She was a widow with a crown of ruin. He was the monster who killed her king. Together, Zina and Emiliano ignite a love built on obsession, betrayal, and blood.
Zina The King lies cold in the ground. His crown rests heavily on my head. His sons sharpen blades, whispering my name as the traitor. To protect them, I say yes to the one man I should never trust. Emiliano Maritz. Older. Ruthless. Obsessed. His lips brand me. His eyes strip me bare. His touch ruins me. I should hate him. I do hate him. But hate doesn’t stop my pulse from racing. Or my body from craving his.
Emiliano Zina Rivas is no widow. She is my Queen. She trembles when I touch her—not from fear, from want. Her defiance fuels me. Her hunger feeds me. She calls me a monster. Murderer. Enemy. Let her. Because when she falls—and she will— She’ll fall straight into my arms. And she’ll never escape me again.
Queen is the second book in the Shattered Pieces Mafia Romance Series—a dark, full-length novel of obsession, betrayal, and unrelenting passion. There’s no cheating. No mercy. Only the twisted love story of Zina and Emiliano, bound by blood, lies, and a crown forged in ruin ---with scorching heat, devastating twists, and an undeniable HEA.

✦ 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 - • dark mafia romance • enemies to lovers • widow heroine • age gap • forced alliance • power & obsession
✦ 𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 - This book follows Zina Rivas, a widow who suddenly finds herself holding power after her husband’s death. She is surrounded by danger and betrayal, and the only way to protect herself is by joining hands with Emiliano Maritz. He is older, ruthless and carries a dangerous obsession for her. What starts as hate slowly turns into something intense and complicated. The concept was really interesting and I liked the mafia tension mixed with obsession vibes. The writing had its strong moments but sometimes I felt the pace was a little uneven. The chemistry was there but I wanted more depth between the characters. It kept me hooked but didn’t fully blow me away. Overall, a decent dark mafia read with a gripping setup but not my absolute favorite. Thank you so much book sirens for the free ARC!
This story occurs after the events of King, where Zina’s husband Giovanni is unalived. Power struggles, threats and betrayal surround her, and the only way to survive is to strike a bargain with Emiliano for her protection. Unfortunately, it turns out, he’s the one who arranged for her husband’s unaliving, and a wee bit obsessed with her.
There a a lot of twists and turns, and it ends on a cliffhanger. I wouldn’t rate it as a HFN in any way, shape or form.
I’m not sure how I feel about this book - it’s engaging, and I enjoyed the tension, but something was missing. Maybe, it’s just the way the story ended, but it just felt a little flat.
I mean, when King finished, I was feeling all sorts of emotions - shock, anger, more shock. But this ending just felt rushed, and flat, and was more of a platform for the next book.

"Queen" by Hannah Rio completely swept me away! From the very first chapter, I was hooked by the powerful characters and the intense emotions woven through every page. The writing is vivid and fast-paced, keeping me on the edge of my seat while still letting me connect deeply with the characters.
I loved the way Hannah Rio blends drama, intrigue, and romance — it felt fresh and original while still giving me everything I want from a great read. There were moments that made me gasp, smile, and even reread a line just to savor it again. By the end, I didn’t want to put it down and immediately wished there was more to read.
If you enjoy books with strong heroines, unexpected twists, and a story that pulls you in and doesn’t let go, "Queen" is an absolute must-read!
Never Mess With a Mama Bear - OMG! I really don’t know how to describe the differing emotions I went through whilst reading this book. The heroine in the story had been used by two mafia heads as a chess piece whilst dominating and terrorising her, which she just accepted. However, when they set their eyes on her son, she showed them what it meant to be a mama bear.
The heroine’s ferocity rivalled the men in the mafia when it came to her son’s safety, and she's willing put her life on the line to protect not only herself but her son too. By the time you finish reading the book, you will have a girl crush on her. This is a definite must read book, that you won’t be disappointed to read. Bravo Hannah Rio, you have definitely exceeded my expectations again.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "QUEEN" This story grabs you from the start so full of intrigue, emotional drama, danger, violence, betrayal, twists, steamy scenes, you won't be able to out down. Zina Rivas is widowed after her husband Giovanni dies, she's been threatened & Emiliano Maritz was his brother who killed him to protect her, is older, ruthless & obsessed with her, he makes her his Queen making enemies come to close. Santino is Giovanni's son looking to take them down, Emiliano is hoping Zina will come to terms for her feelings to admit she loves him. Will Zina & her son Guido & Emiliano get a HEA theres so many twists, will they survive another war Santino planning, its a must to see what happens the cliffhanger leaves you wanting the next book asap.
Zina’s husband died, she initially romanticized his memory. After shocking events occur, she evolves—becoming… more. Emiliano is devoted to Zina—he would do anything for her. Together, they are quite a force to reckon with. They face many enemies, enemies from within, heartbreak, and betrayal. That cliffhanger is big. Ugh.

