It's a word for word copy of every other book like this. Neverending, I'm sure. Book one of one FOR NOW. We'll probably never live to see the resolution as they add book after book after book to this likely neverending series.
Overall, this is junk food reading. It's definitely not high class literature. Sometimes we need junk food reading, and that's ok.
That said, I've seen mentioned on Amazon that this is basically a rip off of all the other versions of this story (which was a webnovel that's been machine translated many times), not an original story, and that feels very accurate based on the content, story flow and characterizations. I'm certain you can dig around and find machine translation copies of this story outside of the "sale" copy and their post dates will show they existed long before the "sale" copy. That said, I read this through Amazon Kindle Unlimited, so at least it was in a more controlled reading format than some of the machine translation sites out there.
Since I'm calling out that this is clearly a copied Machine translation story, I'll break down what that means for reading quality: - Chapters 1 and 2 are essentially the same (clearly Chapter 1 was the preview chapter for the original webnovel site) - A chunk of plot/story line is missing between Chapters 42 and 43, - Repeatedly, there's phrases like "over the years" when years could not have passed at all. - Complete lack of time discussion, in that the writing keeps implying that time is passing without actually saying any time is passed, so all of this could be 3 weeks or 5 years and as a reader it makes no sense. - Obvious instances where a Machine Translation Post-Editing step did not occur, such as "Hello Citrine" "You can call me Citrine" when it's clear the first name should've been a surname, and other things like bad adjective use like someone saying something super high level vague and it being described as "precision", that's not what that word means, lol. Honestly, there are too many examples to share them all, but anyone who reads MT web novels will notice the hallmark clues of a skipped MTPE step.
Would I recommend this? Only if you like web novels like this. Will I keep reading? Probably, there's a reason I called it junk food.
While I really love the whole rebirth revenge romance genre, I can rarely find American contemporary stories.
Although reading many English-as-a-second-or-third-language books in this genre has been very satisfying, I believe this is the first one I’ve read that is closest to true contemporary USA culture.
Citrine is interesting. The story follows similar plots, but Citrine is a nice twist. I like that she isn't overly vengeful, and has kept true to her initial character. I wish she would allow Raymond closer. Her 'grandfather' needs more time with her, and I don't mean Weston.
The more I read this story the more confused I am. I think the story was written by AI or by a non English speaker. Some of the contexts are unclear, hazy or even incorrect? I was hoping for something awesome and ended up with drama. The whole rebirth trope has so many chances of being written brilliantly and I feel like this was a missed opportunity.
