SOOO CUTE 🥹💜

Book Title: The Perfect Assist (Green Bay Bobcats Book 2)
Author: Jillian Arly
Publisher: Independent
Pub Date: January 8, 2026
Dates Read/Listened: January 11, 2026 – January 17, 2026

🗣️ 𝚀𝚞𝚒𝚌𝚔 𝚃𝚊𝚔𝚎: Well hot dang you guys, Arly has done it again and I managed to love The Perfect Assist even more than Behind the Bench (though I still can’t be asked to pick a favorite between the two). There is a nice little hockey glossary that is helpful if you don’t know much/anything about hockey, and I love that Arly is writing what she knows. I knew this would be Niko’s story, and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Niko and Sadie together are ✨magical✨ and add in that little girl of his to make it the most adorable/tug-at-your-heartstrings book of all. The spice was spicing away and there is more than one sizzling hot moment to satisfy you steamy romance junkies. UGH in the best possible way. I laughed, I cried, I almost threw my Kindle across the room… you get it. Arly is a force to be reckoned with, and I hope she writes many more Bobcats’ books to come. ESPECIALLY after that thread she left dangling. 👀😝

Spice - 🌶🌶

Trope - hockey romance, single dad, team captain × yoga instructor, black sheep FMC, nanny situation, strangers to friends to lovers, forced proximity, romcom, slow burn, workplace, found family, HEA
CW - mention of child abandonment, negligent narccistic parent

After loving Ellie and Lincoln's book, I couldn't wait for Sadie's story with our Captain Dad, and they didn't disappoint me.

This book revolves around Sadie and Niko's story. Niko is a single dad who has been struggling with childcare ever since his ex-wife left, leaving him alone with his four-year-old daughter. He's underslept, tired, and exhausted, and is in urgent need of help. When Sadie is temporarily appointed as a yoga instructor for the Green Bay Bobcats, he finds himself drawn to her but hesitates to act after his previous relationship debacle. Seeing Niko struggle, Sadie offers to help with childcare and admits she's about to be homeless. He, in turn, offers her a place to stay in his home. The close proximity starts to spark feelings between them, feelings they can't ignore.

This book explores many themes, each portrayed so beautifully and well. It was emotionally charged, sweet, and filled with love, care, and affection.

Reading the book while listening to their official playlist made the experience even better.

Niko was captivated by Sadie from the start, which made me excited — we saw that at the end of book 1, but reading his POV here was the cherry on top. He was also such a swoon-worthy character. He cared deeply, loved wholeheartedly, danced, cooked, was a great captain, and had the most meaningful nicknames for both his daughter and the FMC.

There were also many hilarious moments in the book. I had so much fun during those times.

Sadie wasn't Sophia's biological mother, but she certainly was her mum. Their bond was so precious.

Niko and Sadie's chemistry was undeniably good. It was comforting, soft, beautiful, and yet emotional. The way they expressed their feelings made the experience truly wholesome. The mutual pining and tension were scorching hot. Both had their own struggles and issues, which were highlighted and dealt with realistically, making them stand out.

Side characters -
1. Connor was the best friend, and I loved his bond with Niko.
2. I could never get enough of Sadie and Ellie's bond; these two reminded me so much of my friendship with my best friend.
3. Hunter was Sadie's twin flame, and I slightly wished we had more of their story. I'm eager for their drama.
________________

There is a third-act breakup, but the reunion and conclusion were so worth it. Who cares if I got a bit upset and shed some tears?

The book is on the low spice scale. Anyone who doesn't enjoy much spice can comfortably read this.
List of spicy chapters -
Ch 35, 39, 41, 48.

I'm very excited for the next couple in the series, especially after that teaser. Want to know who they are? Read the Perfect Assist on 08.01.2026.

The epilogue was more beautiful and sweet than I expected.

I really enjoyed this one.
It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading it after Book One. You'll love Ellie and Lincoln <3

Thank you, Jillian, and LoveNotesPR for the ARC opportunity.

