I buried my husband in the morning. By nightfall, the most dangerous man in the city told me I belonged to him.
Grant Holloway died exactly how he reckless, selfish, and naked in someone else’s bed.
I should have been free. Instead, I found out he signed over millions in debt, and he did it in my name. Now the Castellano crime family wants their payment, and they don’t care that I’m a widow.
That’s when Dario Morello stepped out of the shadows.
He didn’t offer sympathy. He offered protection. A marriage contract. His name. His empire.
All I had to do was say yes.
Now I’m wearing his ring, sleeping in his bed, and learning the truth about the man who has been watching me far longer than I realized.
He isn’t my savior. He isn’t just my husband. He is my reckoning.
This is a dark arranged marriage romance
A sharp Black heroine who refuses to break
A ruthless white mafia king who would kill for her
Obsession, power plays, and scorching heat
Forced proximity, slow burn, and “mine from the start” energy
Romance authors are writing the same books over & over but I have a question for BW authors, why do they keep using the same tropes over & over? Sienna let Gary walk all over her for years, supposedly because if she left she would lose everything, so she put up with the insults, egregious repeated cheating & no intimacy for years, took all that with a coke & a smile & kept trying to win his favor, she marries Dario because there's a real threat to her life because of Gary's debt, she find out he was doing surveillance on her & now suddenly she has all this backbone & somehow she could put up with being treated horribly by her husband but what Dario did is a bridge too far. This is so silly, you've established she has a high tolerance but NOW she's got a spine? Please stop writing bw heroines this way. It makes no sense. The need for these heroines to always be victims by having deal with so much disrespect but a man that's actually treating them well, does something wrong, all of a sudden these women have standards & boundaries. Pick a lane. She either has self respect or she doesn't but moving the goal post to get these tropes off is just not good character writing.
I wish this story was longer and we got more of Dario and Sienna. Her dead husband served as the way in for Dario who had watched, admired, and fallen in love with Sienna from afar. For her part, Sienna was married to a serial cheater who was unappreciative of her as a woman and a wife, made worse by the fact that he was hemorrhaging money and ruining Sienna's development project she started with resources she already had prior to their marriage. After her husband dies with millions in debt to dangerous factions, Dario offers Sienna a way through and that's by marriage to him. Although Dario orchestrated the event that led to Sienna's husband being caught in bed with another man's wife and killed, he didn't order the death. What Dario did do was record and watch Sienna over 6 months toward the end of her marriage. Her husband hadn't touched her in over a year and she had been collecting evidence of his infidelity for a divorce she never got to file.
When Sienna finds out about Dario's spying, she's upset and halts the very real marriage they had begun to have. Dario was devastated and anxious to earn Sienna's forgiveness which he eventually receives. There are some minor family interactions woven in through the book and a betrayal by one of Dario's close family members who don't approve of his Black wife and the weakness she represents for Dario.
I liked Dario because he was nonsense and upfront. Sienna was able to handle her business well, like the boss she is when she learns that her husband had a hand in redirecting her project behind her back. One thing I didn't agree with was Sienna's adamant stance about having protection. Yes, she's hurt to know that Dario potentially played on her emotions so that he knew exactly what to say to get her, but being married to a dangerous man in the Mafia seems like it should warrant some monitoring. Otherwise, this was a well written book that was shorter than I'd like but I still enjoyed the story.
Sienna Holloway's light was made to be dimmed by her no good thieving, philandering husband Grant. But, unbeknownst to her, someone saw that light she suppressed and knew that there was more to her than being her husband's arm candy. Dario Marcello was smitten. He was determined to make Sienna his. Upon Grant's untimely death, Dario knew the mob would come after her. She needed protection and he was it. Everyone thought they could come after Sienna but Dario was the true protector but Sienna thought it was too much and over the top. They almost didn't make it but Sienna coming to realize what was involved in her surveillance , her love for Dario blossomed and so did she with her successful waterfront plans. She proved that she was no shrinking violet and that she was a force to be reckoned with in her own right. Even more so with Dario by her side.
Married to the Vengeful King is a different BWWM Mafia Romance. It wasn't just the story of a mafia don loving a black woman and using her to get what he wanted and needed. Nor was it erotic sex looking for a story like many interracial romances. It's the love story of Dario Morello and Sienna James Holloway who completely became a Morello. Their lives were built on a "terrible foundation but became solid ground". Nothing was simple about their lives. It was messy, complicated and dangerous.
Through their choices, they became inevitable. Sienna, after discovering the truth about Dario, stayed "when leaving would have been easier." They found love with each other. Not despite everything, but because they survived everything.
Their ending was carved from impossible beginnings!
This is probably my first book with this author and I enjoyed it. I like the length as well and there were very few editing mistakes.
I do wish the book would have included more about Sienna’s parents and that Dario would have romanced her more. Throughout the book we never see him try to impress her except set the waterfront project. I see that she doesn’t care for romance but it would be nice to have a better sense of her upbringing so that we could understand why.
First time reading this author’s books and at first I was happy to read it then it’s started going downhill for me I needed a bit more. The concept was good. The characters were nice it just felt rushed and not put together properly and it’s a shame because it would’ve been a good book if it was just put together perfectly and cementing everything perfect but it just felt a little bit short so a bit disappointed but I would read another book of hers just to see if it’s this book or if her pattern is like that in all her books
The narrative was an absolute delight, weaving an intricate and compelling storyline that held my attention from beginning to end. The characters were meticulously crafted, each possessing depth, complexity, and a unique personality that brought the story to life with remarkable authenticity and emotional resonance. Their interactions and development throughout the narrative were truly exceptional, making the reading experience both immersive and profoundly engaging.
I usually don’t care for mafia related stories because I find them to be too brutal and heavy on the violence. However, I found this book to be an unexpected gem. The main female character was strong and relatable, and while the main male character came from a mafia family, emphasis was placed more on feelings for the female character and not as much on the brutality of his mafia family. I will look for more stories written by this Hunt & Grey writing team.
The storyline wasn’t terrible but some phrases were used excessively to the point that I could predict what they would say cuz they said it every time.
This is just a few of the examples: ‘Most people think I killed her’, ‘She's a liability’ ‘I'd seen her dance in her kitchen at midnight’
I absolutely enjoyed this book & you will too. Love always win! Sienna brought out her inner gangster when threatened & showed she can take care of herself. With Dario by her side they were stronger together! A easy but very good read!
This was one of the best POWER COUPLE that I’ve read about. Him wanting her and she wanting him. He was Boss and could handle her, but she gave it right back. Please check this out and enjoy.
Title should have been Married to the Vengeful Queen. FMC swept the floor with everybody. Dario was a very supportive husband and loved her obsessively. HEA was perfect 😍 she
Even though Dario’s love started as an obsession and protection, l really appreciated his patience and support for Sienna. And Sienna show you can’t keep a good woman down. You go girl!
Dario and Sienna, two people who'd found each other through violence and violation and chosen to build their life on terrible foundations that had somehow become solid ground.
I enjoyed this book because it flowed well. The writer told the story without saying the same thing over and over again. The character s were likable and made you root for their love to last. Definitely recommend reading this book.
It was a really good read. I was hooked anyway from the start. It had some unexpected twist and turns that kept you reading the next chapter to find out. And I love the two main characters. Plus I love a strong female heroine.
This H was serving revenge 🥶 and 🔥. Whenever the proof came in, he made sure they got what they had coming to them. And the h, she was here for it all. Love this couple.
