I swore an Do no harm. Too bad Kovan never swore the same. Because the mob boss just broke my heart.
I'm pregnant. My mother is dying. And the man I love—the man who ruined me—refuses to let me go.
But wait—there's more. Luka is unraveling, angry at the world for losing everyone he’s ever loved. The social worker is circling, ready to rip him out of our home. And Ihor Makhova—Kovan’s oldest enemy—has discovered my name. My pregnancy. My weakness.
There are moments—quiet breakfasts, lullabies whispered to Luka, Kovan's hand steadying me when the baby kicks—that make me believe we could be a family. And then the bullets fly, the secrets explode, and I see the blood on Kovan’s hands.
And I can't help but wonder... What's the point of protecting us if there's nothing left to protect?
TOXIC SALVATION is Book 2 of the Krayev Bratva duet. Kovan and Vesper’s story begins in Book 1, TOXIC TEMPTATION.
2⭐️/5 After the 1st book that I really liked, this one was such a HUGE disappointment.
I’m going to talk about the huge problems for me in this book, and why it ruined my whole experience. I ended up skimming the book more than reading it, because I just stopped caring about the couple, about the story, I just wanted to finally finish it. All because of things that made it extremely unenjoyable.
What’s the problem ? THOSE HUGE PLOT HOLE AND INCONSISTENCY
⚠️I’ll have to spoil some details to make my point, so if you had planned to read it maybe don’t read my review ⚠️
Okay, so HOW is it possible, that they started saying I love yous to each other in the FIRST book right after the hospital galas. But then, they mysteriously say the “FIRST” I love yous, 3 (THREE) or 4 (FOUR) !!!different times in this book. When they get back together they say their I love yous and they say that it’s the first time (false). Then in another instance, in that SAME book, they say their “FIRST” I love yous AGAIN (also false) AND then AGAIN when their son is born, and Kovan even say "I've felt it for months. Today's the first time I was brave enough to say it.” (False AGAIN)
If it was only that ?? Somehow they end up in hiding because they think that they’re in danger. Vesper is with Luka and he KNOWS that she’s pregnant they even talk about it, let’s say all of this happened in chapter 20. But then AFTER in like chapter 25 they announce to Luka that she’s pregnant because he supposedly didn’t know until then ????
The timeline ??? At the end of the 1st book she learns after one MONTH of being away from kovan that she’s pregnant. And her mom hasn’t started her treatment yet. But then in the second book they see each other again after 1 MONTH of being away from each other. So she normally should have known for only a few days that she’s been pregnant. But then ??? We’re told that she learned 1 MONTH AGO ?! that she’s pregnant. So right after they broke up + her mom already started the experimental trial ???
The push and pull game between the MCs was kinda ridiculous at time and didn’t make sense.
Overall a HUUUGE downgrade compared to the 1st book, I was really disappointed. And the fact that the second epilogue isn’t even included in the book, you have to get it somewhere else ??? Yeah count me out
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Overall, this was a good read. Little things bothered, but nothing to point out specifically. The whole mama and papa thing with Luka felt clunky and forced at times.
Lots of potential in this duet, but the MCs just couldn’t get out of their own way. Book 1 was strong - but this one was a hot mess. There were also timeline inconsistencies and other disconnects that made it painful. 😖
“Toxic Salvation” is the second book in “Krayev Bratva” duet. Vespar Fairfax is a strong and dedicated paediatric surgeon at St. Raphael’s - it is her life. She works at the same hospital where her father worked, her role model. Kovan Krayev is the new Pakhan of the Krayev Bratva when is older brother Vitalii is brutally murdered. Vespar’s world is spiralling out of her control when she finds out that she is pregnant to a man that has stolen her heart, whom has broken her, but refuses to let her go. “Meaning I fell in love with him,” I confess. “God, it sounds so stupid when I say it out loud. But I did. I fell hard, and I thought… I thought what we had was real.”
