Clara Strong has finally found her way into the FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit at Quantico, where she continues to carry the burden of an eighteen year unsolved case involving her brother. But her personal mission collides with a chilling serial killer case on her first day. The killer's victims are couples, preyed upon and left in a manner that hints at something darker than anyone can understand. The clue's to the case seem to be dead ends, designed to throw Clara and her new colleagues off the trail. In a world where trust is a deadly illusion, Agent Clara Strong must help unravel the Killer's twisted mind, while battling her own thoughts on how to investigate Grayson's disappearance with the new information she has received.
I don't quite know how she manages to do it, but this is the third book I've read by Welz Bailey, and every single time, she's kept me on my toes. She manages to jam-pack so much into every story that you daren't look away, and don't even think you know who it is, because just when you think you've cracked it, bam, she whips that rug right out from under you and leaves you feeling unsure of whom to trust.
In book three, we see Clara finally finding her way into the FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit in Quantico. Clara is a complex yet extremely human agent who strives to be the best while keeping her own demons at bay. Alongside the hunt to track down a killer who is preying on couples swept up in love is Clara's own personal quest to solve the eighteen-year mystery of what happened to her younger brother Grayson.
With twists and turns aplenty, she's done it again, delivering another heart-pounding, twisty, clever psychological thriller with tear-jerking moments. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, run along and download it now!
Y’ALL. Welz Bailey did NOT come to play with The Quantico Killer—this book grabbed me by the throat on page one and never let go.
Clara Strong finally lands her dream spot in the FBI’s BAU (hello, Criminal Minds vibes 🙌), but instead of a warm welcome, she walks straight into a nightmare: a sadistic serial killer targeting couples in ways so dark, so bone-chilling, you can feel the dread seeping off the page. The crime scenes? Painted with sensory detail sharp enough to make you smell the metallic tang of blood and hear the echo of silence after. Absolutely haunting.
Clara is fierce, flawed, and heartbreakingly human—still carrying the weight of her brother’s unsolved disappearance while trying to keep her head in the most high-stakes game imaginable. She’s whip-smart, determined, and you can’t help but root for her even when the case claws at her sanity.
Bailey’s writing? Razor-tight and cinematic, like binge-watching your favorite gritty FBI drama with the volume cranked all the way up. The pacing is relentless—you’ll be clutching the book with sweaty palms, flipping pages like your life depends on it. The banter crackles, the suspense hums under your skin, and the twists? Oh, they hit like a sucker punch you never saw coming.
This isn’t just a thriller—it’s an EXPERIENCE. Dark, twisty, sensory, and utterly addictive. Five stars, easy. ✨
Clara Strong finally lands her dream job in the FBI’s BAU and she ends up right in the middle of one of the biggest cases to hit the department in some time. A sadistic serial killer is targeting couples in the area and each attack is more brutal, more visceral than the last. It feels like the killer has something against couples in love. Clara will have to use all her skills to untangle the web of intrigue surrounding the case. Can she do it?
On top of focusing on finding the killer, Clara also continues her quest to find out what happened to her brother, Grayson. How can she crack the case and still manage to try to find her brother? If you know Clara like we do, you know she can handle both of these and still never break a sweat.
Welz has a way with words and the way she sets the scenes pulls you right into the middle of the action. We get to ride along with the FBI. We get a glimpse into the thoughts of some of the characters. Every detail is precise and serves its purpose to build up the whole picture. I found myself racing with Clara and trying to solve the case before her. Spoiler: I was so very wrong.
If you like a gripping, lively plot with enough twists to send you to a chiropractor, then this is the book for you!
The Quantico Killer is book 3 in the Clara Strong series by the extremely talented author Welz Bailey, following on from her brilliant debut crime thriller The Pawn, and her second Call Me Jacob, Welz narration grows better, more accomplished and in skilful excellence.
Clara Strong has made it as a Special Agent in the FBI Behavioural Analysis Unit in Quantico. Clara continues in her personal search for her younger brother Grayson, blaming herself for his mysterious disappearance 18 years earlier which went unsolved.
On her first day of training, Clara is pulled out by her boss to join the team to investigate a case of chilling murders by a serial killer targeting couples, there are no clues or DNA left at the crime scenes. The case is complex and the perpetrator seems to be one step ahead of the FBI and police. This is an epic suspenseful fast-paced chase against time to find the killer before there are any more victims, leading to a very tense and extremely anxious finale. Who's next and how do they choose who?
I absolutely love the characters created by Welz that come across as so real and I have enjoyed getting to know them and their personalities. There are multiple suspects, plenty of unexpected twists in this compelling and gripping thriller, really hard to put this book down, I just didn't want to, truly exciting reading.
Well Welz Bailey has done it again. If you haven’t read the Clara Strong series yet. Do yourself a favor and get to it.
My TBR like most, is long enough that I can read until I’m atleast 275 years old. I skipped the list and immediately bought this book soon as she posted it was for sale.
Excellent, loved it, the additional Clara I needed but that ended let me just say 🤬🤬🤬 now here I will be impatiently waiting for book 4.
A good thriller, mystery is one you can’t figure out during the book, and this one had me guessing during the entire book.
“The Quantico Killer” by Welz Bailey (Clara Strong, Book 3) is dark, gripping, and relentless. This installment dives deep into Clara’s world as she helps track down a brutal serial killer while still haunted by the mystery of her missing brother. The story balances chilling suspense with moments of gore, keeping the tension razor-sharp. Clara is faced with tough ethical dilemmas that make her feel real and human, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. A well-written, intense thriller that fans of dark crime fiction will devour.
I love every Clara Strong book there is. (3 so far) Strong FMC with so much personality and strength. She is a character you find yourself connecting with on a more personal level. If you are into crime thrillers this is a perfect series to start. This series has been fast paced and full of suspense from the very beginning and continues on through with each book you pick up. Welz is a fantastic author with 5 star books every time.
The third book in the series follows Clara Strong into her first case with FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit. She barely has time to meet the team before she's hunting down a serial killer, who is always one step ahead, and bodies are piling up. It's intense and thrilling, and I loved it!
The writing is taut, and the plot fast-moving. I was completely blindsided by who was committing the despicable crimes, and what more could you want from a suspenseful thriller! A solid five stars!
