Wesley, the keeper of Resurrection Cemetery, is a 114-year-old Once Deceased Person with a very strict routine. Wake up. Eat eggs with hot sauce. Unlock the cemetery. Supervise the visitors. Fight the horrors. Tea with Rosie. Repeat.
In their second life, the cemetery and the ghosts of the Darling family are all they know. Their purpose. But after the recent fall of Crowe County Hospital’s West Belfry, Wesley finds their routine turned on its head. Whispers of crime king pin Michael Bell’s return to Crowe County travel the cemetery like wildfire, his eyes set on the science of Victor Darling's making. The art of immortality. As an unknown scientist's blind ambition brings the darkness of Crowe County closer to the Darling home than ever before, Wesley's routine is turned on its head. Through unlikely alliances with a Birchwood Agent named Dorothy and the king pin’s nephew, Rudy, the keeper finds themselves considering something they never had before. What if they abandoned Resurrection Cemetery, and the Darling family, for good?
Very well written, perfect for spooky season. I can recommend spending some time at the Cemetery, with some tea, and a blanket. I guarantee if you read the prologue, you won't want to put it down.
I picked this book up last fall and I regret leaving it until now to read. I don't know how much I was missing by skipping book 1 and going to this but it was an amazing story either way. I'll just have to read it again after I get my hands on book 1. I loved the concept and setting of this story. It takes place in a cemetery in a world where the supernatural, while maybe not accepted or liked, is understood to be very real. It follows Wesley, the >100 year old keeper of the cemetery as he tries to take care of the cemetery as best as he can with the aid of his unlikely new friends. At the very end I actually yelled "Hell yea Wesley!" out loud.
An amazing second book from this author! I fell in love with Crowe County and all it had to offer as I watched the West Belfry of the hospital fall in the first book. With a penchant for quick, witty banter and excellent story telling skills, TT takes us on a journey to true freedom for our beloved Wesley, the keeper of Resurrection Cemetery. With plenty of spooky pieces and characters full of depth, this book has lived up to every expectation I had. I hope for a return to Crowe County for us in the future!