“You made yourself very clear a month ago. I’m not family. I’m not blood. I’m nothing to you.” Kovan has his reasons for letting her go, he has to protect her at all cost….”It’s been thirty-two days since I last saw Vesper. I cut her out of my life ruthlessly, and it’s killing me by inches.”
When he finds out that she is pregnant with his child….”I have responsibilities now. This changes things, whether either of us wants it to or not.” To him, she is just another loose end. “I’m not the woman he loves. I’m just the vessel carrying his heir, and that makes me his responsibility. Nothing more. Not now. Not ever.”
Kovan and Vesper’s relationship is tumultuous - with many twists and turns around each corner. Slowly the barriers come down ….. will Vesper trust him again? Will Kovan finally open up to Vesper? Will he explain to her why he is the way that he is, feels the way that he does? Will they be able to save their relationship and possibly become more? Will their relationship survive? Will parenthood bring them closer to each other? So many questions …. you will be hooked!
“Sometimes, the things that are most important are the things we can’t see—love, hope, happiness.”
As per standard for Naomi’s Bratva Mafia Romance stories, it is dark in places, violent and dark at times, passion, secrets, loyalty and let’s not forget the heat between Kovan and Vesper. The chemistry between them is off the page!
You will fall in love with both Kovan and Vesper, hoping that everything with work out for them and if they have a future together. There is never a dull moment - you will be hooked! I know I was - just love these two! A thoroughly enjoyable read from page to page, one chapter to the next - at times you are metaphorical “on the edge of your chair” wondering what will happen next. Overall, I would highly recommend this book and you will not be disappointed 😊
Toxic Salvation is book two of a duet so if you haven’t already read that, please don’t continue reading this spoiler free review:
So when we last left off, Kovan and Vesper were at crossroads. Dealt a really tough hand, they separate at a pivotal moment that leaves them yearning for a life they could have had. But what happens when they have more than a contract and Luka binding them together?
We’re back baby! As with all Naomi West duets, a happy ending is a given so I had no doubt that we’d get here…eventually. If I had to describe this book, I’d say that it’s all about family: navigating their lives after a happily ever after, going through what it really takes to compromise and come together as a new family.
“You are an extraordinary woman Vesper Fairfax.” “And I could only ever love an extraordinary man.”
Kovan continues to steal my heart as the least toxic Pakhan ever. This man shows us what it truly means to be human, he’s a man with a heart and all he ever thinks of is how he can protect his family. And Vesper fit right into his world and stepped it up, becoming his Queen. She was such a support system for a man who has to be there for everyone else. She wants to be his strength instead of turning into his weakness and I loved that about her.
“And I realized that, as long as you’re beside me, I can handle anything.”
The plot was fire and the chemistry was just amazing but it was the tender moments that I really lived for in this book. The way that Vesper comforted Kovan, the way they stepped up as THE Bratva couple for their community. It was portrayed really well, I loved every moment of it. And of course the usual witty crack humour that we’ve come to associate with Naomi West’s writing was ever present, whether it was in the sibling rivalry between Vesper and Waylon or Osip and Pavel’s hilarious hi jinx (Kovan kissing Osip’s bald head had me cackling!).
Overall, I genuinely finished this book with a big smile on my face (that extended epilogue was EVERYTHING) and I really did enjoy every moment. Kovan and Vesper have taught us a lot…how to love each other and those around us fiercely, to never let human greed get in the way of our ethics and morals, and what it really means to be a family.
I swore an Do no harm. Too bad Kovan never swore the same. Because the mob boss just broke my heart.

