When Tom and Elenna encounter Malvel while searching for the armor that he stole, they learn that the wizard has unleashed a new wave of evil beasts against Avantia, and set off to face the first of these, the mysterious Zepha.
Adam Blade is the house name for the Working Partners Ltd. ghostwriters who write the Beast Quest and Sea Quest series.
Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father’s paintings of historic English battles – which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father’s office. Adam’s father said they were a Blade family heirloom.
As a boy, Adam would spend days imagining who could have first owned the sword and shield. Eventually, he created a character – Tom, the bravest boy warrior of them all. The idea for Beast Quest was born.
When Adam grew up and decided that he wanted to be a writer, he was stuck for ideas – until he remembered the old sword and shield, and the imaginary boy he had created when he was young. Adam decided to bring Tom fully to life so that readers could go on the kind of adventures that he always wanted to when he was that age… And still does, even though he’s grown up!
When he’s not writing Beast Quest books, Adam enjoys visiting museums and ancient battle sites. His main hobbies are fencing and football. He also spends a lot of time at home running around after his two exotic pets – a tarantula named Ziggy, and a capuchin monkey named Omar. These little rascals were the inspiration for two of the Beasts that Tom faces on his Quest – Arachnid and Claw.
Sadly, Adam does not have his own Fire-Dragon or Horse-Man. But he really wishes he did!
I learned from this book that you don't need weapons to fight a giant squid, you can use your wits too. The wits are your brain and in this book and the series that are behind it, Tom is on an adventure and in the first book "Ferno the Fire Dragon" Tom finds this girl Elenna with a wolf. Her Wolf is named Silver. Oh did I forget to mention that Tom had a horse that he rode? The horse's name was Storm.
this is about a boy who travels around the continent to collect peices of armour to beat the evil wizard and along the way the wizard trys to stop hime with evil monsters.
I did not like this book because I do not like monster squids. I enjoyed this book because I liked the part when Sepron helped Tom and defeated Zepha, the monster squid.
The Beast Quest Series is interesting, but it is repetitive and after a few books you sort of know what's going to happen next. I find the book very simple and a easy reader for kids. I think it is very descriptive but I will only give it a 3.
Book seven in the Beast Quest series. My 7 yr old is reading these out of order but maybe that is how they are showing up at the library. A young boy and girl are on a quest to find a set of lost hero armour. Hint: There's a big fight with a squid at the end....;-)
zepha is a very good book but tom is very close to failing his quest but one of the good beasts of avantia helps tom to defeat zepha can you guess who?
I must say... I am very impressed with this first book in 'The Golden Armor'. It was a near perfect beginning and that's why it deserved the 5 stars that I've given it.
This book was filled with magic and uncertainty. Because each book is so important for understanding and conclusion this book did not fail on creating a suspenseful bride to the next book.
За беда в нощта на тържеството бронята бива открадната от ято прилепи, които служат на Малвел – злият магьосник е все още жив и планира страшно отмъщение... it was so good! such a great first book in this secondary series!
i loved the squid, and i loved the reappearance of one of the original beasts. i think that was a great way to show how the beast are supposed to behave when they’re not under an evil spell.
i also appreciate the end. it wasn’t just the same “good job tom, anywho here’s your next task.”
loved it. i can’t wait to read the next 5 books in beast quest part 2.
Having accomplished his first Beast Quest (Bk 1-6), Tom was supposed to receive a marvelous suit of armor as his reward. But before the king can bestow it, it's stolen, and the pieces are scattered. Tom must now gather the pieces, a task made difficult by a whole new set of Beasts he will have to conquer. Beginning with the titular squid.
So much dumb. As someone that loves a wetland, this book annoyed me more than the others. It's evil, if course. Snakes and leeches should be killed in sight. Oh, and the girl needs rescuing, again. Though. She does bust out some cool archer skills... just not on the Beast. Would it be too much for her to say "WE did it!" instead of "YOU did it!"? I need s better series. Fast.
The Beast Quest stories are a series of books that I am reading to my children at night. They are not particularly well written, or anything special. However, they are easy to read and contain short chapters well suited to reading before they go to sleep. Also, as there are a series of them it is nice to collect and always good to have a continued set of characters to follow.
Son Holden (5) has caught onto the formula but is still enjoying the series. He keeps interrupting our reads with "Here's what I would do...," usually complete with swinging arms and sound effects.
Tom knows something isn’t right and soon the celebration turns to a new adventure. This time Elena has a stronger role, and there is more at stake. More great adventures to read to the boy.
Pretty good. I enjoyed it even if these books are very short. My only issue was one part of the ending that confused of how Tom found what he needed. Besides that, it was pretty good!
