I enjoyed creating this upbeat escape world. Gildar, a young blind dragon, wants to fly and be accepted. His unique talents could change fate. Dorali is a deeply scarred dragon driven to be a Healer. Her friend Karoon wants her in his life, but is she ready for any changes? It's always fun to describe Scree and Orm's undersea adventures and their humor. Life is better with a splash of humor. The sunset dragons have a difficult history that shapes their traditions. It was interesting to watch as this play out in my mind. I hope you enjoy visiting this world.
That's the Epic storms of life create Havoc amongst all the beings from the initial books come together in a challenge needing difficulties in a new area and finding new friends and ways to cope after tragic volcanoes and tsunamis hey dangerous and Friends amazing read
Arak and his friends’ adventures are far from over, and imagine my surprise when I found out that this book existed the day after it released.
Sunset Dragons is the fourth entry in this series, focusing on a tribe of new dragons known as the Sunset Dragons. Think of them like Skywings but less grumpy and their ruler isn’t a homicidal maniac who likes watching dragons fight to the death. Along the way, Scree, our octopus friend, investigates the mysterious disappearance of fish from the ocean, threatening all life with their absence.
There isn’t much for me to say here that I haven’t said about the previous books. This one was as delightful as the others, though it wasn’t my favorite. It takes a while to really get going, and I was quite disappointed to see that one of the problems the characters were trying to solve was forgotten about towards the end. The ending also felt a little bit rushed, which was really disappointing, seeing as it was teasing an eventual sequel (I suppose st this point it’s more of a fivequel), hence my lower rating. Other than that though, it was still enjoyable, even if it wasn’t the greatest one.
If I had to make a guess, I’d say there’s going to be one more book, and it’s going to end it all with a bang. A conclusion that’ll do a series this awesome justice. Fingers crossed!
With so much grim news in real life, Sunset Dragons offers a beautiful, wholesome fantasy world to spend time in. Like the other books in the Dragon Dreamer series, it is delightfully imaginative. Virtually every page features beautiful descriptions of beautiful scenery, ranging from dragons with skin like fire opals to caverns lit by luminescent jellyfish. The main characters are dragons and octopuses who have come up with many ingenious ways to use materials from their surroundings to solve problems and have fun. Can their pluck and teamwork save them from volcanoes, megalodon sharks, food supply disruptions and the eerie antagonists known as the dwire?
Friends helping friends survive the mysteries of life.
Scree is making new friends as they all travel to a new world to escape the danger of the calamity of their old world's destruction.
Along the way they encounter new mysteries, new dangers, and make new friends as they seek refuge and a new home where they can live in safety, each contributing their own special abilities to the safety of the entire group of diverse kinds of people.
A kind of mirror to what our own world could be if only we allowed it, and another great, five-star addition to a wonderful series.
J.S. Burke has managed to create an original story involving Akar and Drakor and Scree, and all of our friends from the first three Dragon stories. We still see all our favorite characters interacting and developing their friendship while meeting new friends and old enemies. Again, the dragons are drawn into problem-solving by the beginning of climate change in their world. In order to keep their communities alive and well, they all must work together while enjoying each other's culture as well. Also, it was an impressive effort by the author to include younger dragons, but also dragons with special needs. It cultivates the understanding of many ways to overcome physical disabilities and find their own ways to be the same as all the other three communities. Scree and Orm are as brave as always and very wise, traveling far away from home with their brand new travel pods, even going so far as to befriend a very large shark. The story is more involved, characters have become more complex and developed. The New “World” is amazing in terms of detailed environments and the growth of food! The festivals were great fun, plus instructive as always in the bounty offered by our own planet, as long as we know where to look. Some of the food seemed to be so tempting, I thought maybe the author could create a recipe book! I also enjoy the audiobooks very much since I cannot read very well at night anymore. I plan to add the rest of the audiobooks to my audio library as soon as possible. I hope many more reviewers will feel the same. I can't wait for the next book! It will be Dragon licious! Maybe you should create a recipe book!📕T
Michelle Y. Zeman 5 out of 5 stars Another beautiful adventure with dragons
J.S Burke has done it again!
Sunset Dragons is the fourth book in the Dragon Dreamer series, though it can be read on its own.
Having read her previous novels however I can say that it was a joy to return to her world. Arak and Scree remain some of my favorite characters in fantasy.