This contemporary dark mafia mob fake marriage romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building that is engulfed by darkness, danger, violence, and grit, and characters who are an alpha Bratva mafia male who is exuding power/wealth, violence, brooding, dangerous, and a female heroine who is feisty/resilient/, who are both captivating and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with toxic salvation, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy, sizzling passion, lust, desire, and spice with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, romantic suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, a fake marriage, a secret baby, Kovan and Vesper's story, heartfelt emotions/emotional depth, deception, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with toxic temptation and an explicit dark mafia romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly dangerous, lustful, and unforgettable.

I loved this book. A great conclusion to this duet. Toxic Temptation was the first book I'd read by Naomi West and I was hooked, so I was looking forward to seeing Vesper and Kovan get their- hopefully!- happy ending. Great world building and wonderful characters. This story was fast-paced and suspenseful, with tension, danger, and action.
Vesper has so much on her plate- with her mom, the pregnancy, her job, and the enemy. She may have doubts and don't know what to do or how to handle it. But when action is needed, she doesn't hesitate to step up for those she loves. Kovan knows he messed up and is only more miserable for it. Which I was glad, honestly, because his actions and words made me so mad I wanted to shake some sense into him- among other things- until he sorted himself right.
'It’s been thirty-two days since I last saw Vesper. I cut her out of my life ruthlessly, and it’s killing me by inches.'
“Go ahead, brother. Won’t change the fact that you’re miserable. Won’t change the fact that Luka cries himself to sleep every night asking for her... I know you haven’t slept more than three hours at a time since she left. I know you’ve been drinking more and eating less. I know you look like death warmed over.” Some of his anger fades away. “You’re dying in the darkness, man. You’re killing yourself.”
I loved the bond between Luka and Vesper. It made my heart squeeze. I also really liked a number of supporting characters. I was completely hooked to this book. I would love if this would be made into an audiobook someday (duet narration preferably). It would be exciting to listen to! I will definitely read more of this author's work. 5 stars
Why are emotionally scarred men such catnip? Well, at least the heroine matches the hero in that they’re both afraid of love because they are afraid of loss. Which creates drama and we love that, otherwise we wouldn’t be reading Mafia Romance! Bratva Romance to be specific. This is, of course, book one in a duet because that seems to be what all the lemmings are doing… I strongly dislike duets because 90% of the time, with some judicious editing and less indulgence, they could be combined into one book. That is not the case here. There is too much story for one book, too much character development. The author was very wise to make this a duet and in saying that, the equator must have just frozen over because those are words I didn’t expect to type. No, this duet was never boring. Frustrating at times because I wanted to clock both the hero and heroine upside the head. MMC/FMC- Kovan and Vesper Heat- open door, explicit, medium to slow burn speed. Safety? Y Triggers- oh, honey, this is a Bratva novel, so you know it’s going to be violent. In addition to that there’s child abuse and language in two languages. And a lot of the action takes place in a pediatric ward, so not every child makes it out alive. Tropes- He Ain’t Heavy— He’s My Bratva, Fake Relationship, Secrets and Lies, Custody Battle, Dysfunctional Family FTW, Adorable Moppet, Monkey’s Uncle, Medical, Surprise Pregnancy. About Book Two: it was a very satisfying conclusion to an exciting duet.

I really enjoyed this duet. It wasn’t even the spice for me, which is usually all I care about. The plot and especially the first book were absolute chef’s kiss.
Finally a female main character who isn’t a dummy or a big baby. My girl was a hot shot surgeon and I loved her.
Kovan and Vesper had me hooked. That first meeting during the hospital shootout, with him walking in holding his nephew and desperately needing help for an allergy, was wild.
The deal, the fake relationship, the way Vesper loved Luka as if he were her own son all pulled me in. The banter between Vesper and Kovan felt so natural. They actually seemed like a real couple. I loved how they chose each other and chose to be a family. Vesper and Luka had such a beautiful bond.
I could not stand his real mother Yana or his stepfather Ihor being the villains of the series. Using Luka as a pawn to get what they wanted made my blood boil.
When Kovan finally got custody, I was so happy. Him pushing Vesper away was typical for these kinds of stories, but he wanted better for her than his violent world. And my girl wasn’t weak. She was pregnant, a doctor, and still standing strong.
Learning the truth about her father, the hospital and the organ trade added so much juicy drama.
I loved the ending with Kovan and Vesper getting married, becoming mom and dad to Luka and finally taking down Ihor.
But I was not prepared for the fifteen year jump in the epilogue with Luka becoming a dad.

Toxic Salvation picks up right where book one left off with Kovan and Vesper, diving deeper into the fallout of the shocking revelations and dangerous secrets surrounding them.
This book was honestly a beast to get through. While I enjoyed seeing Kovan and Vesper’s story continue, the middle portion felt much slower than I expected. There were stretches where it seemed like the main storyline wasn’t making much progress, and I found myself needing to set the book aside and read something else before coming back to finish it. Once the story picked back up, though, it delivered the suspense, emotion, and relationship development that kept me invested in these characters.
Kovan continues to prove why he’s such a compelling hero, and seeing the growth in both his and Vesper’s relationship was one of the strongest parts of the book. Naomi West does a great job balancing the romance with the darker elements woven throughout the series.
One of my favorite parts was the extended epilogue. It gave readers a satisfying glimpse into the future and allowed us to catch up with some of the other relationships and characters we’ve come to know along the way. After everything these characters endured, it was nice to see where life ultimately took them.
While the pacing in the middle kept this from being a five-star read for me, Toxic Salvation still provided a solid conclusion to Kovan and Vesper’s story and wrapped up their journey in a way that felt rewarding.
Toxic Salvation is second and final book of the Krayev Bratva duet. Kovan and Vesper’s story begins in book one Toxic Temptation. Dark. Twisted. Dangerous. Captivating. Dirty. Compelling. Delicious. A fast paced, thrilling and gripping read. Immerse yourself in this tantalizing mind-blowing rollercoaster ride filled with high-octane adventures, non-stop twists and turns and pulse-pounding action, heart-stopping danger, violence, enemies, retaliation, mob war, vengeance, revelations, spice, power and control, chaos, bloodshed, attacks, threats, trials and tribulations, angst, emotions, tension, anger, threats, impending war, parenthood and love. The story picks up where it left off with Vesper and Kovan working together to gain custody of his nephew but there's a lot of obstacles in their path and they're both dealing with their own past demons that as spaced their lives. It will take working together in order to defeat their opponents. A great conclusion to the story.

