The Recognition: Silencing the Secret Companion of Self-Loathing

Rate this book
Confident, capable Noel seems to have it all together—until love challenges her in ways she never expected. When she begins to fall for John, her inner critic awakens with a vengeance, unraveling her sense of self and leaving him in the dark.

Steve, John’s closest friend, has always been the reliable one—the listener, the steady presence when things fall apart. He’s always there for everyone else. Yet, Steve soon finds himself pulled into a journey of his own—one that forces him to confront truths he's long kept buried.

Friends, Jan and Holly, couldn’t be more different—on the surface, at least. One leans on her beauty, the other on higher education. But beneath their contrasting exteriors lies a shared, invisible the quiet ache of self-loathing. It's a shadow no one else can see, but one that shapes the choices they make.

Through faith in God and wise counsel, Noel and her four friends begin to confront the subtle but powerful force of self-loathing that threatens to undo them from within.

The Silencing the Secret Companion of Self-Loathing is the compelling first installment in a transformative new series that blends heartfelt storytelling with psychological depth and biblical truth. More than just an engaging novella, it's a journey of self-discovery, spiritual awakening, and the courage it takes to silence shame and embrace the truth of who we are.

Perfect for readers seeking authenticity, emotional depth, and hope, this book invites you to walk alongside five friends as they wrestle with the lies they’ve believed—and begin to uncover the freedom that comes with knowing they are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved.

When I read the title I was expecting more of a self help book. Five friends, some of them are couple for a short season, then things change. Some self doubt, some jealousy and eventually several changes. This book was a quick read that I won in a Goodreads giveaway.

I liked the Christian elements, and how all the characters connected but i feel like it could be longer.