I love this book!! Single dad/nanny (always a fave), but this one had me emotionally invested in these characters!!

Niko is a NFL hockey player and the best daddy to Sofia!! Their bond and the way he cared for her was so sweet!! Sadie, yoga instructor and best friends with the hockey teams coach, ends up being a breath of fresh air in this book! I love her and sofias bond and the way she takes care of her!! This book was the perfect combo of humor, spice, emotions and swoony moments!!

The slow burn in this one was so good, but the attraction and connection was there!! The yearning, the tension, everything about this one made it so perfect!!

Overall just such a great read and the ending was just the best 🥹

This story centers on the team captain and the team’s new yoga instructor, and let’s be real for a second: there is nothing more exquisite than a single dad and nanny romance. A classic for a reason. It works, it always has, and this book proves exactly why.

From start to finish, the story just flows. The atmosphere is warm and immersive, the writing feels effortless, and the little girl? Absolutely adorable and incredibly smart , the kind of child character that genuinely adds heart to the story instead of stealing the spotlight.

The slow burn was done perfectly, taking its time in the best way possible. The romance never felt rushed or overdone it landed exactly where it needed to, emotional and sincere.

What I loved most, though, was the message underneath it all. This story gently reminds us that even when life gets heavy, there’s always a light waiting at the end soft, hopeful, and beautifully real. A lovely way to begin the year, and a story that stays with you long after the last page. 📖

THANK YOU Loves note for the ARC and again thank you Jillian, I loved it so much!!!

ARC review.

Jillian sent me an ARC copy and boy am I glad she did. What a fantastic read. 5 ⭐️ 🌶️ 🌶️
Jillian writes hockey romance like no other, she truly cares about the sport and that shows in her writing. (Unlike most I do care that the sports are depicted correctly in books.) She makes you fall in love with her characters and sure knows how to make a girl wait. This one made me laugh and it made me cry (I don’t do this often) the cap daddy reference took me out in a fit of laughter. Getting to see Ellie and Lincoln’s relationship from behind the bench progress was also a nice treat. Can’t wait till everyone can get their hands on this one.
Also if we don’t see more of princess sparkle and Kevin I’ll be writing a strongly worded letter 😂

Becoming an arc reader for Jillian Arly has really enlightened my life!

Being obsessed with hockey romance, and knowing how in awe I was of book 1 in the series, I KNEW I was gonna love this book before I read it. Little did I know how much it would impact me. I had to blink away tears at multiple points in the book. Some parts really hit close to home. The insecurities and hardships both of the MC’s were going through were really relatable to me. But I also experienced so much joy and contentment reading Sadie and Niko’s story. Their connection felt magical and special, and Niko’s daughter Sophia was just the cherry on top of the very delicious cake!

Can’t wait to see what the next book is gonna bring us ♥️

Niko and Sadie's story was an emotional rollercoaster, full of laughter, tears and spice. Niko and Sadie were instantly attracted to the other but both had their reasons to play it safe. Sadie has never felt good enough, her family puts her down at every chance because she doesn't live up to their expectations. Niko is weary from his ex-wife leaving and being in and out of their daughter, Sophia's life. They grow closer as friends and Sadie steps in as his nanny when he gets injured. Soon lines blur and fall hard. Niko was supportive and showed Sadie he truly saw her and all her quirks. Sadie showed Niko he doesn't always have to put others before himself.

I loved this book! I had the pleasure of arc reading this and it was so good. I haven’t read the first one as it’s been sat in my tbr but it’s now been bumped up the list. I loved the characters and the development of a relationship with Sadie and Niko. One of my favourite parts of this was watching Sadie fall in love with Nikos daughter Sophia as she is such a sweet kid and is what was missing from Sophia’s life. I’m not normally a huge fan of kids in books like the single dad trope but this was written beautifully. I loved the dynamics of the characters and right at the end we have set up for book 3 and I am already interested.

ARC Review – The Perfect Assist by Jillian Arly

Thank you to Jillian Arly and Love Notes PR for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

OMG, I absolutely loved this book! It’s the perfect single-dad sports romance, and I honestly can’t get enough of stories like this.