I really enjoyed the first book so it was such a letdown how this book continued. How does the FMC just keep crawling back to the man who told her she was nothing??? Excuse me??? Have some pride girl.
They went from everything that occurred between them in the first book, to him telling her she meant nothing to him. Multiple times. I don’t care that it’s under the guise of protecting her. And she just let him walk all over her & talk to her like she was worthless. She finds out she’s pregnant, then tells him, at which point he still is treating her like dirt. Then making her feel like an obligation by basically saying “oh I’ll take care of you because you’re having my baby”, you’re still nothing to me, but move back in? So she does.
The FMC felt like a different character and her one-sided continuous care for him with how he treated her ticked me off. She should have made him grovel…indefinitely…but no. Just another female character who was completely dickmatized. Blech.
This series dragged longer than it needed to. So much going on, would hardly consider it a romance. This was so long I think the author forgot what she was writing about because there was so many things that didn’t make sense.
They already said they loved each other but then when they say it again, he said it was the first time he could finally admit it. Same in the dressing room scene and Luka said he had to protect Vesper because she was pregnant and she got emotional about it, but then in another chapter later, they’re preparing to tell him she’s pregnant and he said he already knew because he was smart. And again when Ihor made it known he knew about the pregnancy but Kovan wants to hide it from Yana because he doesn’t want Ihor to find out. Author made the FMC AND MMC weak. Vesper was really stupid for being a doctor. It got really boring and repetitive after a while and I just skipped the last 5 chapters to get to the ending.
Book Two of the Krayev Bratva Duet delivers a gripping conclusion that takes readers even deeper into the dangerous and passionate world of Vesper, Kovan, and his nephew, Luca. Naomi West masterfully blends suspense, raw emotion, and steamy chemistry, creating a page turner filled with secrets, shocking revelations, and heart stopping danger. The tension never lets up, and the author rewards us with a thoroughly satisfying, delectable ending that makes the journey worth every moment.
This is not a standalone, readers will need to start with Book One, Toxic Temptation, to fully experience the depth of the story. Together, these two books form a must-read duet for fans of dark, emotional, and addictive mafia romance.

FMC and MMC playing house. I only read this to see if Kovan was going to man up and fight for his girl. He does none of that. Even worse, he pushes her away some more in a nasty way.
Again, it's Vesper who goes back to him, who confesses and who basically fights for him. There was no chemistry. It felt one sided. Kovan has his moment of caring and being possessive. But it did nothing for the plot since he was mainly indifferent, passive and didn't really want her anyway.
Also the lack of anything remotely exciting had me just skimming through the book just to finish it.
So this book exists to conclude the duet and I honestly kind of just feel meh about it. It was waaaay too long for what it was, and it wasn't even because of filler spice. It's a very plot-heavy book which I would normally appreciate, however the plot was predictable and the characters didn't really seem to evolve from the first book.
I'm actually kind of annoyed, if I'm being honest. I wanted to like this more than I did, and it was incredibly frustrating at points to feel like "is it over yet?"
Now in this books defense, I did read a different book between book 1 & book 2, and maybe that's why this one is hitting a little lower than what it may deserve. YMMV
Had to DNF. Which was so disappointing, bc I loved the first book so much. But everything just felt so forced and inconsistent.
The writing style feels different. I’m not as interested. It just feels like it’s dragging on so much and is so choppy.
It even feels like Vesper (FMC) is a completely different character than she was in the first book. Everyone was so insufferable. Except for Waylon, who I loved more in this one.
All the “chemistry”, if you can even call it that, between Kovan & Vesper just felt so fake.
I’m ab 70% done w this book, I may pick it up and finish it eventually, but it’s just such a chore to read it anymore and I’m genuinely so bored.
This is a long duet - 670 and 560 pages. It could have easily have been edited didn't by 100 to 200 pages. The FMC is really annoying. Vesper Fairfax is a skilled pediatric surgeon and very strong willed but she is still civilian. She doesn't know Bratva. Yet she constantly fights Kovan, the Pakhan, going against his security and instincts to fulfill her BS feminism of being an independent woman. She ruins the books for me. Kovan is a dominant caring Pakhan who is constantly forced to fight his enemies and Vesper. I can't really recommend this overly long and annoying duet
She pregnant, Kovan and Vesper’s second child, at first the book starts with so many things being uncovered. I love how Kovan finds our Vesper is pregnant, the moment will forever go as one of my favorites. I also love how luka would not give in to their breakup and fought to get Vesper back. Kovan stubbornness is so much fun, especially because of Pavel and Opis calling him out of his Sh*t. There are so many things happening in this second book you would not get bored. I highly recommend all of Naomi west book!!!
WOW! This second part of this is amazing! The first book was amazing and I couldn't wait to get the second half of it to find out the ending and I tell you what Naomi West did not disappoint! It was amazing to read more of the trials and problems that they had to face, but they faced them together. In the end, they ended up with something that they were determined to have in the first place, even though they fought it. What a great book! I will definitely keep these two books ready to read again!.

