost felt like a check list. They meet / they bond / they overcome adversity/. All without emotion.

3 stars because it was a quick enough book I could distract myself from the 3 other books I’m reading.
