Violet Hamers knew from an early age that writing was something she always wanted to do. Growing up, her time was divided between writing stories and taking part in theatrical plays, that she used to perform exclusively for her family and friends.
As she loves reading and writing, she is rarely found without a book in her hands, or her fingers glued to a keyboard. Her love for reading led her to Jane Austen's world--the regency historical world that won her over in comparison to any other genre!
Even though being an author is not a simple task, her dream of becoming one has finally come true as she is currently writing Regency novels...romances her readers will love!
Follow Violet into a world of romance and fairytale, of passion and intrigue, and live unforgettable happy-ever-afters along with her protagonists that she guarantees you will remember forever.
This is much more a standard Regency romance that I've read in some time. There's the orphaned heroine, dependent on the lecherous uncle and jealous cousin, the newly minted duke with damage, and the perilous world awaiting our virginal and desperate heroine.
The icky uncle is particularly unpleasant even though he isn't on stage much. The passive-aggressive cousin with her damaged but needlessly vindictive manners doesn't make all that much sense when it comes to her motivations. She's more of a plot device than anything.
The MMC is more interesting even as he's built from a pretty standard template. He spends years searching for the heroine after a single chance meeting and night together, convinced she's The One. He doesn't possess that basic cruelty that many high class dudes get labeled with in a Regency. There's more to him.
The FMC is also sort of standard, but she's endearing in that she truly works very hard to get and stay on her feet. She accepts the cousin's many casual cruelties but draws the line at times. Not enough.
The plot is as you would expect in a Regency. The couple meet, part, there's a pursuit and capitulation, a danger appears and is vanquished, and the HEA feels nice.
As for the spice, I wouldn't give it more than 1/2 a 🌶 at best. But that's probably because I'm more of a Scarlett Scott fan or other authors who write more explicitly.
I enjoyed this story. Duke Graham met Joan when she was running away from an abusive uncle. They spent one night together but Joan ran away the next morning. Graham searched for her for five years, without knowing they now had a daughter. When he eventually found her, he was delighted to meet his daughter, Sophia, and he married Joan quickly. Joan took a while to realise that he did love her and not just his daughter. When Sophia was kidnapped and Joan was threatened, Graham proved his love when he rescued them. Will Joan realise how much he loves her? Read on and enjoy.
This one was okay. Again I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it either. Writing was well done, I do notice that with this authors books, the writing is always well done, it’s easy to follow and don’t have a hard time understanding anything. However, I will say that for the most part, this is a insta-love type of stories and that by the 25% mar, they’re already together. The rest of the story is them being a married couple and raising their daughter. Not my cup of tea but it was nice seeing the fmc accepting the love and becoming comfortable and accepting of the relationship and how the mmc cares for her.
I feel in love with Graham. He's a man who is not afraid of what others say and is going to live his life on his own terms. He runs into Joan one night and their chemistry is on! They share a night together and this leads to him searching for her for five years! Joan is caught up in her own hell that Graham helps her to overcome. They reunite five years later and with a child from that night. Graham patiently pursued Joan and helps her to learn how to love. Couldn't wait to read each chapter! Wonderfully written!
Joan caught in the grasp of a perverted uncle struggles to escape his grasp. In her escape to freedom she meets the only man she has ever trusted. Graham as well feels a closeness he has never felt for another woman….in the blink of an eye she disappears from his life. This book has a lot of insight as to how abusive relationships and childhood trauma can destroy one’s self esteem. Absolutely a wonderful book. I highly recommend this read!
This is a good story about Graham and Joan They had one night at an inn and he searched for her She is found five years later and he learns her child is his They marry but it is hard for her to trust but in the end they have love happiness and family well written
This was a good and thought provoking book that deals tactfully with the issue of sexual abuse. The characters were strong and appealing. Joan's journey through the emotions resulting from her uncle's obsession were realistic. The book does contain an excessive number of typos and requires some editing.
Duke Graham has had many surprises but one has eluded him & he continues his search going on 5 Years. And when everyone has just about given up he runs into her himself..and explanations for a child Too. But deceitful people are about & it doesn’t take long to put a plan into action. But love is powerfully strong when shared…!
Not a book for me. I was quite excited from its ranking. About 57% of the way through, I could no longer get past the main character's fear and self-doubt in her own worthiness. Drama finally picked up about 75% of the way in, but by then, it had lost me. Quite a few spelling errors that I caught. Won't try this author again.
Graham meets Joan before he becomes a duke and spends years looking for her as he has fallen in love with het as soon as he met her wonderful written with her family being brought into the story
This is a story about love not only for another but also finding it for yourself. Very enjoyable read. Understanding your own self worth for yourself not just for others and to understand others are willing to wait for you.
Beautiful story and well written. Loved the portrayal of Graham - an honest, open and intelligent man who treated women as his equals. His love of family was unparalleled.