Kovan and Vesper definitely work better together. They both went through their own personal issues to find their path together, but having Luka and their newborn sealed their fate. I found Vesper to be stubborn and didn't seem to sense any real dangers with the Bratva, but Kovan wasn't one to change his ways and put Vesper in danger even if it meant doubling security for her. Luka was so sweet and glad he had Kovan and Vesper by his side. Enjoyable story.

I loved this conclusion for Kovan and Vespa. My emotions were all over the place between the Bratva drama, denied feeling and heartbreak, an unexpected pregancy, and poor Luka his nephew. His search to be loved and safe with Kovan and Vespa: and his hateful stepfather, the snake in the grass, and mother is quite the "B". The story has it all with a few twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to the next disaster to pull them apart. Fate and love always wins in the end. Wow, but l just loved this book. So much so that l just had to read it in one go. I loved how Kavon and Vesta's relationship developed. Luka was such a wonderful little character and l enjoyed his contributions to this story. I also loved the supporting characters, they made me smile - well the good guys! The development of all the characters in this second part really made this story for me. Excellent.

This was the second part of the story, and we pick up where we learn she’s pregnant. Because she almost got hurt, he decides they can’t be together, which kicks off a back-and-forth about whether they’ll reunite. Then there's the drama with the evil mom and uncle trying to take Luka. But in the end, we get a really heartwarming ending—way better than I expected! The author wrapped everything up beautifully, tying it all together with a bow. Such an amazing story!.

Toxic Salvation is the second book in the Krayev Bratva duet. It continues the story of Vesper and Kovan, picking up from Book 1, Toxic Temptation. Get ready for some big bangs to happen with this book...in and out of the bedroom. Vesper and Kovan should not work but yet there is a sizzling connection that has turned more real than either expected. Before the end they will have to fight to be together but also fight each other for their love.
Toxic Salvation by Naomi West is the conclusion to the story of Kovan and Vesper. She’s a pediatric surgeon. He’s a Bratva pakhan. Things have spiraled out of control and Vesper is caught in the middle of it all…in fact, she’s targeted and in a delicate way.
Kovan is a bit of a jerk still in denial, but covering it as protection… Vesper is torn between her feelings and what she wants professionally. There’s tons of danger, shocks, twists and turns galore, sizzle, and a romance that can’t be beat!! This story was incredible!
With book two the adventure carries on with Kovan and Vesper and even when they break up to keep her safe they are drawn back together. When his nephew could be taken from him she steps in and saves the day, for now things appear to be working out but that could be down Vesper telling him he's going to be a father. Death threat on Vesper, traitors, so many secrets, but be ready for the steamy love between Vesper and Kovan amid all the danger around them.
This was the perfect conclusion for me. I think Kovan is my favourite Bratva boss. We get to see his softer side for Vesper and Luka more and of course more of his protective side. Vesper also showing her protective side more for Luka, I love their bond. Some unexpected twists in the end I wasn’t expecting. Loved everything about this series.