Niko is the captain of the Green Bay Bobcats and a single father to his daughter.

Sadie has always been a bit of an outsider. She’s more alternative and is now trying to find her place in Green Bay.

When Sadie gets hired by the Green Bay Bobcats, she crosses paths with Niko. Niko is looking for a babysitter for his daughter, while Sadie is searching for a place to live. Niko offers her his house in exchange for helping out as a babysitter.

The tension between Sadie and Niko is palpable from the very beginning and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are well developed, and it’s easy to completely lose yourself in the story.

Jillian’s writing style is smooth and incredibly enjoyable to read.

The Perfect Assist is a compelling and comforting romance with well-developed characters and a rewarding slow burn. Fans of office romances and character-driven love stories will definitely enjoy this one.

I think I've decided that this author might not be for me. I honestly wanted to DNF this book within the first 14% of reading it. I was kind of bored and didn't care about the characters. Yes, it did get a little better at times, but I just was not vibing with it. This could honestly just be a me thing because clearly a lot of other people loved this one. I knew from reading Behind the Bench that I wasn't convinced of the two main characters getting together because I wanted the FMC to be with someone else. Honestly, my opinion on that didn't really change too much in this book because I feel like it was just kind of brushed off from that character. I also cringed when I read every single spicy scene. I started having to skim them because I just didn't like them. I'm not sure what it was about them, but they were a no for me. Now, as I said, I did like parts of the book. I liked the character growth and how they grew together. I also liked that this had actual hockey in it, unlike some sports romances that have no sports in it. Overall, this book wasn't for me, but if you love single dad, nanny, hockey romances, then this book might be for you.

I received an eARC of this book.

The Perfect Assist did not disappoint and somehow managed to raise the bar even higher. I already trusted Jillian after Behind the Bench, but this story completely confirmed it for me. The characters felt deeply real, their emotions hit hard, and once again I found myself fully invested from the very first chapter. Jillian has such a natural way of blending romance, vulnerability, and heart without anything ever feeling overdone. I laughed, I cried, and I am emotionally invested in the entire Green Bay Bobcats team now. This series has quickly become a favorite, and I’m so excited to keep reading the next couple’s story! I loved this book. We got to meet these characters briefly in book 1. Tineline wise they run together a little with book 1.

Niko is a single Dad and I really enjoyed in this book that the author showcased more of the mental health aspect that parent abandonment has on kids, usually they're just comedic relief or cute side characters. It was real and challenging and a large piece of the plot line of connecting Niko and Sadie. Sadie with her yoga, meditation and mindfulness was written so well that she didnt come off as quirky or eclectic. She was knowledgeable, smart and this personality and knowledge bettered the team and allowed for great character development. Sadie also had character development when it came to Niko and the Bobcat family accepting her and her worth.

Great book. I really liked it.

Congrats, Jillian, on publishing your second book!🥳

If you're a sports romance lover, especially hockey romance, Jillian's books are one's you need on your tbr!📚 She does an amazing job actually including the sport in her books - from practices, to NHL games - she's got it all. And on top of the sports aspect, we're here for the romance too, and let me tell you, the spice never misses in Jillian's books.🔥

Our MMC, Niko, is a single dad in need of child care. His spunky and energetic daughter, Sophia, is his whole world, and he's had crap luck at keeping a sitter. On top of that, he's captain for the Green Bay Bobcats, so his schedule is extremely rigorous. Enter Sadie, our yoga loving, chakra stone preaching, easy going FMC. It just so happens that Sadie's been hired by the Bobcats team to assist with nutrition and yoga to help get the guys in the right headspace to play at such a high level. When Niko and Sadie's path's cross, they both realize they're in a pickle - Niko needs child care, and Sadie needs a place to live since she's about to be homeless. So what a perfect arrangement to have Sadie be Niko's new live in nanny?!😏

Who doesn't love the single dad x nanny trope?! (That's a rhetorical question - I will take no criticism on this trope). Add in a delicious slow burn, our hilarious Sophia, and the found family aspect, and we've got one heck of a story.