I understand this is book 2 of a series. I have not read book one, but I purchased it after reading this action-packed mafia war story. After her husband’s death, Zina was crowned a queen by her protector. Her husband’s son, Santino, wants her and her son, Guido, dead. Santino thinks the title of King belongs to him by birthright. After being attacked, her son was always being targeted, Zina learned she couldn't stay. She buried her crown for her son to one day retrieve. She walked away (for now).

Zina was a widow who lost her king and had to marry Emiliano to save her son Guido. She hated Emiliano for killing Giovanni. What I learned in this book is that both men grew up in the streets, and one was the head of the table, the other was an enforcer. The only thing they had in common was Zina, who was seen as property. First, she was treated as a possession by her husband. She rose as a queen from the ashes after being attacked, and her son was always getting attacked. She understood she couldn't stay; her son would always be in danger, and she walked away.
This is a mafia queen. Strong, resilient, smart, and willing to do what needs to be done to survive. I love her defiant attitude and want to be treated as a queen and not a side piece. Her demeanor of power no matter the circumstances. And who doesn’t want an obsessive man that wants to make her his queen. He just also wants to prove she should have always been his. And the power hungry stepsons add to this intriguing dynamic. I couldn’t put this book down. Such a good read. It makes it better to read King first, but you understand the main parts just fine if you jump straight into this book.
So it doesn’t follow the same pattern I expected. The brothers are out for revenge. I thought when the King was gone, the Queen would reign. If you thought this was going to be a fairy tale, you will be disappointed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Everything shapes up at the beginning. Instead of starting from the funeral, it seems to go back in time. Stick with it to see the ending. HEA still loading!
Emiliano and Zina had me all caught up in this mafia tale. In order to save her son, she marries Emiliano who has a love/obsession for her. It is a story centered around betrayal, danger and obsession and the twists and turns that it takes had me on the edge of my seat to see how it all comes together in the end.

After the unaliving of her late husband Giovanni. Zina being blackmailed by an ex lover Emiliano who is absolutely obsessed with her and was the one who had Giovanni killed.
This was over all a very quick and entertaining read. It was dark, fast paced and compelling.
I do find Zinas character unlikable. From book one to now. I had a hard time emphasizing with her. Her character has been through a lot but honestly… iykyk

I'm giving this book 3 stars. I really enjoyed the first book. But that ending left me on a cliffhanger and the 2nd book was confusing. And never gave clarity on the first books ending.
Maybe it was me but I kept getting lost as to what and who I was reading about. It just seemed to be kinda all over the place. I see there will be 4 more books in the series. Maybe those will tie things together.
Queen is dark, addictive, and dripping with tension from page one. Zina and Emiliano’s dynamic is pure fire, violent, obsessive, magnetic, and emotionally charged in the best messy mafia romance way. Every chapter pushes their love–hate spiral deeper, blending betrayal, danger, and raw chemistry. If you love power struggles, sharp emotions, and a relationship that feels like a battlefield and a confession booth at the same time, this book hits the mark.
Allow two days (or an extremely long one) for this DARK, steamy. twisted, contemporary, midlife, second-chance, enemies-to-lovers, BDSM, age-gap, mafia coup romantic thriller in Italy featuring a queen, enemies, a bride, obsession, betrayal, a broken family, a marriage-of-convenience, murder, PTSD, rescues, violence, and war.

Wow oh wow I have been waiting for this story for a while, this story is fast and so well planned. It really is a great mafia story I waited to see what Zina was going to do next to survive. The spice and love hate in this book are on point as well. Always love read this authors books I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Zina was a queen of disaster, Emiliano loved her. She has a stepson that wants her destroyed and her son. Santino believe his father was murdered because of her. This book has many twists and turns, betrayal, blood, love and heartache. If you like book one you will also like book two.
WOW!! Addictive intense story that pulled me in in the first chapter, and never let me go. This book was detailed, exciting, very well written. Multi layered characters. Just the right amount of danger, drama, and suspenseful scenes. Main character’s relationship was unique, the pole between them was intense. Definitely enjoyed reading this book!
I think you should read this series in order. I did not read King first and felt a little lost reading about the relationship between Zina and Emiliano. There is a lot of tension, murder, and complete mayhem between Zina and her stepsons. Zina’s son Guido, is caught in the middle of all this family drama and suffers for just being alive.
A continuation of King, Queen picks up shortly after. Lots more info comes into play in this installment. I loved Emiliano and Zona's dynamic. When we finally got the origins of the two of them it was eye opening. But I feel like we're still missing parts of their background. Hoping more to come in the series. The second book in the Shattered Pieces Mafia Romance Series is the twisted love story of Zina and Emiliano. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. The action, suspense and unexpected twists kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend reading and look forward to reading the next book.

Ok. This was pretty good. I need to go back and read King. And now I need the next book. I gotta know what happens next. Does the queen get her king or not? It had some spicy scenes and lots of blood.

This was a riveting second book in this series. The characters are adapting and becoming who they are meant to be. This author just has a way with words that has me hooked. I cannot wait for the next in this series.
Dark romance, mafia, enimies to lovers, age gap, and more... This book had secrets, betrayal, drama, emotional moments, obsession, and danger. I did enjoy how the relationships between Zina and Emiliano evolved. Overall, I did enjoy it.