This new story introduces us to the Sunset dragons with Gildar being the standout. He has a great character arc and fits in perfectly. Like her other work she has a great sense of imagery and I can picture everything perfectly.
Her world includes a wonderful relationship between the dragons and octopi as well as another of my favorite additions a megalodon.
Sunset Dragons is a creative fantasy adventure with lovable well defined characters. It balances action with thoughtful themes about survival and cooperation.
The author has built a wondrous world, similar in some ways to ours but in an alternate universe where where dragons shoot sparks from copper-tipped claws and toss lightning bolts around as if they were physical objects. This one introduces a new dragon clan as well as some favorite characters from the earlier series. I did think the adventures (fighting invisible wolf-like lizards, exploring the world, solving the problem of the dwindling supply of fish, and more) became almost secondary to the rapturous lists of good things to eat--but dragons like their food. Whether you've followed the series or just discovered it, you'll be fascinated by the intrepid octopus scientist and healer, Scree, who will brave any danger to gain knowledge or make a new friend.
After the underwater volcano eruption, Arak and his friends have to deal with the fallout. Scree the octopus needs to find a solution to the spreading area of the ocean that kills all life. The dangerous dwire still hunt Arak and his dragons. They need new allies: the sunset dragons!
It was so wonderful to be back with the dragons and the octopi. I missed these characters so much, and it was so great to see where they've gone and how they've grown from where this started. Burke is back in form. A wonderful tale for readers of all ages.
What I like is the way she uses science in the story and combines that with her dragon's powers and scree's medical knowledge. I hope she has more coming because this story was a treat!
Sunset Dragons is a powerful conclusion to the Dragon Dreamer series, filled with danger, resilience, and hope. The clash between golden and sunset dragons adds fresh tension while also exploring themes of friendship and trust. J.S. Burke’s mix of science, ecology, and fantasy continues to shine, especially with the vivid undersea settings and the appearance of a rare megalodon shark. The characters face blindness, storms, and mysterious disappearances, but their teamwork and courage remain inspiring. The story moves at a brisk pace, balancing action with heartfelt moments. A satisfying and imaginative finale that leaves readers both thrilled and reflective.
Here we have Arak, his mate Zarina, Scree of course and her mate Orm.
When the volcanoes explodes everything is in disarray. Luckily the dragons were able to find new locations to live. With the help of all their friends working together it's amazing what friendship can do. I also found a special needs dragon was a really nice touch in addition to the book to see. I really enjoyed seeing a Megalodon in the book! There are so many interesting characters like Gildar, Triana, Strike, Dorali it's nice to see all of them working together and using their own abilities to help everyone. This book was beautifully put together it was an enjoyment to read!
Jenny has written a world of diverse characters that face significant challenges by working together. For me, this reads like a bedtime story in the very best way possible. Were they younger, I'd read these to my children over and over again.
As an author myself, I don't read or write dystopia. Each new book in Jenny's series is like an antidote to dystopia and I love them!
Brilliant, as all her books are. She takes you in great detail, to another world, not unlike ours, where there are some creatures like on our world, and some we wonder if they existed once, because the same stories about them circulate the earth in many cultures. It is so beautifully described you can see what she says so clearly. And understand all the emotions of the different species, and the joy of them working together, as well as the frightening adversaries. It deserves more than a 5*.
I always enjoy the books in the Dragon Dreamer series by J. S. Burke. It is so amazing that she is able to weave true traits of sea creatures into dynamic adventures. You cannot help but love her characters. This book has a touch of humor which I am really enjoying. I highly recommend this story for young and old.
What I love about this book and this series is the pure escapism it provides. Dragons and Octopi work together to solve their problems and understand that everyone has value and can contribute - a healer of an octopus, a blind dragon, a giant shark - each has value. I love the sense of hope the author creates and find this entire series completely charming!
A beautiful and scientifically legitimate world. Honestly though, I started skipping the octopus parts from the second book onwards. As a book, I gave Sunset Dragons three stars, but as a story, I'd give it five stars. I gave the first three books five stars.
A new story continuing the Dragon Dreamer series, "Sunset Dragons" by J. S. Burke, is charming, returns us to some old friends and adds some new ones. Want a feel good read? You will find it here and don't miss the first three books in the series.