I loved reading about Niko and Sadie's love story🥰 Add in Sophia, Niko's sweet and hilarious daughter, and it just added so much to the story.

There are so many little details, sweet moments, and acts of love between Niko and Sadie that I don't want to spoil, so all I'll say is you need to read this one for yourself!💜

Thank you so so much to Jillian for the opportunity to beta and ARC read this story!

I recommend The Perfect Assist if you like you:

💜 single dad x nanny

Who didn’t love single dad x nanny, forced proximity with a delicious slow burn.

Niko & Sadie’s tension and chemistry between was sooo good! And ugh, the mutual pining…SWOON 🤤 I loved witnessing their relationship develop along with Sophia (Niko’s daughter) become so attached to Sadie. Niko & Sadie both have some emotional trauma to get past but they both help each other heal and grow together as individuals and a couple.

We love talking about MMCs dirty mouth, which don’t get me started because Niko’s mouth is FLITHY…but Sadie isn’t afraid to tell him EXACTLY what she wants 🥵

I cannot wait to see what Jillian has in store for the rest of the series!
Thank you so much Jillian for allowing me to be apart of your team through your writing journey! Congrats on book 2 girl!

ARC REVIEW
Sadie and Niko were beautifully written, overflowing with so much love. From the very first sentence to the last, I was hooked—there was never a dull moment.
I loved that Sophie actually acted like a four-year-old who’s constantly around adults. That influence on her vocabulary felt so real and so well done.
Sadie is for those who choose to be themselves but still overthink everything. She shows up for everyone, has her people, yet still feels like she has to carry it all alone. She’s for the ones who are told they’re too much—or somehow still not enough.
Niko is for those who are doing everything they possibly can, yet feel like they’re doing everything wrong. The number of times I wanted to hug him? Criminal. This man was teetering on the edge of a breakdown more than once.
They work so well together because Niko truly sees Sadie for who she is and loves her deeply for it, and Sadie listens to Niko—while being stubborn enough not to take his bullsh*t. As she should.
I loved Sadie’s bond with Sophie the most. It wasn’t forced or automatic, but there was still an immediate connection—especially the moment goats entered the picture. That girl knows what she wants, and she will absolutely get it.
The found family theme was handled perfectly: present, meaningful, but never overwhelming. I’m already excited for Conner’s book, and I need Lincoln and Ellie’s story too.
This book was beautifully written, perfectly paced, and I can’t wait to see what happens next

I would like to thank Jillian Arly and Love Notes PR for this ARC.
As much as I enjoyed the beginning of the book, it kinda fell flat in the middle.
Maybe it's a right book, wrong time type of situation.
I always like a good single dad/hockey player! Plus with a yoga instructor? I was excited.

I really liked Niko. He's truly a green flag MMC, right until a couple of chapters toward the end.
Sadie is refreshing with her chakras and goat yoga and aura kind of stuff. It's not overwhelming and truly well done. I really liked her.
Sophia is a big part of the book. She's not just a side character, but is as important as Niko and Sadie.

I thought that both family issues, let's word it that way, were resolved too easily. I would have liked maybe a touch more drama.

This series intrigued me enough to say that I'll check out the rest. Connor's story looks interesting and I'm curious to read about Ellie and Lincoln.

The Perfect Assist was another example of how Jillian Arly writes some of the absolute best FMCs and MMCs. I was so excited to head back to Green Bay after already loving Behind the Bench.

The Perfect Assist follows Sadie, a black sheep yoga instructor who only wants to pursue her passion despite her family’s opinions. She lights up every room she walks into, so it’s no surprise that Cap Daddy himself, Niko, can’t help but be captivated by her.
Life as the captain of the Bobcats already comes with plenty of pressure, but adding single parenthood to the mix is starting to wear him down. Luckily, Sadie, being the incredibly kind human that she is, offers to help.

