Coco comes out of a Frosty Pines town council meeting, elated that she’s been asked to create signature cocktails for the town’s first Holiday Hoedown. She’s also panicked about finding an “authentic” venue, because the only place big enough to host such an event is Beau Carson’s barn, and he doesn’t like people. As she’s heading back to the bar, the man himself, atop a giant horse, rides up to the bar. Coco is afraid of horses, because of something that happened to her in the past.
Beau listens to Coco’s pitch, though he was already going to say yes. He comes to the bar frequently, just so he can see her. She’s the only woman who doesn’t bat her eyes at him, and he knows she’s the real deal. He gives her the go-ahead, with one condition—she helps him.
Coco tries to act like Beau doesn’t affect her, even though her body betrays her. His knowing smile shakes her, as she’s determined not to fall for the man, but he’s not letting her out of his sight.
Coco does eventually divulge why she stays away from horses, and it’s a devastating tale. It only endears her to Beau, and makes him furious on her behalf. He knows he can’t fight a battle that old, but he can help her now by getting her used to his horse, Duke. It’s so sweet, and shows how much he cares for her.
I love these two together; they’ve been orbiting each other for a while, but it all stayed surface-level until they worked together on the hoedown. It’s a sweet and steamy love story wrapped in tinsel and cocktails, so make yourself a drink, wrap up in something warm, and enjoy this Christmas tale.
