As a 50-something juggling full-time work and a very full life, Don’t Act Your Age is exactly the right book at the right time.

It strikes an excellent balance: grounded in solid research and expertise, yet accessible, relatable and practical. It’s neither a preachy reinvention manifesto nor dense health science.

The recommendations are realistic, incremental shifts that can be layered into a busy professional life. The focus on daily habits, mindset, movement, connection and purpose feels achievable rather than aspirational - which matters when you don’t have hours for sweeping lifestyle overhauls.

Importantly, it’s motivating without being pressuring. It reframes ageing as dynamic and responsive to small, consistent actions.

I’ve already made subtle changes such as walking more intentionally, prioritising recovery, structuring my week more thoughtfully - and they feel sustainable.

This is a book for capable, time-poor adults who want to age well without turning life upside down: evidence-based, grounded and genuinely inspiring.

Leigh Elders book "Don't act your age" is a stimulating, motivating and informative book. Leigh recalls Resthome residents who have little or no motivation to exercise or partake in activities which will prolong their lives. His book has plenty of positive tips on how to exercise, the importance of nutrition, how to build resilience and the importance of establishing new life habits. It's a must read for all ages but particularly those over 65.

Congratulations on such a very qualified and well researched book that is easy to read with an excellent lay out AND relevant.
This book applies to most adults, you do not have to be an 'old' person.
Every person will get a benefit from reading this book - you choose which part you need for today.
Great value, an excellent reference, one I re-read frequently.

Very good, an easy read. A little repetitive at times but overall a good read. So many people would benefit greatly from this and our health system would see the results. Thank you Leigh.