Watching them navigate their relationship while trying to deny their pull toward one another kept the pacing of the book absolutely perfect. They balance each other so beautifully, and I loved the devotion Niko showed Sadie when she didn’t believe she deserved it. Even more special was the way Niko slowly let down his walls and allowed his daughter to fall in love with Sadie just as much as he did.

This was a wonderful reminder to not only have faith in yourself, but also to know that the right people will be there to support you for the perfect assist 🖤

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Jillian Arly for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review!

I really love when you can tell a book was written by someone with a deep love for the sport. As a long-term hockey fan myself, it can pull me out of a book if I can tell it's more about aesthetic than really liking hockey as a whole and that just wasn't the case here. There was love throughout the pages between the characters and surrounding the setting.

Unfortunately for me, while there was so much that I adored about this book, it fell a little flat. I think it might have been starting at book two - I always think I'll be able to read a standalone romance further into a series than I've read and I always find myself wondering if I've missed anything important by jumping ahead.

If you see this review get updated in a months time with an entirely different opinion, just know it's because I feel like there's a lot of potential here and I will be going back to book one and reading my way through.

Overall, a good book and I believe only hindered by the way my brain works!

⭐️ ARC Review ⭐️

This book follows a pro hockey player who is also a single dad after his ex wife leaves him and their daughter. Struggling to manage the stress of being captain and taking care of his daughter Niko is burning out. In walks Sadie she is best friends with Niko’s coaches and the new wellness yoga instructor for the team. She shows Niko how to balance being both hockey captain and th le worlds best dad, while also defrosting his cold heart.

I honestly loved this book so much. The plot was amazing the characters flaws were not so unbelievable that it felt like a book, more like I was actually watching a real life persons story. The struggles of being a single parent no matter mom or dad where very well written and the funny moments that kids ca. being definitely gave the book the ligt feelings to it while also keeping the seriousness of the overarching plot.

My favorite part of this entire book was the correctness to the hockey world. Often times when a book is labeled hockey romance the romance tends to be the forefronts of the story and the hockey elements seems to get lost in translation. And as an avid hockey fan it was a nice reprive to read a story where both the romance and the hockey were intertwined with accuracy.

Overall this book is a great addition to the series and i’m very excited for the 3rd installment to be released and see where the next player of the Bobcats takes us.

If you’re looking for a cute, relatable hockey series that feels like a warm hug with a side of slow burn swoon, this is it. From the very first pages, I was hooked by the found family vibes and the way the team dynamics felt genuine and lived-in, not just background noise.

The single dad/nanny trope was done so well - tender, emotional, and full of quiet moments that really let the connection grow. I also loved the focus on finding yourself again after heartbreak and hard seasons. It added so much depth and made the characters feel real and easy to root for.

This was one of those books I didn’t want to put down because I genuinely cared about where everyone would land. Sweet, heartfelt, and grounded with just the right amount of romance. This series is a total win for hockey romance lovers.

Synopsis: Single dad and captain of the Green Bay Bobcats hockey team, Niko Koskinen, is desperately trying to balance work and taking care of his daughter, Sophia. When yoga expert, Sadie Wilson, begins working with the team, she hits it off with Sophia. Sadie offers to help out with Sophia, and Niko offers her a place to stay in their home. The forced proximity makes it hard for Sadie and Niko to deny their growing attraction.

Thoughts: This book is absolutely fantastic! I am obsessed with Sadie and Niko and their genuine connection and chemistry. Jillian really knows how to write my absolute favorite kinds of book boyfriends, and she really has knocked it out of the park with daddy Niko 😍. I’m always a sucker for a single dad, and I also love how Sadie’s relationship with Niko’s adorable daughter is showcased. The romance, friendship, and family are all so well written and full of emotion - I laughed and swooned and cried just a little. It has been such a joy to watch Jillian flourish as an author, and I am so excited to continue to follow her on this journey! It is so great to get to hang out with the Green Bay Bobcats family again, and I cannot wait to see what they’re up to next. While this one can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading book one - you don’t want to miss Ellie and Lincoln’s story!
